32 in 32: Who Will The Rams Draft?
The Saint Louis Rams made a huge step last year in finding a franchise QB in Sam Bradford and hiring new head coach Steve Spagnuolo to rebuild the defense. First round bust Adam Carriker was let go last offseason, and starting safety OJ Atogwe was let go just a few days ago.
Even with the transition the Rams went through on defense and offense, they still came within minutes of making the playoffs just ONE SEASON after having the #1 overall pick. To say that the selection of Sam Bradford payed early dividends would be an understatement. The future for this team is bright especially if the defense’s holes are filled in and young playmakers are added around Bradford.
So who will they draft?
1. Julio Jones WR Alabama
If Jones lasts this far in the draft you will definitely see the Rams take the young receiver. Regarded as the #2 wideout in the class, Jones had a great combine and showed flashes of brilliance during his days with Mark Ingram and Greg McElroy. Bradford would love to have a legit #1 wide receiver and Jones can be that man.
2. Stephen Paea DT Oregon State
With the ineffectiveness of Carriker two seasons ago, the Rams decided they were better off without him and may turn to a rookie to fill that void. Paea is the strongest DL in the history of the draft process, and should be healthy once the season starts. If they don’t get Jones, Paea is a nice consolation prize if he were available.
3. Corey Liuget DT Illinois
Once again, if Jones is not there the Rams shouldn’t panic and take Torrey Smith or some other receiver way too soon. Using their top 15 selection on a premium DT would give them the biggest bang for their buck. If Paea and Jones are gone, you could very well see Liuget or Muhammad Wilkerson from Temple taken here.
