In case you are living under a rock, news broke earlier today that the Eagles are going to move to the #2 overall slot in the 2016 draft. They completed a trade with the Cleveland Browns which will net the Browns five draft picks in total. The Browns will get the Eagles’ first, third, and fourth this year.

So what player is worth all of this? Of course the net is buzzing. Eagles fans are on suicide watch while Browns fans are doing their best Milly Rocks right now.

Who would I be if I didn’t give you my thoughts on the matter? This isn’t the MDHQ for nothing. So without further adieu here are my picks in no particular order that the Eagles would trade half a draft and their first two picks next year for…

1. Carson Wentz QB NDSU

Obviously this is a long term play and does nothing to immediately fix the quarterback woes that Chip Kelly left behind. Wentz is a two-three year project and this team is already shelling out $34 MILLION guaranteed over the next three years between the two players they already have in Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel.

Would they really go $50 million plus in the QB hole? We’ll see…

The trades are coming in fast and furious. The Doug Pederson led Philadelphia Eagles are trying to rid themselves of the stigma from the Chip Kelly era and are going to do it in style. The first move of his first draft season? Jumping up and grabbing that #2 overall draft pick.

The Eagles have traded five picks to the Cleveland Browns to get that coveted #2 pick behind the LA Rams.

Here are the details of the trade:

Hopefully this helps the Browns provide some help for RGIII, and hopefully they don’t regret passing on Carson Wentz or Jared Goff in a few years (perhaps Deshaun Watson 2017?)

Eagles just gave Bradford and Daniel all that money… only to draft Goff or Wentz?

Maybe they are after Laremy….

The internet is still ablaze with their opinions over the Meek Mill/Drake beef. For those that don’t remember the beef all started when Meek exposed Drake in 140 characters or less for submitting a ghostwritten verse to him for the song ‘R.I.C.O.’ Drake clapped back with a coordinated effort of memes, tweets from big corporations, and not one but two diss tracks to Meek before Meek bothered to respond.

Since then the internet (I.E. Drake Stans) has decided Meek has taken a “L” because Whataburger tweeted Meek. This is all despite not one, not two, (*Lebron voice now*) not three, but FOUR Quentin Miller written Drake reference tracks have dropped.

I guess hip hop isn’t about facts or authenticity anymore and some of us just have to accept that. Which is why 50 cent is “beating” Meek in a beef in which again 50 has done nothing to disprove Meek’s disses except upload memes.

Is that what we’re doing in the streets now? Winning beefs with memes?

I think Waka Flocka put it best in this video:

Eagles coach Chip Kelly was finally served his walking papers with one week left on the season. There are a multitude of rumors running wild but we will save that speculation until the second shoe officially drops on this story. From everything behind the scenes it sounds like Chip may have done something very serious to hurt the prestige of the franchise.

Allegedly.

Anyways, here is the Eagles official statement on the matter:

Today, Jeffrey Lurie, Chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles, released Head Coach Chip Kelly.

“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” said Lurie.

Coach Pat Shurmur will be interim head coach for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

Chip kind of deserved it after he failed to cut Riley Cooper following his racist tirade and cut beloved players such as Desean Jackson for having “gangster” friends. He also traded a second round pick for Sam Bradford and replaced Jeremy Maclin with the ProFootballFocus dead-last ranked WR Nelson Agholor.

All good things must come to an end. One of those things will likely be Chip Kelly’s tenure in Philly along with his genius “system” which saw the Eagles depart with Pro Bowl talent left and right with no reward in turn. That is unless you count a three way tie for the NFC East with a losing record (5-7) as a reward.

With Chip likely on the way out it looks like the Eagles may be ready to get from under Demarco Murray’s big contract and word is that teams are interested in a Jimmy Graham like trade for Demarco:

Similar to Jimmy Graham‘s situation last year (in acquiring him from the Saints, the Seahawks took on three years and $27 million of what was a four-year, $40 million deal), the structure of Murray’s deal makes it so that a team that has money to spend (and a few actually need to get over the salary floor) could see it as workable. He has four years and $31 million left on the contract he inked with Philly last offseason, and only $9 million guaranteed. And $7 million of that $9 million is his 2016 base salary, which you’d be taking on anyway.

With the workhorse running back emerging again as a valued commodity in the league, don’t be surprised to see someone snag Murray up.

Who knows he just might pull a Lebron….

The Eagles are struggling under the leadership of Chip Kelly. Unable to stack up wins consistently, many are calling for Kelly to adjust his style in Philly. Will he run the ball more consistently? That is yet to be seen but we do know the Eagles are going to go down with style if they are going to go down.

Cowboysfan from the draft community has extended his picks to the rest of the NFC east and today we have brand new Eagles picks for you. What will Chip do? Check out this latest Eagles mock draft to see!

Picks below:

The Cowboys are currently drafting earlier than the Eagles, but I will save the Cowboys for last. Currently the Eagles are the second best team in the division behind the New York Giants.

1. Eagles: Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss
Round 1: The Eagles offensive woes are not only due to the QB, but to the WR as well. I don’t feel the Eagles can rely on what they have. Aghoular is more of a complimentary WR for them, and while eventually I think Jordan Matthews can be a good WR in the NFL, they need another weapon and they choose the highest rated WR in the draft. Treadwell is like a less athletic version of Dez Bryant. He has a big frame and large catching radius. He’s 6’2″ 215 lbs. He uses this size to his advantage shielding defenders from the ball. He has great body control and jumping ability to pluck balls out of the air. He has strong hands as well, that once it hits them, it’s near impossible to jar the ball loose. He needs to better perfect his route running, and he doesn’t have blazing speed.

2. Eagles: Cody Whitehair OG Kansas State
Round 2: The Eagles were foolish to let go of Evan Mathis and and right now it’s killing them. so they have to draft a replacement. Whitehair is the most versatile O line in the draft being able to play anywhere. He will draw comparisons to Zack Martin. He isn’t as good of a run defender but he isn’t lacking in this area. He has enough athletic ability to reach the second level and block in space. He has great awareness. If scouts see just how versatile he is, he could be a first rounder.

3. Eagles: Zack Sanchez CB Oklahoma
Round 3: The Eagles have one of the better defensive fronts in the NFL, but their secondary is weak. Sanchez isn’t the most physically gifted he is 6’0″ though, but he isn’t fast. He relies on his smarts and ability to read routes. He stays close on the WR hip. His football knowledge will allow him to play in a zone or man defense.

When the Eagles released Tim Tebow, coach Chip Kelly was pretty honest about the reason he let the former Heisman winner go. He simply wasn’t good enough. Chip was looking for a player with a certain threshold of talent to be his third QB and Tebow did not fit the bill.

Kelly said that without a doubt the Eagles would be adding another QB and within 24 hours he’s made good on that promise. Kelly will be welcoming former Miami QB Stephen Morris as the active roster’s 53rd man and 3rd QB:

OFFICIAL: #Eagles add Stephen Morris to the #Eagles53, claiming the former Jacksonvile QB off waivers. pic.twitter.com/TKRgzxDRJg

I guess this means that Morris is better than Tebow. At least in Chip Kelly’s eyes that seems to be the case.

And like that, Tim Tebow is again out of the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced they are releasing the former University of Florida quarterback as they cut down to 53 for opening night:

“Tim’s really progressed but we didn’t feel like he was good enough to be the three right now,” Kelly said. “He just needs to get out there and get more reps.”

Kind of harsh words from Chip. “Not good enough,” is something I would have been killed for describing Tebow as when he was with the Broncos but now we can all openly say the guy isn’t good and not get attacked.

It’s funny how the Tebowmanics seemed to shrink drastically in numbers over the years. And that’s wrong. If you’re a fan of the guy be a fan of the guy whether he is in the league, preaching a sermon, or commentating on a college football game. All this fair weather stuff is really lame if you ask me.

For the real Tebowmanics I have something special for you.

Eagles Only Mock Draft:

1. (22) Marqise Lee, WR, USC:
I think that Kyle Fuller, Anthony Barr, Odell Beckham Jr., and Brandin Cooks are off the board before the Eagles pick at 22. Lee is their fallback option and a pretty good one at that. Chip Kelly is very familiar with Lee because of his days in the Pac 12. Lee is a dynamic threat with good RAC ability (something Chip Kelly covets in WR) that has seen his stock fall due to a down year mostly because of inconsistent QB play and a lingering knee injury. Marqise Lee’s inconsistent hands scare me but I think he’ll break the trend of USC receivers failing in the pros and becoming a big time threat in Chip Kelly’s offense.

2. (54) Jeremiah Attachou OLB, Georgia Tech:
Attachou is my favorite edge rusher in an underwhelming 2014 class. He posses the ability to convert speed to power and win in one on one situations. Attachou is a versatile athlete that is comfortable playing in space. Billy Davis will use Attachou in a rotational role at ROLB with Trent Cole which will also maximize Cole’s effectiveness by keeping him fresh. Attachou’s and Barwin’s versatility at OLB will allow Billy Davis to use more hybrid looks on defense.

3. (86) Christian Jones, ILB, Florida State.
Jones shares a similar trait to the Eagles first 2 picks in this draft a trait that Chip Kelly covets on offense and defense, versatility. Jones is a great athlete that has long arms and is comfortable in coverage. He needs to add strength to shed blocks more consistently but has the frame to do so. I see Jones as a movable chess piece for Billy Davis because of his ability to play all 4 LB spots in a 3-4 base defense. Jones like Attachou is a rotational player in year 1 but will become a starter in place of a veteran (DeMeco Ryans) in year 2.

4. (122) Brandon Thomas, OG, Clemson.
Thomas won’t offer anything year one because of his recent ACL tear. He’s a 2nd round talent that will fall because of injury but I think the Eagles can stand to redshirt him this year. Thomas is a good athlete that’ll excel in Chip Kelly’s offense that relies heavily on athletic lineman making blocks out in space. With Evan Mathis aging and Todd Herremans declining the Eagles snag Thomas to replace one of the 2 in 2015 and my guess would be Herremans.

5. (162) Dontae Johnson CB, NC State.
The Eagles selected an NC State defensive back last year in the 5th round in Earl Wolff and I think they’ll do the same here. At 6-2 200 lbs Johnson has good size and is a physical corner with long arms that’ll excel in press man coverage. Johnson won’t be an immediate starter but will add depth to a position that sorely needed it last season. Johnson is a versatile athlete that can play CB or S this’ll allow Billy Davis to use more 3 safety hybrid looks without sacrificing coverage ability.

7. (237) Taylor Hart, DE, Oregon.
Chip Kelly coached Hart at Oregon and at 6-6 281 Hart has good size size and is a good depth option at 5 technique DE. Hart is a high effort type guy but not a great athlete. Hart doesn’t offer much in terms of pass rushing ability but his familiarity with Coach Kelly and defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro should maximize his potential at the next level.

UDFA Targets:
Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley State.
Larry Webster, OLB, Bloomsburg.
Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon.

Coach Andy Reid seems to have lost the hand on this team, and once again quarterback Michael Vick has been injured and missed games.

The defense has struggled as well. Last night against the Carolina Panthers we all saw how uncomfortable the Eagles defensive players look in their scheme. Trent Cole and Jason Babin used to be one of the most disruptive duos at defensive end, now they seem nonexistent. The defensive backs seem to have multiple communication errors every drive. All of those errors of course lead to easy touchdowns, four of which Cam Newton cashed in himself as they threw the dirt on the Eagles 2012 season.

With the loss the Eagles are now third in the draft and the question begs an answer.

Who will they pick?

Note: My new mock is coming either later today or early tomorrow so this pick may change there.

1. QB Matt Barkley, USC.
I know Eagles fans don’t want to admit it but this team is cooked. It’s over. This group of guys isn’t working well together, and all of that starts at quarterback and head coach. Of which the Eagles can grab a top QB relatively easy. Jacksonville picks #2 right now and will likely stay with Gabbert/Henne… leaving #1 Kansas City to take Geno Smith and the Eagles would get their pick of the remaining quarterbacks.

2. Manti Teo, Notre Dame
Some times a team says “screw it” and takes the highest rated player on their board, and worries about the rest later. The Broncos did it in 2011 when they took OLB Von Miller #2 over a more pressing need at DT and have reaped huge rewards. Would the Eagles just take Teo and find a quarterback later? It isn’t out the question.

3. Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M
The Eagles need to sure up that offensive line no matter who is the quarterback. King Dunlap is not very good… and that is me trying to be nice with my adjectives. It is time to replace King. With the #3 pick Philly can get a top tier tackle and worry about the rest later.

Eagles fans, who do you want?
