I tweeted “No way Barkley isnt drafted 1 overall,” then as a follow up “The only threat to go #1 over Barkley is if Logan Thomas has a Cam Newton like season”. Two thoughts that I hold strongly.

In terms of pure quarterbacking, not athletics, etc. Matt Barkley is the better prospect over Robert Griffin III. That’s right. Today July 17th, 2012 if there was a draft with both players I would bet my last dollar that Barkley would be drafted ahead of Griffin III. There is just a more natural feel for passing, anticipation, and the position with Barkley. That isn’t to knock Griffin III. Though I’ve never proclaimed Robert Griffin III to be a sure thing, I certainly see the potential.

With all of that said, ironically a story came out today that Barkley feels the same way. Here are his comments:

“I had confidence that I was going to go high, it wasn’t really a question of that as to why I came back,” Barkley said. “I think it was a sure bet that Andrew was going to go No. 1.”

Asked if he thinks he — not Robert Griffin III — would have gone No. 2 after Luck went No. 1, Barkley said he does.

“I had confidence in that — I think I could have been,” Barkley said.

What do you think? Am I crazy? Is Barkley a sure thing? Is Griffin the next Michael Vick mixed with Tom Brady?

By graduating from Baylor in three years Griffin has already completed his academic duties at the University. He has hopes of starting on a graduate degree next year. From the outside looking in it seems as if he has no choice. Griffin’s stock will never be higher than it is right now and there is nothing left to accomplish.

He must enter the draft now or risk forfeiting millions.

Staying in school only pits him against the SEC’s Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray, and Tyler Wilson in the 2013 draft.

So where will he go? There are a host of teams that could use RGIII but if I had to guess now I’d say the top candidates are all picking in the top 15 picks. The Washington Redskins, and Miami Dolphins are prime candidates. Don’t rule out a shocker pick such as the St. Louis Rams or Cleveland Browns as well.

Right now it’s looking like Griffin will end up being selected around the 6-8 spot by the Washington Redskins. Things can always change and Mike Shanahan can always out-guess himself, but for now the nation’s capital should get ready for the MOST INTERESTING QUARTERBACK IN THE WORLD….

We all know Robert Griffin III is taking home the 2011 Heisman Trophy.

Griffin has done the virtual impossible: kept Baylor a serious BCS title contender all season long, and beat Oklahoma for the first time in school history. Griffin ended the regular season with a stunning 3998 yards, 36 TD, and just 6 interceptions.

The biggest part of the story is not the hail mary, not the fact that he overcame the hype machine of Andrew Luck and Trent Richardson, but the fact that he did this at Baylor. A lot of younger fans don’t remember the negative perception that Baylor sports had just a few years ago. For those of us that do remember the name Baylor University is synonymous with a murder that happened a few years ago on the Men’s Basketball team. It took one of the greatest seasons in team history for Robert Griffin III to bring a whole new excitement and usher in the new era of Baylor Bears sports.

Griffin is currently a 80 to 1 (-8000) favorite to win the trophy on the books. It’s unlikely that Andrew Luck is able to get enough votes to surpass him at this point.

To put it in Robert’s own words:

I think Baylor just won their first Heisman tonight.

Congrats from MDHQ to Robert Griffin III.
