John Fox Debuts Tim Tebow Package: It’s One Play Long

For all those clamoring to see Tim Tebow play for the Denver Broncos, are you happy now?  In the 23-49 blowout loss the Broncos in fact debuted a “Tebow package.”  It was exactly one play long.

Tebow took a shotgun snap and ran up the middle for exactly -1 yards.  And that is why the “Tebow package” won’t work.  This isn’t the SEC.  This is the NFL.  If the NFL figured out how to stop Ronnie Brown in the wildcat you don’t think they would figure out how to stop a QB practically doing the same thing?

I know, the Broncos lost and Orton had three picks.  Blah blah.

“Let’s get Tebow in there. He can’t be worse.”

I hear you.  However Tebow isn’t even the #2 quarterback.  What would that say to the team if they yanked Kyle Orton for the #3 quarterback just because he sells a lot of jerseys?

Exactly.

Let Tebow beat out Brady Quinn and move up the depth chart before we start having this conversation seriously.  But as long as Tebow is on the roster this distraction will remain and the Broncos only have two more weeks to trade him if they wish to remove said distraction…
