Devon Witherspoon is a cornerback from the University of Illinois who possesses an intriguing combination of size and speed. At 6’3″ and 200 pounds, Witherspoon has excellent length and a frame that can add more weight and muscle. He has shown tremendous athleticism on the field, with the ability to run with receivers and make plays on the ball.

Witherspoon’s speed and agility make him a threat to disrupt plays both in man-to-man coverage and in zone schemes. He has excellent instincts and can read quarterbacks well, allowing him to jump routes and create turnovers. Witherspoon also has impressive tackling ability, with the strength and size to bring down ball carriers in open space.

Despite his natural physical gifts, Witherspoon is still developing as a player and needs to improve his technique and consistency. He can be prone to getting beat on double moves and needs to refine his footwork and hand placement. Additionally, he can be overly aggressive at times and needs to work on staying disciplined within the defense.

With his size and athleticism, Witherspoon has drawn comparisons to current NFL cornerbacks like Richard Sherman and Jalen Ramsey. While he may need some time to develop his technique, he has the potential to be a shutdown corner at the next level. As the son of former NFL player and coach Jimmy Witherspoon, he comes from a football family and has the pedigree to succeed in the NFL.
