As the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, the spotlight is on the wide receiver position, with a talented crop of prospects poised to make an impact in the professional ranks. Here are the top 10 wide receivers in the upcoming draft:

1. **Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State**
– Drawing comparisons to his legendary father, Marvin Harrison Sr., MHJ stands out with elite body control, reliable hands, and WR1 athletic ability. His technique beyond his years makes him a coveted prospect.

2. **Malik Nabers, LSU**
– Nabers distinguishes himself with unique movement, showcasing impressive body control and route-running potential. Anticipated to be a focal point of an NFL passing attack, he brings a dynamic skill set to the table.

3. **Troy Franklin, Oregon**
– Franklin’s ability to stretch the field and contribute as a vertical threat makes him a sought-after target. With smooth strides, good top speed, and improved route running, he promises to be a valuable asset in the pros.

4. **Rome Odunze, Washington**
– Odunze combines top-tier size, speed, and strength, dominating at the catch point. Known for his 4.3-4.4 speed at 215 pounds, he brings a powerful presence to the receiver position.

5. **Brian Thomas Jr., LSU**
– A burner with the capability to stretch the field, Thomas plays a crucial role in LSU’s potent offense. While his route tree is evolving, his speed and contributions are notable for any team.

6. **Ladd McConkey, Georgia**
– McConkey earns praise as one of the best route runners in the class. Contrary to stereotypes, he possesses both quick and long speed, showcasing versatility as a slot receiver.

7. **Devontez Walker, North Carolina**
– Walker, a standout athlete, stands out as one of the best in stretching the field. Despite being raw in consistency, his tools and potential make him a difference-maker in professional football.

8. **Keon Coleman, Florida State**
– Known for his competitiveness at the catch point, Coleman’s combination of strength and speed positions him as a potential starting X receiver in the NFL.

9. **Adonai Mitchell, Texas**
– Mitchell impresses with smooth route running for his size, standing at 6-foot-4. His body control and ability to change speeds make him an efficient red-zone threat.

10. **Xavier Legette, South Carolina**
– A rising star in the draft class, Legette has surpassed expectations with his dominance at the catch point. Standing at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, he exhibits rare yards-after-catch ability for a player of his stature.

As teams prepare for the draft, these wide receiver prospects offer a diverse range of skills and attributes, setting the stage for an exciting selection process.

Bears GM Ryan Poles is reportedly considering making a bold statement in the upcoming NFL draft by selecting wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. as the first overall pick. This potential move is fueled by the desire to reunite Harrison Jr. with quarterback Justin Fields, reviving the dominant connection they shared during their time together at Ohio State.

Former NFL wide receiver and current analyst Keyshawn Johnson has voiced his strong support for the Bears’ daring strategy. Johnson emphasized the importance of situations and circumstances in the NFL, suggesting that drafting Marvin Harrison Jr. at #1 overall would be a smart move. He declared Harrison Jr. as the best player in the draft, comparing the potential situation to that of quarterback Caleb Williams if selected.

Johnson’s argument raises the question: Should the Bears, with the 1st overall pick acquired from Carolina, draft Marvin Harrison Jr.? The last time a wide receiver was taken as the top pick was almost three decades ago.

The sentiment is clear: It would be a regrettable decision for the Bears to let Marvin Harrison Jr. slip through their fingers when they have the coveted 1st overall pick. The Bears, under Poles’ leadership, have a unique opportunity to secure a dynamic wide receiver for the future.

To put this potential move into context, the top-10 wide receiver draft prospects of the past decade are evaluated, with Marvin Harrison Jr. positioned as the potential game-changer in the 2024 draft class. Notable names such as Ja’Marr Chase, Amari Cooper, and Mike Evans, who were selected within the top 10 picks, underline the significance of a high draft position for impactful wide receivers.

While Marvin Harrison Jr. is yet to declare for the draft officially, the buzz surrounding his talent suggests that he could be a different breed of wide receiver. If the Bears decide to take the plunge and secure him with the 1st overall pick, it could mark a pivotal moment in the franchise’s future, banking on the promise of a unique talent and a quarterback-receiver reunion.

Today we are going to break down the 2015 draft class’ crop of wide outs. This is actually a group that really excites me. I think this class may be just as talented as the historic 2014 class. While the name recognition is not there, trust me these guys are going to bring it to whatever squads they are on next season!

As usual, check out the rankings page for the up-to-date list depending on when you read this.

And as always the disclaimer: these picks are sure to be 100% wrong.

My wide receiver rankings below:

1. Kevin White, WVU
White is #1 right now (January 2015.) While I do question what he will run at the combine, he shouldn’t be taken lightly as a legitimate #1 receiver at the next level. Think Kelvin Benjamin minus the drops. Has enough speed to take angles and get away, but won’t burn you. Size makes him a threat to take screens for large chunks of yardage at any time.

2. Amari Cooper, Alabama
Cooper is going to be higher on everyone’s draft boards and with good reason. I already broke him down here. Think Jeremy Maclin #2. Great speed and hands, but isn’t going to dominate a game all four quarters.

3. DeVante Parker, Louisville
People are calling him baby AJ Green due to his leaping ability. That is a elite talent, and class to be in. I think he will pan out as a legit #1 or dominate #2 in the NFL.

4. Jaelen Strong, Arizona State
Has been called the best player pound-for-pound. Another legit round 1 prospect who will be a dominate #2 prospect at worse. Catches the ball at the point of attack with his hands. Fights defenders for position. Will bail out his QB on poorly placed balls.

The Rest:

5. Tyler Lockett, Kansas State

6. Justin Hardy, East Carolina

7. Dorial Green-Beckham, Oklahoma
DGB would probably be #1 on this list… IF HE PLAYED IN 2014. I know that isn’t his fault, but his actions off the field put him in the position where he had to sit out in the first place. At the risk of repeating myself click here for more on that. DGB has the 6’5+ LEGIT size, great speed, and toughness/willingness to block anyone on the field. Again, as a prospect he’s head and shoulders the best of this group but I cannot trust what’s going to happen once someone signs a six figure check over to this guy…

8. Sammie Coates, Auburn

9. Josh Harper, Fresno State

10. Rashad Greene, Florida State

11. DeAndre Smelter, Georgia Tech

12. Devin Funchess, Michigan

13. Devante Davis, UNLV

14. Nelson Agholor, USC

15. Breshad Perriman, UCF

One thing that struck me was how badly Oakland Raiders fans wanted Terrell Owens on their team.

In past years things would have been quite the opposite. For most of Owens’ career the media successfully cast him as villain. Fans would literally protest at the thought of bringing Owens to their team. On the 49ers, Owens divided the locker room against Jeff Garcia who oddly was ousted from the Raiders in favor for Jamarcus Russell in his last NFL spot.

On the Eagles he was ousted in favor of Donovan McNabb after only returning from breaking his leg in three weeks to put up an all-time great Super Bowl performance. Owens next stop included the Cowboys who scapegoated Owens after they failed to meet expectations. Finally, he spent an uneventful year in Buffalo and still put up five touchdowns with Ryan Fitzpatrick as his primary Quarterback… and he didn’t even make a peep about it.

Raiders fans could have a point. There is no leadership in their receiving corps. Tim Brown is not walking back through that door. Jerry Rice might, but you might not want to see what he has to offer at this age. T.O. would give the Raiders a true #1 target and allow speedster Darius Heyward-Bey to operate as a third receiver.

Will Al Davis bring in T.o.? There is not immediate indication he will, but Raider fans would love for it to happen.

Here are the details:

Metro Indianapolis police and FBI investigators are looking into claims of fraud against a woman who claims to be Reggie Wayne’s mistress.

After obtaining a search warrant, 15 FBI agents took materials from 26-year-old Natasha McKenzie’s home after she was accused of stealing his debit card, and charging nearly $93,000 on it, according to Fox 59 in Indianapolis.

The story isn’t simple, though. Wayne apparently had a relationship with the woman. He said she requested he wire her money. When he refused, he noticed “more than 300 unaccounted for transactions dating back to September 2009″ according to WISH-TV.

Ms. McKenzie has done a television interview in which she claims that Wayne knew exactly what she was doing with the card:

I said in the video below just a few days ago that Dez Bryant was causing problems in the Dallas locker room, and not the way we thought he was. The presence of the younger talented Bryant has caused all sorts of ruffles in the feathers of Pat Crayton and Roy Williams.

They aren’t going to be competing for anything next year in South Bend anyways. On to their NFL possibilities…

Jimmy Clausen should be a top 15 pick in what some are calling a terrible QB draft (Clausen, Locker, Pike, Tebow, Bradford)

Dwayne Harris is no CJ, but he does have first round talent that will surely go under the radar because he plays in the C-USA. With the invention of the wildcat, this quarterback-turned-receiver has shown his many talents taking direct snaps at ECU and has scored on 4 runs this season already.

Knock a civilian out and get traded from the bottom of the NFL to the top of the AFC East. Good stuff. I just hope you catch on in NY. (I kid, I kid)

While Plax is in a very tough legal position, I do not feel that the Giants thought this one through.

Here are the facts. For one, if Plax cuts a deal this week and does 30-60 days in jail, he will still get out in time for the end of camp and the entire pre season. A great receiver like Plax doesn’t need to do much but get his legs under him during mini camp anyways.

Two, who in the blue hell is Eli going to throw to? I know Steve Smith caught a lot of balls last year but they were all 7 yard comeback routes. Hixon has the speed but no hands, and Sinorice and Manningham can’t crack the lineup. Their wide receiver lineup sucks. And that’s me trying to be polite.

The Giants don’t need to resign Plaxico Burress, they must. Where are you going to find a 6’5 game changing receiver? They don’t grow on trees. My advice to them is to tell Plax to do the time, resign him to a incentive-laden deal and draft Kenny Britt to eventually be that #2 receiver aside Burress. Of course all bets are off if they can swing a deal for Braylon Edwards but I simply don’t see that happening. For the sake of Eli Manning you got to get Plax in the fold next year.
