1. Josh McDaniels Still Has Plans

As you may remember, McDaniels was the coach in Denver who decided to draft Tim Tebow. The pick came after McDaniels and Tebow had a lengthy conversation during the predraft process about how Tebow would be used. The problem? McDaniels decided to start Kyle Orton and was fired before Tebow ever started a game. Interim coach Eric Studesville was actually the man who decided to start Tebow, and with nothing to lose, Tebow actually came in and played decently. That following off-season John Fox was hired and the rest is as they say history.

The thing to remember here is that, whatever Josh McDaniels and Tim Tebow talked about never materialized on the field. So maybe there is still some new, innovative quasi-wildcat that McDaniels wants to run with Tebow.

2. The Patriots Take Cheap Personnel Gambles

Remember Ochocino? (#FREECHAD by the way) Haynesworth? Donte Stallworth’s second run? Kellen Winslow? Fred Taylor?

There is a long list of cheap veterans that Bill Belichick has kicked the tires on during the twilight of their careers. Tebow is just another name in this list. The true backup Quarterback and successor to Tom Brady is already in place in Ryan Mallet. If Tebow proves to be serviceable then it’s just icing on the cake.

Unless…

3. Tebow Would Make Ryan Mallet Expendable

…if in some Twilight Zone Tim Tebow becomes a quality backup passer, then the Patriots would be able to cash in on their investment in Mallet.

It isn’t talked about much but Mallet is a highly coveted young Quarterback in his league. If he ever becomes available the Pats won’t have to wait long to find a trade partner.

Either way, this may be the curtain call for #TebowTime.

If you remember back to the 2010 NFL Draft there was only a handful of teams that really wanted Tim: Denver, Buffalo, Jacksonville, and New England (rumored). We all know how that ended up.

Now that Tim is going to be a free agent after a stint in NY word is that we will finally see him on the Jaguars.

Here is the news, and my opinion on it:

According to ESPN.com’s Chris Mortensen, the Jacksonville Jaguars are a “virtual certainty” to acquire current New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow in 2013, via free agency or the trade route. Tebow, who remains a bit player with the Jets after the team bumped Greg McElroy above to starter following the decision to bench Mark Sanchez this week, has reportedly requested that the Jets trade or release him.

My thoughts: it looks like Shad Khan is ready to say “do it my way” to his management team. He tried Gabbert, he tried Henne and got the same results. Tebow is still not a great quarterback but has proven that if you build an offense to his strengths he can get the job done. Blaine Gabbert… not so much. It’s Tebow time in Jacksonville for better or worse.

The Jets might have two star quarterbacks on their roster, but Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez are far from alike when it comes to endorsement potential.

According to Nielsen and E-Poll’s N-Score ranking, which measures factors including name and image awareness, appeal, attributes such as sincerity, approachability, experience and influence, Tebow has a score of 180 while Sanchez has a score of only 12.

Since the day Tim Tebow was drafted, I will admit I looked forward to this day. The deal has finally gone down and Tebow is no longer a Denver Bronco. The Broncos unloaded Tim to the Jets for a 4th round pick.

The only issue with the situation is this. Tim Tebow simply is not good enough to be worth the hassle of keeping him on your roster. While he is a good athlete, he is no quarterback. Rational fans understand this.

I really feel bad for Mark Sanchez because the first time he throws 2 picks in one game the chants will start and the circus will load up. Sanchez ultimately will be benched for Tebow, we all know this. His fanbase are some of the loudest and most demanding in sports. They will see too it that Tim plays.

Will Tim get better? Probably not. He’s been struggling as a passer for over half a decade now. You have to remember he played 4 years at Florida and is still so far behind other QBs in his class. So when Tebow finally does play, it won’t be pretty metaphoricaly and realistically.

This is probably Tim’s last stop in the NFL. That’s really sad to think about for a third year pro, but where could he go next? New York is not going to give him three more years to run around and “figure it out” and eventually Tim WILL brushback on the whole “wildcat” angle.

He will want to play QB somewhere, but after his stint with the Jets is there a place for him in this league? Thats an interesting question to ponder going forward. It’s going to be REAL interesting to see how the NY fans react to those 6/20 60 yard games.

Peyton Manning will become the next quarterback of the Denver Broncos, barring unexpected snag in contract talks.

The funny thing is that writers like Woody Paige have said time after time that the Broncos had a 0% shot at signing the Hall of Fame QB.  Now these guys are backpedaling faster than Darrelle Revis in man to man coverage.  If you’re that much of a Tebow homer you really should follow him to his next team.

The Broncos will look to trade Tebow as soon as possible.  This is a double WIN-WIN for the Broncos.  No more Tebowmania and his fans and they get one of the greatest QBs of all time.  As a fan I cannot be happier. Peyton Manning brings legitimacy to the QB spot that’s been lacking since the day Josh McDaniels used a first round pick on the quarterback that couldn’t pass.

Thank you Peyton. You made a wise decision. Can’t wait for the 2012 season!

I am one of the few people who remember the facts that the Broncos (my favorite team don’t get it twisted) actually backed in the playoffs with a loss. The final five games of the season the Broncos went 1-4, and Tebow finished the season with 12 fumbles making him a very quiet turnover machine.

That’s not to say that Tebow is a bad person or he can’t play in the NFL. There is no shame in being a very good backup QB. A lot of guys have made a lot of money doing just that.

With that said, there is no confusion that John Elway is ready to upgrade the position with Peyton Manning and trade Tim Tebow:

According to PFT’s Mike Florio, Tebow has every right to be rattled. Florio wrote that according to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Broncos would most likely not keep Tebow and have him learn the finer points of the position from Manning — more likely, Tebow would be traded. Or, at least the attempt would be made

Somewhere Skip Bayless and the rest of Tebow Nation are “Tebowing” in hopes that a trade doesn’t happen. Either way, the Broncos braintrust have made their point loud and clear- they WILL acquire a better Quarterback than Tim Tebow in the near future.

So with that said, you know good old Woody was threatened when one of the best quarterbacks of all time, Peyton Manning became available on Wednesday. In Woody’s latest masterpiece he laid out a trove of reasons why there is no chance that Peyton Manning would ever, EVER, consider playing for the Denver Broncos.

The Title of Woody’s masterpiece is ” Woody Paige: Broncos won’t make Peyton Manning’s final list.”

Manning, who will be 36 on March 24, wants to play for an immediate Super Bowl contender; in a domed stadium (where he has won more than 70 percent of his games) or a warm-weather city; on a team with a quality defense and superior receivers, linemen and running backs; in a system that allows him freedom and influence; for an organization that doesn’t have drama; and in a locale where Manning is the man.

Honestly, the Broncos aren’t qualified on enough fronts, even though they are in the running, or passing.

So why Peyton is visiting Denver FIRST?

According to PFT:

A tipster, whom we regarded as either very trustworthy or an evil genius, told PFT last night that Peyton Manning will meet with BV.P. of football operations John Elway and other Broncos officials in Stillwater and then head to Denver to meet with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.

We’ll see what happens.

It is a breath of fresh air to finally get some perspective and honesty in the media on the whole Tebowmania thing, and from a former player nonetheless.

Here is what Quinn said in an interview with GQ Mag:

Early in the season, there was a game when Kyle [Orton] got hurt and the coaches were calling for me to go in, but Kyle got up and finished the game out. So I was the second-string guy. Then, a few weeks later, they decided to put Tim in. I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just ’cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn’t have any billboards. That would have been nice.

The entire game, the defensive line is chasing the quarterback around, and that wears down the pass rush. Meanwhile, the defensive backs are chasing receivers, but you only throw eight passes, so they start to feel lazy. It only takes that one play, that one big pass, for a touchdown.

If you look at it as a whole there’s a lot of things that just don’t seem very humble to me. When I get that opportunity, I’ll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?

Yes, Tebow managed to be a part of some Broncos wins. I won’t say “he won the game” more than the defense won it, or that the opposing teams lost them. Tebow was simply apart of a fantastic win streak. Nothing more nothing less, but people like Skippy Bayless wanted to tell the world that “HE JUST WINS” with no regard for the other factors that played into the win streak.

• The Broncos defense was holding teams below 19 points a game
• The Broncos won a game in which their QB only completed 2 passes
• The Dolphins turned the ball over on a game winning drive
• The Bears turned the ball over on a game winning drive
• The Vikings turned the ball over on a game winning drive
• The Chargers lost 6 straight games

All of this and more are reasons why the Broncos were able to win enough games to get in the playoffs. The fact that they are only in because of a tie breaker is enough to tell you the true story here.

However since Tebow’s fans want him to get all the credit, then he must get a lion’s share of the blame for the three game losing streak that ended the regular season for the Broncos. Here are Tim’s passing stat lines from these games:

• 6-22, 60 yards 1 int
• 13-29, 185 yards 1 td 3 int
• 11-22, 194 yards

The man throws more than half of his passes in the dirt (48% completion rate) and has also fumbled the ball 12 times during the year.

That folks, is simply not good enough to win games for you consistently in the NFL. I know it, you know it, Tebowmaniacs know it, and John Elway knows it.

So will Denver Draft a QB?

Of course they will.  Just the way the contracts happen to expire only leaves EFX with Tebow signed at the position next year.  Brady Quinn is a free agent so he might not return.  Either way, it is a fact that at least 2 more QBs will be needed going into camp.

I don’t foresee Denver trading the farm for Robert Griffin III or Landry Jones.  That wouldn’t make sense, and as quiet as kept Tebow Nation has a large control over this team and wouldn’t let Elway get away with it.  I do believe that if Nick Foles slips to Denver’s second round pick then he will be the selection there.  As far as veterans go, Jason Campbell looks like a really good option.

Either way, after wildcard weekend Tebow Time will be officially over and finally it will be time for this team to move forward.

Tim Tebow is a second team Pro Bowl alternate.

At least the world will not end in 2012.  Tim Tebow has not been named as a starter in the 2011 Pro Bowl.  However Bronco rookie sack artist Von Miller has.  Well deserved for Miller, and Tebow will probably make it as well because at least two of the starting quarterbacks probably won’t end up suiting up in the game.

DENVER – Three Denver Broncos are headed to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii on Jan 29. Elvis Dumervil, Champ Bailey and Von Miller will play at Aloha Stadium at the end of the month. Willis McGahee, Ryan Clady, and Brian Dawkins were named first-team alternates. Tim Tebow, Britton Colquitt and Matt Prater are second-team alternates.

Tebow fans let me make this easy on you.  This is not an opprotunity to say “told you so.” It will only make you all look more foolish than you already do.  Remember: Vince Young made TWO Pro Bowls. It means nothing in the long run.
