I think the selection of Josh Gordon by the Browns has the potential to look like a genius move.

Using a second round pick, the Browns got a WR who probably would have went in the same range in the 2012 NFL Draft and also got him without having to trade anything in the process. They will forfeit their 2013 second round pick for Gordon.

The selection gives the Browns a WR nucleus of Gordon, Greg Little, and rookie Travis Benjamin to go with their rookie QB Brandon Weeden and rookie RB Trent Richardson. In four years this draft could be looked upon as the one that turned it around for the Browns.

Caleb King signed a free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings. Mike McAdoo signed with the Baltimore Ravens. The rich just get richer… or as MDHQ NBA writer Jabari said:

yeah. I don’t get these teams that was an aggressive team full of pass rushers. great defense is overrated. SMH

Then I saw it…

Raiders select Terrelle Pryor in the third round of supplemental draft

At first I was worried, as I am a Broncos fan. Then I quickly realized this is Al Davis and the Raiders we are talking about. How long has the QB position been a mess in Oakland? Pretty much since 2006-07, whichever year was Rich Gannon’s last year playing. Selecting Terrelle Pryor is just another hasty move in the same vein of Jamarcus Russell, Josh McCown, Jeff Garcia, Willy Wonka, Homer Simpson, and whoever else has suited up for the Raiders these past 6 years.

The thing is I like Pryor. I like him alot. Just not as a QB, and not on the Oakland Raiders. Even if he gets a chance to play at QB the Raiders are going to throw him into the fire too soon and too early and never give him the chance to sit and develop. I call that “Alex Smith’ing” a QB’s career. It’s a shame that Terrelle will be looked upon to work miracles in Oakland when he really should be looked upon to study film and train privately for at least two years.

Terrelle Pryor has the physical ability to be a great WR. It’s just a shame we may never see that pan out. Going to the mess that is the Oakland Raiders’ QB situation is not good for any football player. I hope Pryor cashes in on his potential eventually but I am not betting on it. Good luck, you’ll be needing it.

Pryor decided to leave Ohio State after the school revealed he would be suspended for the first five games next year.

I checked out ESPN’s “Mike and Mike” and Mike Golic is losing a lot of respect in my eyes. He was ranting about how Pryor was be given rewarded for “breaking the rules” and that it was horrible. HORRIBLE!

First of all, this isn’t a reward. This is a opportunity to TRY OUT. There is no guarantee Pryor will be drafted, and even once he is drafted there is no guarantee that he will make the team he goes to. He will have to actually EARN his way. Unlike what Golic thinks, there is actually a LOT of work ahead of Pryor for him to secure a pro career. Secondly, again with the “breaking the rules!” It has been reported by ESPN themselves that Ohio State made $2 million dollars last year selling the “Terrelle Pryor” #2 jersey. And guess how much Terrelle got? If you guess not a damn dime, you are correct! So Golic really needs to stop airing his fake elitism and look at this from the kid’s point of view.

I hope Pryor does well and EARNS his spot on a team. He will likely be a wildcat QB/WR. I do not see him as a QB in the league, and his potential at WR is far higher than any other position.

So Pryor has to lobby the NFL or sit at home for a year right? Problem solved?

*Puts on stupid mascot head*

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!

According to Yahoo!, Pryor has been permanently banned from contact with the University for the next five years and would have been declared ineligible by Ohio State had he stayed in school.

Ohio Statesaid in a letter to Pryor’s attorney Larry James today that the former quarterback has been “completely disassociated” with the program and would not have been reinstated to the team after his five-game suspension.

Source: Yahoo

This actually helps Pryors case. The fact that his school was planning to ban him behind the scenes is an unforeseen circumstance if I have ever heard of one.

I know it hurts to be the “fall guy”, but it’s time for Terrelle to focus on the next phase of his career. Maybe five years of not talking or thinking about Ohio State won’t be so bad.
