2013 Mock NFL Draft – Part Two

2013 Mock Draft: Picks 16-32

  1. Tennessee Titans- Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU

The Titans shocked everyone and selected Wr Kendall Wright with a first round pick last year. Two year, two premium picks used on offensive players that will play a minimal role in the near future. Eventually it will be time to address the defense.

  2. New York Jets- Jelani Jenkins, OLB, Florida

The New York Tebows will find a way to manage 7 or 8 wins in 2012. When you get to play Buffalo and Miami twice a year it shouldn’t be hard to beat 4 other teams out of the other 12 on the schedule. New York selected Quinton Coples who will move all over that line. Maybach Maybin (Aaron Maybin) also has had a career revival, but another pass rusher is needed. This team is all about their pass rush. Without that rush nothing else happens.

  3. Chicago Bears- Manti Te’o, ILB, Notre Dame

Brian Urlacher cannot play forever, though he may make an attempt. Why not get Manti Te’o, right out of South Bend to come in and learn from one of the top 10 linebackers of all time? Makes complete sense. Which is why this pick probably won’t happen.

  4. Atlanta Falcons- Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

If the Falcons struggle again this year, some one has to be a goat. And let me tell you who it will be. Matt Ryan? Nope. Not yet. Michael Turner? Nope. Roddy White? Nope. Julio Jones? Nah. Sam Baker? Ding, ding! You just won a brand new offensive tackle!

  5. New Orleans Saints- C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama

Jonathan Vilma is not expected to play any of 2012, and may not ever be the same player after sitting around for a year on suspension especially at his age.

  6. San Diego Chargers- Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma

The Chargers attempt to rely on Bob Sanders pretty much said all that needed to be said. Eric Weedle is the highest paid safety in league history, and on the other side will be Atari Bigby or 3rd round pick Brandon Taylor.

If you are going to invest that much in one player, you have to make sure the other side is sured up as well. The new CBA gives the Chargers a top prospect across from Weedle with a locked in contract for the next four years. This is all dependent on the play opposite of Weedle of course.

  7. Baltimore Ravens – Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

The loss of T-Sizzler will be felt in Baltimore. Will someone step up? Sergio Kindle? Courtney Upshaw? We will see. He will be back strong in 2013, so I am not going to replace him in this 2013 mock draft. Floyd feels like a luxury pick with Ngata, Kemo, and Cody already at NT but Baltimore never shys away from picking the best guy on the board.

  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Kawann Short, DT, Purdue

I am not going to send the search party out for Gerald McCoy. Not yet. We are still trying to find Larry English. No updates on that either.

  9. Philadelphia Eagles- Chris Faulk, OT, LSU

Lots of people will mock Tyler Wilson or Aaron Murray here. I won’t because I think Nick Foles is Andy Reid’s guy for the Post-Vick days. With that said, you have to do whatever it takes to win a title with Vick asap. Losing Jason Peters to an ACL injury was HUGE. Will he return 100 percent?

  10. Green Bay Packers- DeMarcus Milliner, CB, Alabama

Charles Woodson cannot play forever. Or can he? Maybe, but the Packers still need to think about what is going to happen when he retires. Casey Hayward was a great pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, but you still have to think they want to add more defensive backs.

  11. New England Patriots- Kwame Geathers, NT, Georgia

The Patriots finally executed two first round picks in the first round of the draft. They took two defenders in Chandler Jones and Dont’a Hightower. That clearly shows you what the plan is: sure up the defense and try to stop losing Super Bowls in the final three minutes.

  12. Dallas Cowboys- Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame

Jason Witten is getting up there in age. He is still Tony Romo’s favorite target though. The heir apparent Martellus Bennet was let go, so it is time to groom someone else to take over.

  13. Detroit Lions- Barrett Jones, G, Alabama

If the Lions dont win the NFC in 2013, it will be because they ran into one of the buzzsaw defenses of the NFC in the playoffs. Their offense is incredible, but there is still room to improve on the offensive line. Riley Reiff will provide youth on the outside. Barrett Jones will be the future on the inside of the line.

  14. New York Giants- Brandon Jenkins, DE, Florida State

Osi wants a new contract? Guess what? The sky is blue, grass is green, and Wiz Khalifa just got arrested for possession. Nothing has changed in the world. Osi will play out 2012 whether he likes it or not, and the Giants will not extend him a new contract.

  15. Pittsburgh Steelers- Knile Davis, RB, Arkansas

I had this pick orginally as Tom Wort ILB, Oklahoma and changed it at the last minute. Forget that, the Steelers need a home runner hitter out of the backfield. Rasard Mendenhall is recovering from injury and is not expected to be resigned when his contract is up for multiple reasons. That leaves the Steelers running game in the hands of Issac Redmond and Jonathan Dwyer.

Knile Davis, if he returns from his own injury 100 percent, gives you a legit home run hitter in the backfield. He rushed for 1,300 yards two years ago and with a strong Junior season will be a first round pick. To top it off, going into the 2013 NFL Draft Knile will only be 21 years old.

  16. San Francisco 49ers- Landry Jones QB Oklahoma

If a team is going to pick a first round quarterback after going to the Super Bowl, it will be the San Francisco 49ers. See here is the thing, the Niners can easily get to the Super Bowl off the strength of that defense alone. That is a fact that no one with a right mind would argue. But how long are you going to let Alex Smith handcuff your offense?

If they lose the Super Bowl and Alex Smith has a game where he goes 10/25 or something similar the seat is going to be HOT. It is going to be time to get a new quarterback. Smith will only have two more years on his contract at this point which is perfect for Jones to sit and watch as he waits for his turn to man this team.

  17. Denver Broncos- Tavarres King WR Georgia

He’s a Broncos homer! You know what, you are right. But let me be happy about the Peyton Manning signing. Let me have my moment!

All jokes aside, you have to admit the Broncos have a great chance of winning the Super Bowl. In Indianapolis Peyton literally had the worst roster in the league aside from himself and took them to the playoffs routinely. Is there any other player in the NFL who’s right arm is worth 11 wins?!

With that said, the Broncos neglected the wide receiver position all off season. You signed Peyton Manning… Y U NO DRAFT WR?!!! Eddie Royal is a Charger, and Brandon Lloyd is a Patriot. The Broncos need another receiver even if Eric Decker and Demariyus Thomas prove to be reliable. Enter Tavarres King, a receiever from Georgia who hauled in 47 passes and 8 touchdowns last year, including a 205 yard game to end the season.
