Tajh Boy’s father says that his son will likely be back in the purple and orange next year but that he is taking a look at his NFL draft status. Advisers have told them that Tajh is a third round prospect right now (which I agree). The 6-1 quarterback’s height is likely one of the factors holding him out of the earlier rounds.

All in all I’d expect to see Boyd grind out another season in school no matter how badly he may want to make the leap right now. Next year he will be among the best QB’s available and the NFL will have had two seasons of Russell Wilson opening the door for the six foot passers.

After Watkins went out of the game with a sprained ankle, Hopkins went H.A.M. as they say. He posted a Chick Fil’ A Bowl record of 190 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. All of this against the mighty LSU Tigers aka “DB-U.”

On the LSU side, Bernie Logan has played well. He blocked a kick. Sam Montgomery has been disruptive. But Barkevious Mingo looked like the player that once was thought of as the #1 pick in many mock drafts. I’ve said it before, in another year he could easily be he #1 overall pick… the door still isn’t closed on that happening by the way.

Mingo, Hopkins… *whew* this was an instant classic folks. Make sure you find a replay of the 2013 Chick Fil A Bowl if you didn’t get to see it!

(Just in case you are wondering I’m liking Hopkins in the pick 30-40 range.)

The thing about these verbal commitments is that they are non-binding. Meaning that if for any reason the 18 year old decides to change his mind, he is free to do just that. The last time I checked 18 year olds change their mind about as often as the wind blows. Thus it is a frustrating time for college recruiters until that signature is signed on the dotted line.

Robert Nkemdiche is doing nothing new. He is weighing his options and letting the teams send their best pitch. Ole Miss has his brother on their team, and Alabama has Nick $aban and his history of creating first round NFL Draft picks.

While he is officially decommitted from Clemson that does not mean he won’t end up there. It just means that it isn’t a guarantee.

We’ll see where Robert decides to Take His Talents in the Spring…

In the process Tajh broke Clemson’s school record with 428 passing yards previously held by Charlie Whitehurst. Watkins went crazy as well hauling in just eight passes for 202 yards and a score.

These two men will have an eye on the 2014 NFL Draft. Boyd, a Junior is likely to return for one more season and the true sophomore Watkins is not eligible until after next season.

Those are probably the words Robert Nkemdiche said when he called up the recruiting department at Clemson University. The nation’s top prospect, stunned everyone by going to Clemson. I heard their “Chik-Fil-A” is a $$$elling point. Basically Nkemdiche wants the school to send a +1 with his scholarship and he will go to the next school on his list if Clemson doesn’t oblige:

“I am waiting on Clemson to offer Ryan; when that happens, it’s locked … it’s a done deal … it’s over,” Nkemdiche, a defensive end, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

So what if Clemson doesn’t offer Carter? Well, Nkemdiche said he plans to look elsewhere like Ole Miss, where Nkemdiche’s brother plays and where Carter already has an offer.

“If Clemson doesn’t offer Ryan, it would make me look at Ole Miss a little more, it would,” Nkemdiche said. “It’s very important that I have my boys with me.”

I guarantee you Clemson finds a scholarship for ya boy Carter.

If he pairs up with an offense that features Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins in 2013 you never know what the Tigers could pull off. But for now Clemson has to be excited they have the #1 player and two of his high school teammates.

On Thursday, Loganville, Ga./Grayson defensive end Robert Nkemdiche threw a wrench in a handful of SEC schools’ recruiting plans when he verbally committed to Clemson.

Nkemdiche, who tops this year’s ESPN 150 list and has been this year’s most coveted recruiting prize, spurned Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss for Clemson after developing a solid relationship with new Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and the rest of the Tigers’ staff.

Sammy and a Clemson soccer player were caught riding dirty:

Clemson University wide receiver Sammy Watkins and men’s soccer player Amadou-Tidiane Daniel Dia were arrested by university police and booked into the City of Clemson’s holding facility early Friday morning.

According to Clemson Media Relations, Watkins and Dia, both 18, were arrested on drug-related charges.  Both are being charged with simple possession of marijuana.  In addition, Watkins faces a possession of a controlled substance charge.  All of the charges aremisdemeanors.

Officials say they saw the car Watkins was driving scrape against a curb on campus and pulled him over in a parking lot off Commons Court.  The temporary license tag was also not lit.

When the officer came up to the car, he smelled marijuana.  A search turned up two pills that Watkins didn’t have a prescription for and the marijuana, according to a release.
