Landry Jones Sets Oklahoma’s Passing Record

A lot of draft pundits are starting to come to the consensus that Landry Jones has the highest “bust” factor of the top QB’s available, but he is still hard to ignore when he passes for monster numbers like this.

To be honest, this was pretty much expected. K-State has been a remarkable story, and Bill Snyder has done an amazing job coaching this team up to play beyond their abilities, but there’s no denying the superior talent of OU. It’s felt on more than one occasion this year like Oklahoma was playing to the level of their competition. Not today. Sooners quarterback Landry Jones was unstoppable, tossing for over 500 yards and five touchdowns.

In the process, Jones passed the previous school record for yards passing of 468, which he had shared with Sam Bradford, and moved atop the Oklahoma career passing list with 90 touchdowns.

Landry will probably still go in the top 20 picks if he chooses to come out in the 2012 draft. With the logjam at the top it may better serve him to come back to school, and compete with Tyler Bray for the #1 spot in 2013.
