The Ravens put up a good fight against the Chargers in Wild Card Weekend, but they still lost. Lamar Jackson looked like the rookie he is but eventually Baltimore was able to climb back into thanks to their veteran playmakers.

With the loss, the Ravens have some retooling to do. What will they do?

Cowboysfan hits us with his latest picks.

His 2019 Baltimore Ravens mock draft below:

Ravens are interesting, they have a good team, but they are incredibly old. They need to have a good draft, otherwise it can be problem.

1. Ravens: Riley Ridley WR Georgia

Round 1 The Ravens need playmakers on offense. You like Mark Andrews and Hayden Hurst. But their WR are so-so. Ridley is going to rise up draft boards as the draft nears. He was underutilized at Georgia. He is going to be a productive WR. He’s a little bigger than his brother at 6’1″ 207 lbs. He isn’t blazing fast, but has adequate speed. He is actually a good route runner out the gate. Not quite the route runner Calvin is, but he’s advanced for his years. He is a tough guy to bring down. Can struggle against press.

2. Ravens: Isaiah Johnson CB Houston

Round 3 The Ravens can’t afford to let their defense get any worse. They are very old by NFL standards. So they grab Johnson. Johnson is a lengthy CB at 6’2″, he’s skinny, but surprisingly tackles well. Excels in man coverage, but tends to give up some in zone. He is more physical than his frame suggests, but he needs to get bigger to handle stronger WR.

3. Ravens: Johnathan Abram S Mississippi State

Round 4 Probably the most physical S in this class. He will lay you out. He is good in coverage with underneath routes. Plays best when the play is in front of him. Can over pursue causing him to take bad angles. Doesn’t always wrap up. Can get beat over the top, as he lacks ideal tracking skills down the field.

4. Ravens: Jaylen Smith WR Louisville

Round 5 Jaylen Smith is a taller WR that has elite level speed. His lack of route running ability will push him further down the board. Ravens need playmakers, just grab as many as you can.

According to sources, the Baltimore Ravens have identified Oklahoma OT Lane Johnson as one of the prospects they seriously have their eye on. Lane dominated at the Senior Bowl so it is no surprise Ozzie Newsome threw him very high on the draft board.

With Byrant McKinnie hitting the road after the Super Bowl there is an opening on the offensive line for the Ravens. Is Lane Johnson on his way to Charm City?

With the draft rumors flying fast and furious on the day before the first round, here’s one we hadn’t previously heard: The Ravens like former Oklahoma left tackle Lane Johnson so much that they’d be willing to trade way up in the first round to get him.

That’s the word from Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun, who got the team “pissed off” at him the last time we linked to one of his reports, which was about John Harbaugh supposedly not wanting Ed Reed back. This time, Preston reports that the Ravens might trade up for Johnson, if they can make such a trade at a reasonable cost.

Well we may be a little bit closer towards that happening.

Today Manti took the time to address the media at the combine and was asked about joining the Ravens. Manti did not hesitate to say that he indeed would like to become a Baltimore Raven. Baltimore owns the 32nd pick in the first round and may have to trade up slightly to get Te’o if they want him.

We don’t know the answers to all that. We do know that the Ravens will be “pissed off for greatness” and looking to rectify last year’s playoff loss. With that said, center could be a spot they upgrade. Matt Birk is not the youngest dog in the fight.

Though his status may have slipped a little in recent weeks according to draft pundits, he is still considered the top center available. He also remains the player most connected to the Ravens at pick 29.

Veteran center Matt Birk re-signed with the team, but there are no guarantees that he plays beyond the 2012 season and Newsome has talked about adding another center to the roster.

There is also the option of using Konz at left guard, where the Ravens have yet to replace Pro Bowl performer Ben Grubbs, and then sliding him over to center when Birk is ready to retire. DeCosta said yesterday that he feels Konz could handle the transition.

It is the second such honor for Ware, who won the first ever professional Butkus Award in 2008.

The Awards will be announced formally on a special broadcast of Pro Football Weekly the weekend of January 27-29 on Comcast and Fox Sports Network (check local listings).

Suggs and Ware both received 46 points and 10 first place votes from the panel of 51 coaches, recruiters, scouts and journalists, coordinated by Pro Football Weekly. Meanwhile, rookie Von Miller of the Denver Broncos finished third with 14 points, after having won the collegiate Butkus Award in 2010 while at Texas A&M University. NaVorro Bowman of the San Francisco 49ers and Derrick Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs finished fourth and fifth, with 10 points. Six other players received votes, including 2010 winner Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers and 2009 winner Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers.

“Suggs and Ware excelled at beating their blockers and terrorizing quarterbacks,” said Hub Arkush, editor of Pro Football Weekly.

“Terrell Suggs had his best year in 2011 of his nine years in the NFL, especially against the run. He understands blocking angles as well as anyone, and has been one of the most consistent pass rushers during his career. He really stepped up his dominant play when Ray Lewis had a late-season injury.

“DeMarcus Ware is the best pure pass rusher in football. He is a persistent and dominating defensive player, and overcame an off-season foot surgery to regain his speed and explosion during 2011.”

In addition to Suggs and Ware, other 2011 season honorees include collegiate winner Luke Kuechly of Boston College and high school winner Noor Davis of Leesburg High School in Florida. A complete list of winners is available at www.thebutkusaward.com

The Butkus Award honors legendary linebacker Dick Butkus, who wants athletes, coaches and fans to join him in the I Play Clean campaign, which encourages teen athletes to train hard, eat well and play with attitude instead of resorting to illegal steroids. More information is at www.iplayclean.org
