5. Patriots: Derek Barnett DE Tennessee

***TRADE***The Patriots trade CB Malcolm Butler to the Saints for the pick #17. The Saints wouldn’t give up the 11th pick and the Pats wanted more the the 31st pick so the Saints move back and acquire an extra 3rd plus they get the CB they have wanted. NE would have had a tough choice between Lamp or Barnett but since Lamp is off the board the Pats take the best available pass rusher. They lost Chris Long and Jabaal Sheard this off season while they did acquire Kony Ealy they have to get more youth and quality at the pass rush.

6. Jets: Patrick Mahomes QB Texas Tech

***TRADE***The Jets trade picks 39(2nd rd), 107(3rd rd comp pick) and DT Sheldon Richardson to Oakland for the 24th pick. This puts Richardson’s value at the 24th pick in rd 3 which seems about what the Jets were asking for. The Raiders get the extra picks and a stud DT that they have needed. The Jets brass(Bowles and MaCcagnan) are desperate and know they are on the hot seat so they throw a hail mary to get the QB they need to perhaps buy them another year. They would have like Trubisky but in Mahomes they get the most physically gifted QB in the class. The Jets know they have to jump Houston, KC, Pitt, Saints and anyone else looking to move back up . They don’t have to give up too much to get him either so it is a good deal all around.
