So, I was poking around on the server and found the bones of the NBA Draft section still up and running and said, why not bring it back? A few hours later everything was updated and ready to go so of course I had to throw down a quick mock for the culture.

Hopefully the Knicks get a Derek Rose that looks closer to the 2011 MVP than the guy we saw often injured.

Knicks fans are mad, but I think they need to calm down. Kris Porzingis isn’t the posterboard child Emmanuel Mudiay or Justise Winsow would have been in New York, but he’s the correct basketball pick.

The key factor in this selection is that your have to remember one thing. Phil Jackson is looking for a player to build around for the next decade. He isn’t looking to complement Carmelo Anthony. Melo will be 31 this upcoming year and hasn’t shown an ability to lead any team to anything beyond leading Denver to a single Western Conference Finals apperance.

Breaking down Kris Porzingis

Let’s run down him off the court:

• He’s only 19 and has two years as a professional player under his belt
• Russia has exported recent useful players much as AK47, Sved, and others
• Everything you read about Kris Porzingis show’s extreme self awareness
• Knows NBA players will test him as a “soft Euro” and is already preparing his body
• Has played with NBA coaches in ACB and is up to date on NBA game

Let’s run down what I like about him on the court:

• 7’2 IN SHOES, and may get taller (just pause and think about it)
• Already has NBA range including the three point
• Willing defender and if nothing more another big body at 7’2
• Played professional ball in the ACB, which is arguably tougher competition than last season’s NCAA

Knicks fans need to calm down. Kris Porzingis is probably going to be the pick that turns this franchise around. I think I remember the Mavericks drafting this German guy named Dirk Nowitzki and that worked out. The Seattle Sonics drafted this 6’9/6’10 kid named Kevin Durant who couldn’t bench 180, and that worked out. Kris has more Dirk/KD in his game than the Knicks fanbase even realizes. Scouts have called him the best player in this draft.

Maybe the question isn’t why Kris Porzingis was drafted, but what can you get in a trade for Carmelo Anthony?

That’s of course, if dunn is still the slang in NY. I wouldn’t know. Either way Knicks fans, chill out. Its too hot outside to get this worked up over a guy who just might save your franchise from the disaster that is the Carmelo Anthony and the Knickettes era.

Why? Very simple. New York is still the better option. Let’s chop this fable and break down the reasons why:

1. $30 Million Dollars

That is what year five is worth in New York. That year five that the Lakers cannot even offer with their “full max” (four year) offer. The funny thing is that Charlotte has the cap room to offer the same exact number, and Melo is team Jordan, yet the media doesn’t talk about that because it doesn’t get clicks…

2. Kobe and What Army?

What is Carmelo really coming to? No one really knows how Kobe’s knee will hold up again. Let’s say for worst case scenario’s sake, Kobe has a Dwyane Wade like “mini falloff” and only plays 50-60 games. That leaves Melo playing a third of the season with who? Julius Randle (rookie), Robert Sacre, Steve Nash (41 years old), and MAYBE Swaggy P Nick Young… if they can even outbid the market for him?

3. Phil Jackson

Phil is clearly working a long term vision for this team. Yes, Cleanthony Early is not going to win you a Eastern Conference finals next year, but chances are Carmelo isn’t going to play in the Conference Championship of either conference anyways. Why not let Phil continue the plan? The Knicks are aggressively moving malcontents and bad contracts off this squad (Ray Felton, Tyson Chandler.) Next year Melo will basically be able to hit the reset button on his Knicks career… and did I mention there is a $30 million dollar fifth year at the end of that road?

Fact of the matter is: as attractive as Los Angeles is, Melo will be a Knick.

With Phil Jackson as the President, the Knicks can still offer Carmelo an attractive package but “win now” situations like Chicago, Houston, and possibly Miami are going to peak his attention. If I had to put money on it I’d bet Carmelo will stay with the Knicks but we’ll see.

As planned, Carmelo Anthony will file notice with Knicks on Monday that he's opted-out of 2014-'15 season on contract, source tells Yahoo.

NBA peeps are worried about the Bulls right now. A starting 5 of Rose, Afflalo, Carmelo, Taj + Noah w/ Butler as 6th man is VERY doable.

Here is what Stephen reported:

“I was told this last week, I was told a few days ago, I had it reiterated to me by somebody I trust yet again this morning, that Carmelo Anthony is gone, he is leaving New York city,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take. “And he is gone because he’s at the mindset that in order to achieve any amount of success he would had to sacrifice not just this this year but next year as well, because of this current roster.”

With Phil Jackson coming in, I don’t look for the Knicks to make many moves. They will recruit Melo to stay, but if he leaves then I see New York sitting on their laurels for a year while Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler’s deal’s expire.
