Republican Bill Aims to Take Scholarships from Athletes who Protest

This straight up looks like a slave law. Look at this language:

any “college athlete who calls, incites, supports, or participates in any strike or concerted refusal to play a scheduled game shall have his or her scholarship revoked”. Additionally, the bill continues, “any member of a coaching staff who encourages or enables a college athlete to engage in behavior” prohibited under the bill “shall be fined by his or her institution of employment”.

This is only coded language for, “Toby we said you’re going to play, so you’re going to play boy.”

Would this law be enforced for a white Christian athlete who chooses to sit out due to religious reasons? Just a question. It’s sad and sickening people are actually supporting this bill.

I could go on and on about the true nature of racial politics in this country but its just easier to recommend you watch the Hidden Colors series.

This bill requires a real response. The people of Missouri need to put pressure on the lawmakers to reject this bill. In a country where people like to scream about the Second Amendment of the Constitution it sure looks like some of those same people would like to restrict others’ Constitutional Rights more than anyone.

Should college athletes use their platforms to protest?

That question isn’t even up for debate. The answer simply does not matter. They have the First Amendment right to express themselves politically and socially however they choose to and that cannot be restricted.

We have a Constitution for a reason. To give every citizen “equal” rights. That includes the First Amendment. This bill is straight up Unconstitutional and if you support it you too are acting against the very “American” ideas lawmakers claim they support.*

Be safe athletes out there and please wake up to what’s going on around you.
