Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is still awaiting a big break in his NFL career, and if things go well it just may be as a receiver.

The former Raiders, Bengals, and Seahawks backup passer has made a full commitment to his new role with the Browns as a receiver. He’s so dedicated so much that Pryor has decided to train with two of the best receivers to do it- teammate Josh Gordon and Hall of Famer Randy Moss.

Pryor has been posting pictures of his pre-camp workouts recently, some of which include Gordon in the group of players that have been working out together this month.

Randy Moss, Mike Evans and Antonio Brown are also involved in the workouts, giving Pryor several brains to pick for advice about how to make an impact for Cleveland in 2015.

Pryor said earlier this month that there aren’t “a lot of guys who work like I work” while discussing what he needs to do to prepare himself for his new role. The pictures and videos of Pryor pulling sleds, working on running routes, tracking deep balls and making one-handed catches show that he’s trying to back that up as he gets himself ready for the July 30 start of Browns training camp.

This may be Terrelle Pryor’s last shot. The former Ohio State University QB has again found himself on an NFL roster in the state of Ohio.

Just days after being let go by the Bengals, the cross state Browns are giving him a chance:

Pryor was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Monday.
Play NFL Fantasy Football!

When it became obvious that AJ McCarron was the favorite for backup duties in Cincinnati, the Bengals cut Pryor loose to allow him to catch on with another team.

The Browns reportedly aren’t excited about Johnny Manziel so this could be a wake up call to “Johnny Football.” Or maybe Pryor is playing WR and this is much ado about nothing. Either way, Pryor has to do everything he can to make this roster. If he gets cut by the Browns, we may not see him in the NFL ever again.

The Raiders have been struggling, and one of the key reasons is the stalled development of QB Terrelle Pryor. Pryor is a third year player who is still very young, but when you look at the numbers it’s hard to believe he is “the guy” even when you consider his elite scrambling ability.

SiverandBlackPride broke down the numbers and they are shocking:

Over the past four games, Terrelle Pryor has had a passer rating of 42.0 (45.7, 25.7, 55.7, and 40.9) with 1 passing touchdown to 8 interceptions. The last quarterback to have a four-game stretch that bad was JaMarcus Russell who had a passer rating of 41.2 (47.6, 46.0, 22.6, and 48.5) over the first four games of the 2009 season.

After missing on Tyler Wilson from Arkansas, do you think they draft another QB in the 2014 NFL Draft? Or do they bring in someone to legitimately compete with Terrelle Pryor?

It’s not hard to envision a future which Terrelle Pryor is playing another position. It seems he doesn’t have a natural feel for the position and may very well be best used catching passes instead of throwing them. We’ll see how the future shakes out in Oakland.

Head coach Hue Jackson broke down in tears after the win. The whole organization past and present shared in some very emotional moments after the game.

The team will also be getting a lift when their rookie Quarterback Terrelle Pryor comes off his NFL mandated suspension for “circumventing his collegiate suspension.” I didn’t know that if the NCAA suspends you for getting tatted up it applies in the NFL as well… never mind.

Either way don’t expect to see much of Pryor or if any of him at all when the Raiders play next. Jason Campbell is having a career year and is a steady hand at QB they haven’t had in a while. Pryor probably has a bigger upside but has less experience as a passer, especially in the screen heavy offense he ran at Ohio State.

Pryor is Al Davis’ last draft pick.

I actually like Terrelle Pryor, contrary to popular belief. I just want to see him play WR for my own selfish reasons. I think he can be a very good receiver with his skill set, and having him play QB could be wasting valuable time that could be spent developing into a true terror at WR. Like Jon Gruden told him “that guy Hines Ward, do you know what he played in college? Thats right- Quarterback. And he’s going into the Hall of Fame.”

Not saying that Pryor has HOF WR talent.. but we don’t know, he just might be the next Brandon Marshall or Mike Williams waiting to happen. The kid is 6’5 and runs a 4.3. You’re not finding athletes like that just anywhere.

Anyways off the rant and on to the news. Pryor allegedly scored a 7 on his Wonderlic test. Here is what PFT had on it:

According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor also received a seven.

McGinn suggests that the low score explains Pryor’s bad on-field and off-field decisions at Ohio State. We’re not prepared to make that leap, even though McGinn may be right on the money.

Most QB’s score in the mid to high 20’s. Donovan McNabb and Vince Young both scored in the teens, so it isn’t an indication of a QB’s value at all. Matt Leinart and Alex Smith have the highest scores recorded on the test if that is any indication we should take this with a grain of salt.

More commentary on Pryor in Oakland if you need it.

Pryor decided to leave Ohio State after the school revealed he would be suspended for the first five games next year.

I checked out ESPN’s “Mike and Mike” and Mike Golic is losing a lot of respect in my eyes. He was ranting about how Pryor was be given rewarded for “breaking the rules” and that it was horrible. HORRIBLE!

First of all, this isn’t a reward. This is a opportunity to TRY OUT. There is no guarantee Pryor will be drafted, and even once he is drafted there is no guarantee that he will make the team he goes to. He will have to actually EARN his way. Unlike what Golic thinks, there is actually a LOT of work ahead of Pryor for him to secure a pro career. Secondly, again with the “breaking the rules!” It has been reported by ESPN themselves that Ohio State made $2 million dollars last year selling the “Terrelle Pryor” #2 jersey. And guess how much Terrelle got? If you guess not a damn dime, you are correct! So Golic really needs to stop airing his fake elitism and look at this from the kid’s point of view.

I hope Pryor does well and EARNS his spot on a team. He will likely be a wildcat QB/WR. I do not see him as a QB in the league, and his potential at WR is far higher than any other position.

So Pryor has to lobby the NFL or sit at home for a year right? Problem solved?

*Puts on stupid mascot head*

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!

According to Yahoo!, Pryor has been permanently banned from contact with the University for the next five years and would have been declared ineligible by Ohio State had he stayed in school.

Ohio Statesaid in a letter to Pryor’s attorney Larry James today that the former quarterback has been “completely disassociated” with the program and would not have been reinstated to the team after his five-game suspension.

Source: Yahoo

This actually helps Pryors case. The fact that his school was planning to ban him behind the scenes is an unforeseen circumstance if I have ever heard of one.

I know it hurts to be the “fall guy”, but it’s time for Terrelle to focus on the next phase of his career. Maybe five years of not talking or thinking about Ohio State won’t be so bad.
