1. Steelers: Marshon Lattimore CB Ohio State

After seeing what Tom Brady did to the secondary, I don’t think anyone disagrees the Steelers need help in their secondary. I know a lot of people have Lattimore going top 10 in their mocks but their is also a chance he could fall, due to limited time in the starting role, and also his tackling form. Lattimore tends to create a lot of arm tackles which would have to be corrected. Also the Steelers love their Ohio State players so Lattimore makes sense here.

2. Steelers: Haason Reddick OLB Temple

Reddick is a very nice player as most people know by now. But Even a player of his talents could drop as well due to the depth of this draft. It happens every year with a select few players. This draft is heavy on TEs and Defense both of which the Steelers need currently.

3. Steelers: Jerod Evans QB Virginia Tech

Jerod Evans Virginia Tech- Big Ben flirted with the idea of retirement not too long ago. So Id imagine the Steelers would want to use a pick on a QB to develop until Roethlisberger eventually hangs up the cleats.

No inside info, but this is likely due to NIKE wanting to insert the color rush jerseys more and more into the league. The Steelers are set to wear a black on black version of the color rush palette this year.

The bumble bees are cool jerseys but aren’t really that appealing to the eye. Maybe it is the right time.

Every year we seem to mock a plethora of highly defensive backs to this team and they tend to go a different direction. With the current roster now, Pittsburgh is incredibly talented on the offensive end. If they can build a little depth they can produce wins against any teams in the league.

So what do the fans want?

1. Steelers: William Jackson CB Houston

He’s on the rise because this in a good but not great DB class. After Ramsey theres a drop off but a bunch of good and solid CB’s. With Jackson size and speed it’s a match made in heaven. Because he can not do worst then Allen for the Steelers plus he will cost less.

2. Steelers: Sheldon Day DT Notre Dame

Day can be a true nose tackle here. playing between Tiutt and Heyward he will get double team or will be free in most passing downs. He’s a great run stopper and his size is good for the Steelers scheme

3. Steelers: T.J. Green S Clemson

If Green makes it this far it’s a no brainer. Great safety in the 2nd rd but players do fall a lot. He can start if he’s smart and can learn the play book. I need pick here but has more value on the board at this point.

4. Steelers: Denver Kirkland OG Arkansas

Kirkland in the 4ht is a great pick here. Not to early and he will just be a depth player for the first 2 years. He’s got good foot work and long arms. He will push Foster next year for the left guard spot

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be but if they stay healthy next season they are already among the league favorites.

I don’t have the answers. But I do have the answers as to who the Steelers fans want to draft in 2016.

Jackson is what the Steelers need and should want. Big long armed with great speed for his size. A true #1 corner that they don’t have.

2. Steelers: Sheldon Day DT Notre Dame

Day will be a run stopping beast here. Between Tiutt and Heyward that makes 3 big nasty SOB’s to deal with.

3. Steelers: T.J. Green S Clemson

Green is the opposite of Mike Mitchell. He is more of a center fielder. He can play the deep ball while Mitchell is in the box.

5th Rd pick is Tyler Johnstone from Oregon. Add depth to the line and keep Ben safe with more blockers

Ward will always be remembered as one of the games most feared blockers, who often blindsided opposing players with crack back blocks.  He has two Super Bowl rings, a Super Bowl MVP, but probably will not make the Hall of Fame.  His 12,000 yards and 85 touchdowns are impressive but it is a stretch when Chris Carter and Tim Brown are still waiting on that call.

Is this real life?

This is not a fake story. Yes, it is true. The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Heisman Trophy winner and former Ravens QB Troy Smith to a contract today. The Steelers locked up Troy to compete for the backup QB position. You’d have to imagine Charlie Batch may be ready to hang it up going into his late 30’s and Dennis Dixon may not be back after free agency.

The Steelers have signed quarterback Troy Smith, who won the Heisman Trophy and has started eight games in the NFL, to a futures contract.

Smith, who starred at Ohio State before the Ravens took him in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft, played for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League in 2011.

Graham went off for 226 rushing yards and not one but two touchdowns.  He showed nice ability catching out the backfield and getting yards after contact. 

His official stat line went 26 carries for 226 yards, and 4 receptions for 42 yards.
