The San Antonio Brahmas have signed veteran kicker Tristan Vizcaino as Donald “Deestroying” De La Haye is once again sidelined with a groin injury expected to keep him out for multiple weeks.

Deestroying, the popular YouTuber-turned-kicker, had made strides this season, going 5-for-7 on field goal attempts before his latest setback. However, concerns are mounting about his durability after another injury just three games into the season — a troubling pattern that mirrors his brief stint last year, which also ended early due to injury.

With Deestroying out, the Brahmas are turning to a more experienced option in Vizcaino. The 27-year-old kicker has spent time with several NFL teams over the past six years. In limited NFL action, Vizcaino has made 11 of 12 field goal attempts (91.7%) and 15 of 20 extra points (75%), with his longest successful kick being a 47-yarder for the San Francisco 49ers back in 2020.

While fans are eager to see Vizcaino take the field, the spotlight remains on Deestroying’s future. After two seasons cut short by injury, questions are surfacing about whether he can physically withstand the grind of professional football. Despite his high-profile journey from viral content creator to pro athlete, the reality of the sport may be catching up to him.

Is this latest injury a temporary setback — or a sign that Deestroying’s football career may be in jeopardy?

The Brahmas and their fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery, but the clock may be ticking on one of the XFL’s most unique stories.

The XFL announced they are holding their first ever rookie draft on June 16, 2023. Yes, the XFL has held drafts before but this will be the first ever draft for players not selected by an NFL team.

Here’s how the Spring football league (XFL), will draft undrafted NFL players into their league:

Scouting and Evaluation:
The XFL begins by conducting extensive scouting and evaluation of undrafted players who did not receive contracts or opportunities in the NFL. They closely monitor college football games, regional combines, and even consider recommendations from credible talent scouts to identify potential prospects.

Invitation to XFL Showcases:
The XFL invites the selected undrafted players to participate in a series of regional showcases specifically organized for them. These showcases could include combine-style workouts, skill drills, and scrimmage sessions. The XFL teams’ coaches, scouts, and executives closely observe and assess the performance, skills, and potential of these undrafted players.

Draft Selection Format:
To provide equal opportunities and maintain fairness, the XFL implements a draft selection format for undrafted players. The order of selection could be determined by a lottery system or reverse order of the previous season’s standings, with the lowest-ranked team receiving the first pick. This format ensures that teams in need of talent have the chance to select the best undrafted players first.

XFL Draft Day:
The XFL holds an exciting “Draft Day” event, similar to the NFL Draft, where undrafted players and their families are invited to attend. The event is being held on June 16, generating public interest and increasing the visibility of the XFL.

Selection Process:
Each XFL team is given a specific time slot to make their selection. The team representatives announce their picks, and the undrafted player is invited to the stage to receive their team’s jersey and cap, signifying their selection. The event is filled with anticipation and celebration as players realize their dreams of playing professional football in the XFL.

Contracts and Player Placement:
Once drafted, the XFL teams negotiate contracts with the selected undrafted players. The contracts could include appropriate financial terms, performance-based incentives, and other benefits. After signing, the undrafted players are assigned to their respective teams and begin their professional football journey in the XFL.

Preseason and Regular Season:
The drafted undrafted players join their teams during preseason training camps and compete for roster spots. The XFL provides a fair opportunity for these players to showcase their skills and potentially earn a spot on the team’s final roster. Throughout the regular season, the drafted undrafted players have the chance to prove themselves on the field, competing against established and emerging talent in the XFL.

By implementing such a process, the XFL Football League ensures that undrafted NFL players have a chance to continue their football careers in a professional league, while also generating excitement and fan engagement with the draft!

Finally THE ROCK has come back to the XFL! That’s right, the People’s Champ AKA Dwayne Johnson just announced he is planning to purchase the defunct XFL from Vince McMahon in a $15 million dollar deal.

Here are the details as of now:

“The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that’s rooted deeply in two things – my passion for the game and my desire to always take care of the fans.”

“With pride and gratitude for all that I’ve built with my own two hands, I plan to apply these callouses to the XFL, and look forward to creating something special for the players, fans, and everyone involved for the love of football.”

Hopefully this keeps guys working after we get a vaccine to end the current global pandemic. The XFL was always a great testbed for ideas that the NFL eventually adopted and I am glad that a power player like Johnson has it now.

IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK ISSSSSSS COOOOKIIIINNNNN!

Due to the ongoing virus concerns, the XFL has decided to shut down. All employees have been laid off and they are not coming back in 2021.

Vince had to make a choice and decided it was time to fold them. Even though the league had enough cash on hand to go three seasons without a profit Vince decided it wasn’t worth setting more cash on fire to lure a big TV deal down the line.

Hopefully all the players and staff land on their feet. It’s tough times for everyone. We have to hang in there.

The XFL is back and it is pretty fire. Vince McMahon continues to prove why he is one of the greatest American entrepreneurs of all time as he bounced back from a loss over 20 years ago to bring back the once laughed at league.

No the ball was not perfect, but guys competed and gave us a level of access that NFL players would never. Multiple players and coaches had hot mics at all times and let us in on the game in a way we never saw before.

With that said there are a few players who caught my eye and I will tell you they certainly will be in the NFL next year.

1. PJ Walker QB Houston

Everyone is talking about this guy for a reason. The ball comes off his hand with a beautiful touch and he just looks the part. He’s a little short at slightly under 6′ but the guy can ball. Tight spirals, timing, touchdowns, the guy had it all.

2. Cardale Jones QB DC

Cardale never really got his shot in the NFL. That will change soon. We all know what he can do with that big arm and body control at over 240 lbs. If I’m a team like the Redskins I don’t let Cardale get out of DC without giving him a real contract. At the very least Dwayne Haskins will have some real comp in camp.

3. Jordan Ta’amu QB St. Louis

Jordan is more of a raw prospect but you can see it’s all there. The elusiveness, the speed, and the touch. The accuracy and timing needs improvement but the guy is under 23 years old. He has a lot of the skills you look for already in tow. Starting professional games in the XFL will only make him better.

There are other guys like Sammie Coates and Shawn Oakman who will likely be in the league but at one time they were first round prospects so everyone knows about them. I just wanted to highlight the quarterbacks for now. The XFL is off to a good start and here’s to it staying around this time!
