A story has broke across the internet claiming that the result of Super Bowl XLVIII may have been predetermined. The story is a satire piece by Huzler, but it is slowly gaining steam with foil hats and conspiracy theorists.

Here is what the piece said:

After The Seattle Seahawks victory over the Denver Broncos at the NFL’s 48th Super Bowl with a final score of 43-8, NFL officials have just discovered that the game was most likely rigged. NFL officials have just found clues that might prove the game was rigged. Officials believe the Broncos intentionally lost the championship in exchange for a large amount of money.

So was the game rigged?

Of course not. The Broncos defense is really that bad. Combine that defense with a 5 point head start and the Seahawks were rolling downhill for basically three quarters. The five time MVP Peyton Manning masked a lot of Denver’s flaws as he did in Indy, but ultimately there is only so much you can do when playing from behind the ENTIRE GAME with a defense that cannot stop the score from increasing!

Tonight’s Super Bowl blowout left fans walking away from the game disappointed, but given the other entertainment value around the game (commercials, halftime show, etc.), how much does that really matter? According to a January survey by Burson-Marsteller, the anti-climactic game left more than just a few fans disappointed.

In fact:

52% of respondents say the primary reason they tune in is to watch the game, compared to 23% who are focused on the commercials

72% percent said they would prefer a great game with boring commercials over a boring game with great commercials

AN INTERESTING DYNAMIC:

People say their favorite part of the Super Bowl is watching the game. Their social media activity says otherwise. They are more likely to post about a commercial they love than a big play.

WHAT IS THEIR PERCEPTION OF THIS YEAR’S GAME?

· 56% believe the Super Bowl is better than in past years, as the focus has shifted from the game to entertaining ads and a halftime show

· 51% of all respondents think it is a good thing that there is more media coverage of the events surrounding the Super Bowl than in years past

· 52% of respondents say the primary reason they tune in is to watch the game, compared to 23% who are focused on the commercials.

HOW DO THEY FEEL ABOUT COMMERCIALS?

· 91% of survey respondents said they are more excited to view ads that use humor than ones designed to elicit an emotional response. They’re slightly more likely (55%) to post on social media about a commercial as they are a big play during the game (51%)

· 72% percent said they would prefer a great game with boring commercials over a boring game with great commercials

WHO IS WATCHING THE SUPER BOWL?

· 55% of respondents who said they plan to watch the Super Bowl consider themselves an avid NFL fan

· 92% percent watch most Super Bowl games, regardless of if their team is playing

· 55% of respondents have attended an NFL game. Forty-three percent have attended five or more games in-person

WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR WHEN THEY TUNE IN?

· 55% of respondents say the actual game is their favorite part of the Super Bowl, while only eight percent favor the halftime show

· 45% say they love watching the halftime show and wouldn’t miss it, while twenty-six percent rarely watch it

WHAT WILL THEY BE DOING ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

· 41% of respondents completely or somewhat agree that social media makes them feel like they’re part of the game

· 74% of those 18-35 years old are somewhat or very responsive to Super Bowl ads with additional content via social media

“HOMING IN” ON THE SUPER BOWL

· 65% of respondents say they are staying home to watch the Super Bowl. This reinforces the importance of the game and the use of social media to connect with friends and family during the game

· 22% of respondents said they would support designating Sunday and the following Monday as a national holiday

· If the game were moved to a Monday or Tuesday because of weather, only 4% say they would not watch and only 7% who planned to host a viewing party would cancel their party

Super Bowl Sunday is FINALLY here! As a Broncos fan, I can tell you it’s been 15 long years since the blue and orange has made their way to the NFL’s Championship game. Last year the team came up just short in an heartbreaking loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round, now all systems have been on fire and the Broncos are one game away from the franchise’s third title.

It won’t be easy with the formidable Seattle Seahawks in the way, but here are 5 reasons why it gets done:

1. Peyton MF Manning
The five time, five time, five time, five time, five time MVP is having his best season yet at the ripe age of 37. He broke the season record for passing yards and touchdowns this season and doesn’t seem like he is stopping any time soon. Yes Richard Sherman is the best in the game but guess what? Walter Thurmond III is about to get a lot of work on that other side.

2. No Brandon Browner
Speaking of LOB…. their core competency is that they’re the tallest and most physical unit in the league. Without Browner the Broncos will be looking to move Demariyus Thomas all around the field and match him on smaller players, likely Earl Thomas.

3. Offense vs. Defense
Something has got to give. The Broncos are the #1 ranked offense at 457 yards per and the Seahawks are the #1 defense at 273 per. Here is the one thing no one is talking about though, out of that 273 the Seahawks hold their opponet to 172 yards passing… do you really think Peyton will be held to under 200?!

4. It’s Been Two Weeks
Peyton Manning and the Broncos have had two weeks to adjust to any temperatures and conditions. Trust me, Peyton will not have any issues with the cold weather.

5. The Pain Factor
As I said last year in my Ravens prediction:

Well a man once said, “there are things that man cannot determine.” And you know what? I agree with that man.

The big difference between these teams, in my opinion, is the pain factor. One team has simply felt the PAIN of loss too many times. One team has too many players that have gone home in the playoffs too soon, losing to teams they should have beat. That’s a lot of summers to let that pain dwell. That’s a lot of seasons to feel disappointed. It’s simply at the point enough is enough.

Peyton is 37 and his career is ending soon, Wes Welker was the goat in the Patriots last Super Bowl loss, John Fox lost his last Super Bowl on a kickoff kicked out of bounds… and then there is what Rahim Moore did last year. There is only so many times you’ll fail. I think Denver will find a way to hold off in a close game.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 29, 2014) – Weather 2020 meteorologists remain confident in a weather forecast issued in early January predicting no snow at Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The forecast, based on Lezak’s Recurring Cycle (LRC), a revolutionary weather forecasting technology created by Gary Lezak, a seasoned weather expert and current chief meteorologist at Kansas City’s 41 Action News, contrasts the prediction in “The Old Farmers’ Almanac” calling for bitter cold and possible snow.

As originally forecasted, Weather 2020 expects warmer air to be drawn into the areas of New York City and New Jersey on Saturday, Feb. 1, causing temperatures to surge into the 40’s through the morning of Super Bowl Sunday. A cool down is expected before kickoff but chances for snow remain at zero percent.

“Our forecast comes in sharp contrast from other weather predictors that have been warning of snow in East Rutherford for the big game,” said Lezak, Weather 2020 founder. “We are very confident that the forecast we issued in early January will be accurate,”

The LRC based weather forecasts are available to consumers by downloading the Weather 2020 app. Available on iOS 7-enabled devices, the app provides users with weather forecasts 77 days beyond the current seven-day standard. Weather 2020 is free to download through Apple’s App Store. The free download includes Weather 2020’s short-range (seven-day) and long-range (12-week) forecasts for unlimited locations.

Personal weather balloons can customize and track events up to 12-weeks in advance with alerts of any changing conditions for designated dates. A weather balloon launch will provide app users with real-time email and ping alerts when the forecast for their tracked date is updated, a valuable feature as weather is a decisive factor when planning events and vacations. Unlimited weather balloons can be launched for one month, three months and one year for 99 cents, $2.99 and $8.99, respectively. The app includes weather forecasts for the continental U.S. and Hawaii.

About Weather 2020 (Weather2020.com)

Weather 2020 is the first and only mobile app that provides users weather projections beyond the typical seven-day forecast, allowing for weather tracking up to 12 weeks in advance across the U.S. Weather 2020 is the creation of Gary Lezak, a seasoned meteorologist and creator of Lezak’s Recurring Cycle (LRC), a scientific method of forecasting weather and the basis of Weather 2020. Using the LRC, Lezak and his team are able to prepare weather forecasts with an 84-day lead time. Weather 2020 is available for free in the Apple Store and is compatible with both iPhone and iPad. Weather 2020 users can also launch custom weather balloons to track weather for designated dates and be notified in real-time when the weather changes for the tracked dates. Unlimited weather balloons can be launched for a small fee.

Super Bowl XLVIII is upon us. This Sunday the Seattle Seahawks will face the Denver Broncos in what will be one of the coldest games in Super Bowl history.

Now I love the Denver Broncos, and I don’t make that a secret. There is a reason blue and orange are the colors of the site. But the thing I love more than the Broncos is making money.

Now I am not advocating that you put your hard earned bread up on the game, but for entertainment purposes only I will tell you some things you might want to look at putting your chicken at.

1. Montee Ball to Score a TD
The Broncos run the ball when they are inside the five yard line. Usually this would be a chance for Knowshon to get some touches, but he’s been really banged up lately and Montee Ball has been getting an increased amount of carries. If Denver gets down inside the five, look for Ball.

2. Peyton Manning under 290 Yards Passing
Being that the Seahawks play a lot of man defense expect the Broncos to move the ball primarily though screens and underneath passes. I fully expect Manning to dink and dunk his way to scores instead of going deep.

3. Marshawn Lynch under 100 Yards Rushing and Receiving
The Seahawks are going to run the ball, but the strength of the Broncos defense is the middle. Terrence Knighton aka Pot Roast will slow up Beastmode just enough to keep him under 100. Expect Seattle to run a lot of screens and runs to the hash marks.

4. Marshawn Lynch to Score a TD
I’m not super confident in this, but if any Seahawk is bound to score a touchdown it’s Lynch.

5. Doug Baldwin to Score a TD
The Broncos are missing their best cover corner Chris Harris Jr., and Tony Carter is susceptible to giving up big plays. There isn’t any way the Broncos will keep Baldwin from getting downfield, there’s no corner on this team outside DRC that can run with him.

As I’m sure everybody, even those poor souls who simply don’t care, knows by now that Superbowl 48 will take place in an outdoor, cold weather venue at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey. It is also common knowledge that it is the first of its kind, no other Superbowl has taken a stage that could potentially allow the elements to influence the outcome of a the game so dynamically.

Let’s say for instance it snows for the Superbowl the way that it did in the Eagles Lions game early in December, when its all said and down 8-10 inches of snow on the ground and during the game reliable visibility is reduced to 15 yards in any direction; would this make for a good Superbowl?

This is clearly an opinionated question that relies on the individual presenting there case. However as the historic day draws closer we see that the odds of having the single most watched sporting event in America being played in a blizzard dissipating.

“ Indeed, the current extended forecast calls for a high of just 32-degrees and a low of 24. Kickoff is scheduled for roughly 6:30 p.m. ET, and while skies are projected to be clear by then, there is a slight chance for snow during the day (AccuWeather).”

Honestly, compared to many of the games we have witnessed this season even in the playoffs (-15 in Green Bay) this hardly even categorizes as a cold weather game. Obviously the forecast will change and perhaps the football gods will decide they want to see Mr. Goodell and the NFL owners squirm and dump severalteen feet of snow on the field during the game; however the odds seem to be playing against that taking place.

But what if it did, many professional sports commentators who have been covering the game for longer than I have been alive seem upset about even the possibility of the weather having an effect on the game. “Its okay so long as its not sleeting, snowing, or the wind is to strong”; the general consensus seems to be that “we don’t want a poor footing, a wet ball, or a hard wind to influence the outcome of the game possibly causing the more talented and therefore deemed better team to fall short of the ultimate prize. I can sympathize with this position, I even stood on that side of the argument for the majority of the season, this being said as the last November and December games progressed my stance changed.

If you are not a fan particular team in the superbowl, and I don’t mean a band wagon fan or, I like this player so I’ll root for their team fan. I mean if neither of these teams are ones that cause grey hairs to sprout or at least loss of sleep on a Sunday after a losing, or cause you to do fall to your knees and shout out cries of joy (that may include rants similar to Richard Sherman’s) after beating a divisional opponent. If you are not a true fan of either team than if you are watching this game as a casual fan odds are you are hoping the commercials are hysterical. Even so if you have made it this far into the article you probably not a casual fan, more than likely you love the sport and just want to see a good, competitive, memorable game; and what would be more memorable than snow for the first time at the superbowl.

Think back on some of the most memorable games in NFL history, the Fog Bowl between the Eagles and Bears, the Raiders and Patriots AFC championship game in ’01 when Brady caused the tuck rule to be brought into existence there was so much snow watching from the home the game was barely visible on the screen. Or arguably the great game of all time the Ice Bowl when the Lombardi lead Packers faced the Landry led Cowboys in an epic showdown. The point that I am trying to make is yes inclimate weather may bridge the perceived gap in talent between the two teams but this may lead to a more entertaining and memorable night. People disrespect New Jersey on a daily basis where I’m from (center city philly) saying: “it’s the armpit of America” or “nothing good comes out of Jersey”. But in this case I find myself is disagreement, two amazingly talented teams will go head to head in the first ever cold weather Superbowl, the will with a little luck be among the most memorable ever.
