WASHINGTON REDSKINS 2017 NFL Mock Draft:

4. Redskins: Malik Hooker S Ohio State

Round 1 The Redskins invested in Norman, but their secondary is still a mess. They have a decent defensive front, but ultimately they cannot cover anyone. Hooker is a good S who can patrol the backend. He has good range, and is quick to break on balls. He is very athletic, however he has not yet mastered the mental aspect. Teams will love his athleticism and big play potential, but may be hesitant to see him miss tackles and take wrong angles.

5. Redskins: DeMarcus Walker DE Florida State

Round 2 The Redskins have some nice pass rushers and front line players in Kerrigan, Smith, Murphy, and Baker. However, they still rank near the bottom in run defense. Walker, while not the talent DE is not small by any means. He has a thick base which keeps him balanced, and a strong lower body to keep the legs moving. He is excellent at defending the run, but isn’t what you would conisder a good pass rusher. He wins more on effort. He does a good job at getting his hands on the football to force fumbles.

6. Redskins: Cooper Kupp WR Eastern Washington

Round 3 The Redskins are known for their offense right now, so WR doesn’t make much sense. But Desean Jackson is a FA and may not resign, so getting another WR in round 3 wouldn’t be the worst thing. Kupp isn’t overly big or fast, but he does well by getting open and finding the football. He will let the ball into his body which causes some bad drops.

7. Redskins: Kendell Beckwith ILB LSU

Round 4 The Redskins need to improve at LB, because they have just gotten by at that position. Beckwith offers valuable size at 6’2″ 252 lbs. He does a good job in the ground game working off blocks and wrapping up ball carriers. However, he isn’t as good in coverage and isn’t super athletic. Because of this he tends to wait for ball carriers occasionally missing and letting them get extra yardage.
