2019 NFL Mock Draft: February 2019 Edition!

16. Panthers: Andre Dillard OT Washington St
The Panthers need to protect Cam Newton and they whiffed on Matt Khalil in free agency 2 years ago so they have to prioritize OL this offseason unless they want their QB to not finish the season for the 2nd year in a row.

17. Browns: Greedy Williams CB LSU
Williams falls because of the great defensive talent in this draft on the DL and for the 2nd year in a row the Browns are able to draft the best CB in the class. Greedy will make a great pair with stud CB Denzel Ward going into year 2 giving them one of the best young duos in the league.

18. Vikings: Jawaan Taylor OT Florida
Taylor is a plug and play right tackle filling a huge need for the Vikings who have multiple OL needs to fill. This is great value for Taylor as some mocks have him as the 1st OT taken and even in the top 10.

19. Titans: TJ Hockenson TE Iowa
Delanie Walker is getting up in age and has dealt with injuries in the last couple of years. Hockenson has drawn some comps to Gronk & could be what is needed to give Mariota a safety valve as well as another weapon to go along with Corey Davis who will be entering year 3. If Mariota can’t get it done this year it could be the end for him in Tennessee.

20. Bills: Cody Ford OT Oklahoma
With the addition of Antonio Brown, QB Josh Allen now has a true #1 threat at WR that will completely change the Bills offense. Now they have to protect Allen to give him enough time to get the ball to Brown. Ford can play either at Right Tackle or Guard but either way he will upgrade the OL from day 1.

21. Chargers: Dexter Lawrence DT Clemson
***TRADE***The Chargers trade picks 28 & 91(3rd rd) to the Seahawks for pick 21. The Seahawks have no 2nd rd pick and only 5 total picks with no projected compensatory picks. For years they have been one of the most active teams in the draft regarding trading. With the injury to Jeffrey Simmons, Lawrence may be the last top level DT that has a 1st rd grade and he would fill a major need for the Chargers who will be looking to go all in on the next few years with Rivers.

22. Ravens: Jachai Polite OLB Florida
Terrell Suggs is getting older and Za’darius Smith is hitting free agency. The Ravens need to restock to shelf at pass rush & Polite would be a perfect fit for the Ravens defensive scheme.

23. Dolphins: Jeffery Simmons DT Mississippi St
Again going with the tank theory. Simmons was projected to go in the top 10 but due to an ACL injury he will most likely miss the entire season. This is fine for Miami as they are not worried about 2019 but will be more then happy to have him in 2020.

24. Raiders: Josh Jacobs RB Alabama
Jacobs has top 10 talent but given the quality of defensive players in this draft & teams having other needs he slips to the Raiders at 24. The Raiders have more pressing needs on defense but it will be very hard to pass on a RB of Jacobs caliber at this point in the draft.

25. Eagles: Deandre Baker CB Georgia
The Eagles are set up will for another run in 2019 & have depth at most positions, but the secondary is a glaring weakness. They have thrown resources at CB in recent years but injuries have caused some picks to not pan out and their best CB, Ronald Darby, will be hitting free agency.

26. Colts: Trayvon Mullen CB Clemson
The Colts hit a grand slam last year in the draft after making the blockbuster trade with the Jets. The OL has been revamped and Luck returned to form but the defense still needs multiple pieces. I thought about WR but there should be some quality at the top of rd2. CB in my opinion is the bigger need and they can get a top player at that position in Mullen.

27. Raiders: Brian Burns DE Florida State
The Raiders MUST use at least 1 of their three 1st round picks on a pass rusher. They simply could not pass on Quinnen Williams at 4 and Jacobs was too great a value at 24, but at 27, they get their pass rusher. Pairing Burns with Williams, the 2 rookies should make an immediate impact on the DL and the sack totals should rise. I’d expect them to look to double down at pass rush in later rounds.

28. Broncos: Drew Lock QB Missouri
***TRADE***The Broncos trade picks 41(2nd rd) & 71(3rd rd) to the Seahawks for pick 28. Once again the Seahawks move of their pick to acquire additional picks. The Broncos have been linked to Lock for sometime but with the addition of Flacco they do not have to use a top 10 pick on him and if the draft goes this way they may not be able to pass on the chance to get him.

29. Chiefs: Johnathan Abram S Mississippi State
Even since returning from his battle with cancer, Eric Berry has still had many injury issues plague him. Even if Berry is back they still need to pair him up with someone else. Abrams is the top safety in this draft and is a good value meets need pick at 29.

30. Packers: Irv Smith Jr. TE Alabama
A bit of a luxury pick but since the Packers have 2 first round picks they can afford it. Jimmy Graham didn’t work out the way the Packers hoped but they still have a need for another weapon in the passing game for Rodgers.

31. Rams: Nasir Adderly CB Delaware
***Projected at Safety***Lamarcus Joyner is not expected to be back after being tagged last year and not extended. The Rams will have to replace him and Adderly has been flying up boards and could easily deserve to go in the 1st round.

32. Patriots: Dre’Mont Jones DT Ohio State
The Pats have multiple defensive lineman coming up in free agency and there is no way the majority of them will be retained. Jones may be considered a reach here but the Pats always identify a player that can fit exactly what they want to do and they go get them.
