Cowboys Cut Gerald Sensabaugh, Now Need a Safety

It was obvious that the Cowboys would have to shuffle their roster after moving to Monte Kiffin’s 4-3 defense. Most people speculated on what would be the future of 3-4 OLB Anthony Spencer (franchised) among other veterans. What no one saw coming was the ‘Boys handing long time safety Gerald Sensabaugh his walking papers.

With the release of Sensabaugh the Dallas squad now needs a safety in the worst way. One is because the 4-3 defense that Monte Kiffin installs uses a cover 2 as it’s base, and two is because there are no other experienced players on Dallas’ roster at the spot.

Barry Church, Danny McCray, and Eric Frampton are all inexperienced with the former two being second year players and Frampton in his fifth.

That brings us to draft speculation? Could the Cowboys be looking at a safety? With their pick in the first round Kenny Vaccaro and Eric Reid could both be available. As well as later in the draft good options like Bacarri Rambo and TJ McDonald will be there in round two. If Dallas doesn’t sign a free agent safety expect them to address this in the 2013 draft.
