CAM GONE? #Panthers GM Explains Why Will Grier Was Drafted & If Cam Is Getting Cut

Are Cam’s days numbered in Carolina? After the team drafted Will Grier at the end of the third round, fans wanted answers. Is Cam’s shoulder hurt more than we think? Is Grier the starter? Is Cam about to get traded?

Panthers GM Marty Hurney made a statement after the draft selection to clarify whether or not Cam has anything to worry about.

Here is what he said:

“Nothing to do with Cam,” Hurney said. “I said he’s our franchise quarterback. This is about depth and bringing in young guys and developing young guys. This has nothing to do with Cam Newton. Cam Newton is our starting quarterback and franchise quarterback. This is just about bringing in young guys to develop and depth.”
