The streets are talking about the 49ers and it isn’t good. Is coach Kyle Shanahan a choke artist? With the Falcons, Shanahan’s offense historically blew a 28-3 lead and now the 49ers blew a 20-10.

I think the fact is that with the NFL you have to keep scoring. Running the clock out doesn’t work if you aren’t getting first downs. No lead is truly safe the way that WRs and QBs cannot be touched.

All in all the 49ers had a chance on a late 3rd down while behind 20-24 but Jimmy Garappolo couldn’t hit a wide open Emmanuel Sanders for the game sealing touchdown. If your offense is built off getting out to leads quick you have to keep adding points even if they are FGs in this era. Guys like Mahomes and Tyreek Hill are a few seconds away from 7 points at all times and that’s exactly what happened.

The 49ers will probably be back as all their players are young and under contract. The Chiefs will have to pay Mahomes and we’ll see how that contract looks but if I was a betting man I’d say that the 49ers have the better long term prospects.

Don’t call them choke artists, just call them not the Champs. Because the champs are in Kansas City, Missouri. Not Kansas.

It was a feel good moment to see Peyton Manning ride off with his last W, but we couldn’t just have that now could we? Of course not. Between #BlackTwitter blindly supporting Cam to the media covering up Peyton Manning’s alleged sexual assault, there was a ton of controversy off the field.

Cam was vilified for walking off his post game presser which wouldn’t be a big story if it wasn’t for the skeletons buried in Peyton Manning’s closet. Recent stories have suggested a coordinated coverup by the Manning family that lasted Manning’s entire NFL career.

Things couldn’t be that sinister, could it?

Or could it be a old fashioned racial double standard? We have to ask the question.

Last time I checked the #Beyhive wasn’t filled with thugs and goons. So if we are just taking these officer’s words at face value they are apparently scared of…. random black women who enjoy Beyonce’ and Destiny’s Child?

Utterly hilarious. Needless to say these guys are grasping at straws because the dirt is in the limelight. You would think its time for them to address the real issue here in the guys who are way too quick in shooting these unarmed people. I guess it is easier to blame Beyonce, #BLM, and all the people peacefully marching out here.

Let’s run back Beyonce’s Super Bowl performance just to make them mad.

If you ask me, of course not. The Broncos went out and executed the best “3 and D” game plan of all time, hid Peyton Manning, and let Von Miller do what he does best.

However some people in the #woke community think otherwise. Blogger/media personality Doggie Diamonds posted a very interesting video that highlights the parallels between the Carolina Panthers and the Black Panther Party.

Of course, take it with a grain of salt but there are some good points made including:

• The Carolina team is the Panthers
• The leader of the Carolina Panthers is Cam Newton
• The leader of the Black Panthers is Huey P. Newton

I am a Denver Broncos fan. Through thick and thin, since 1995 I’ve watched this team through the ups and downs. I can name every mediocre QB that’s ever trotted out there for the Broncos. I can tell you exactly where I was for the flu game, the helicopter spin, the Orton to Stokley Hail Mary, the Tebow to Thomas Hail Mary, and every other important moment of the last twenty plus years.

I can tell you exactly how I felt the day I found out the Broncos traded Cutler, or when they traded Brandon Marshall, and when they traded Tim Tebow. I still remember my feelings when Peyton Manning decided to save us after the Tebow years… and I still remember my feeling when I saw Jacoby Jones catch the pass that he who shall not be named whiffed on horribly. To this day I still feel like the Ravens stole our Lombardi.

That’s why my reaction watching this game among my friends and Carolina Panther fans was one of utter disbelief. Total apathy. Total numbness.

Through the years of struggle I learned to never trust these Broncos. I learned to expect it all to fall apart right when it looks like they’re turning the corner. Right when the Broncos built the NFL’s best young offense, it all fell apart. When Peyton came back from neck surgery to bring us to AFC dominance, he who shall not be named whiffed and it all fell apart.

2012 was a disappointment but the Broncos bounced back with a year that was too good to be true. Peyton threw 55 touchdowns and won his fourth MVP award- a league record that still stands. They got back to the Super Bowl but it was again too good to be true.

My friends looked on in total disbelief as I showed no signs of anger as the Broncos fumbled the opening snap of Super Bowl 48. It all fell apart as Cliff Avril dominated the line, Julius Thomas entered the witness protection program and Eric Decker made a few business decisions regarding his free agency. I knew it. It was again too good to be true.

2014 was the year that history will remember as Peyton’s last dominant year. He broke the passing touchdowns record but it didn’t matter. The Colts had the Broncos number. Andrew Luck was here. The AFC looked as if it was going to be his. The Broncos continued into 2015 with even more players from Super Bowl 48 hitting free agency and finding new homes.

It was all falling apart. Again.

Things fell apart so quickly in 2015 the Broncos decided to end the suffering and bench Peyton Manning. 17 interceptions was enough. He couldn’t go out like that. It was tough to watch. The reigns were handed to Brock Osweiler for better or worse. But something special happened week 17 in a must-win game for home field advantage: things didn’t fall apart.

Peyton came in the second half of that game versus San Diego and did just enough. He didn’t even throw for any touchdowns, but when a play needed to be made he made it. When a crucial chunk of yards was needed Peyton simply made it happen whether it be with his arm or checking to a play to get CJ Anderson a running lane.

When Peyton came back he established something important on this team: buy-in. A quality that I haven’t seen on the Broncos since the team won back-to-back titles behind Terrell Davis’ legs and gave up trying to beat everyone with John Elway’s arm so much.

Buy-in is something funny in life. Buy-in can take any scenario and completely spin it on its head. Buy-in can turn a puny workout warrior into a competitive bodybuilder. Buy-in can take a man with $7 and a dream and turn him into The Rock. Buy-in can take a guy with average looks, average money and get him a super model wife. Buy-in can take a quarterback who’s incapable of beating defenses with his arm and make him an effective game manager overnight. Buy-in can take a team that’s GOOD and make them GREAT.

I say all that to say this: this Broncos defense did not win the Super Bowl because of talent alone. They won because they had talent and BUY-IN.

Peyton Manning did the one most important thing he had to do all season long. He gave up on the fast-paced, no huddle, pass heavy offense and he BOUGHT IN to Gary Kubiak’s run game.

History will never show that Peyton Manning was benched in favor of Brock Osweiler for FIVE games. History will never show that Gary Kubiak went against the same decision and inserted Peyton Manning in the final half of the regular season, down by 14, with home field advantage on the line. History will never show that Peyton didn’t even throw a touchdown in that crucial comeback victory. History will never show that Peyton was falling over himself throwing flutter passes throughout the Broncos entire playoff run.

Rings are another funny thing in sports. They can highlight the good, and they can bury the bad. This ring erased the “loser” narrative from Peyton’s career completely. He’s now 2-2 in the big game which is beyond respectable. Its not that history will ever remember that he won his first ring in a rainstorm versus Rex Grossman’s Bears or that he threw for less than 200 yards versus Cam’s Panthers.

Whether Peyton rides off to the Hall of Fame or comes back to play with another team I can say I finally have faith in the future of this franchise. John Elway has created an environment of buy-in. There is no need to panic when big name players leave the team. There was no need to panic when coaches leave the team. John has a plan. The players bought into John’s new coach. They bought into that coach’s plan. And that coach’s plan won Super Bowl 50 with who history will never remember as the worst starting quarterback in the league at the time.

More players and coaches will leave this team but the culture is cemented. These players believe in the plan.

And I thank them. Thank you for buying in.

GO BRONCOS – SUPERBOWL 50 CHAMPS!!!!!!!!

So what’s going to happen? Who’s going to win?

I’m 100% biased. Look at the site colors. How did you think this article was going to go?

The Denver Broncos will win this game. At least in my mind they already have.

To give you a football reasoning it comes down to this: can Denver keep up with Carolina’s scoring or slow it down enough to sneak a win?

Week 17 was the resurgence of Peyton Manning. It was also the beginning of a new chapter of his career. No longer was Peyton the young gunner, he was reduced to a backup in the season finale watching Brock Osweiler do his best but fail to move the ball consistently. Manning came into that game and did just enough to rally Denver to a 27-20 win that sealed home field advantage.

In that game Denver realized something. Peyton learned something. As long as Peyton isn’t asked to win the game with his right arm Denver has a chance with this defense versus anyone. Even Superman Newton.

Cam Newton can’t throw bombs to Tedd Ginn Jr. if he’s on the sideline with a towel on his head. And that is exactly what Denver is going to do. It will be an ugly win behind a lot of ball control and rushing game, but its how it has to happen.

With Peyton Manning “reduced” to a game manager you highlight his biggest advantage over the defense in his preparedness and you minimize his physical disadvantages. You allow the defense to rest and you force Cam Newton and the Panthers to try to make up for lost possession time.

I don’t hate Carolina so it’s really hard to see it any other way. Denver has to play like a Madden clock cheeser or they simply won’t have a chance. Gary Kubiak understands this and Peyton Manning’s body has forced him to understand this as well.

Denver grinds their way to an ugly 19-14 victory.

1. LeGarette Blount Was on Another Team

Had a police officer not stopped LeGarette Blount and Le’Veon Bell as they drove around under the influence, Blount may have never fell out with Pittsburgh. Blount stays in Pittsburgh, there is no LeGarette Blount returning to New England. No Blount in New England, no 148 yard three touchdown playoff performance against the Colts.

2. Jonas Gray Happened

Little known journeyman Jonas Gray torched those same Colts for 201 yards and four touchdowns in week 11. Then he overslept for practice and touched the ball just 24 times for the rest of the year.

3. Stevan Ridley was a Thing

The back we are all forgetting about, Stevan Ridley, is still on this team. Ridley ran for 1263 yards in 2012 in 12 starts, then just 773 in six games during 2013. He was a non-factor due to injury and coaches decision in 2014 with just five starts and 340 yards totaled.

4. The Other Tight End Killed Someone*

I don’t want no problems, so I’m just going to leave this here:

5. People Wanted the Patriots Disqualified

We’ll remember deflate gate forever, but we are already forgetting that there was a real grassroots movement to have the Patriots disqualified completely from the game.

Eventually we’ll forget that 11 out of the 12 game balls were deflated and that Andrew Luck looked like he was trying to throw a medicine ball out there. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have already been exonerated on all charges by the league, and as far as they are concerned this is water under the bridge.

6. Green Bay Blew Four Chances to Be There

From the fake punt TD pass, to Morgan Burnett’s infamous interception slide, to the Russell Wilson YOLO pass on a two point conversion, to the onside kick debacle, there is a lot of reasons why Seattle should have never been there in the first place.

At the end of the day no one will remember that Green Bay and MVP Aaron Rodgers had the game won for about six minutes and did EVERYTHING possible to let Seattle continue to gain possessions and score points. Eventually it cost them the game, and ultimately a trip to the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
