Yesterday the Seattle Seahawks made a power move when they acquired Percy Harvin from the Vikings. While many are applauding the move, I am among those that are skeptical over the value. Three players for Percy Harvin? Including a first rounder? It seemed a little steep to me.

Guess who it didn’t seem steep to? Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum. He believes his former squad should get the same if not probably more for CB Darrelle Revis:

“You look at the Percy Harvin trade, where it was a one, looks like a three in the future, and a seven this year,” Tannenbaum said. “I would think that would be comparable to what Darrelle is. They both have one year to go on their contracts. Obviously, he would have to pass a physical. Assuming that happens, I think that’s the relevant market.”

Considering this is the guy that traded for Tebow… I don’t know if you want to take his words for stone. Yes, Revis is worth some value but three players? I’d offer the Jets two mid round picks, at best.

Anyone who was keeping an eye on the Percy Harvin situation could tell you he was going to get traded. Despite the team denying for weeks and weeks that they would not trade the receiver out of Florida, they never offered him a contract extension. That only meant one thing: it was a matter of time before Percy was out.

With that said Jay Glazer reports that the Vikings have completed a deal to send Percy to the Seattle Seahawks. The Vikings got not one, not two, but three draft picks in return:

Seattle sends this years first round pick and a 7th rounder as well as a mid-round pick next year for Harvin. Win-win for both teams

— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) March 11, 2013

Three players for Percy Harvin?!! I’m not saying he’s a bum, but if even one of those players becomes an effective starter I think Seattle got ripped here.

We’ll see how Minnesota replaces Percy. Tavon Austin anyone?

He’s been criticized for his size(just 5’9”) and questioned on if he can be the same kind of home run threat in the NFL, but Scout’s Inc.’s own Todd McShay’s latest tweet suggests that Austin can be a difference maker.

“WVU WR/RS Tavon Austin might be the quickest human being I’ve ever studied on tape… Sent from my iPad” -Todd McShay.

McShay’s colleague at Scouts Inc. Kevin Weidl responded to the tweet with “not getting out of the first round.” Austin is mustering up comparisons of both Percy Harvin and Desean Jackson for his ability to effect the game both on offense and special teams.

I have a feeling that Austin will be turning heads during the combine and will help his stock immensely. He’s currently looked at as a late first round to early second round pick. If he does perform well at the combine I could see him sneaking into the top-15.

He’ll never be your prototypical number one outside receivers, but as a play maker and possession receiver, plus a creative offensive coordinator, Austin will be electric. He still needs to show he can perform against bigger defensive backs, struggling against Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro.

I think Tavon Austin would be a nice fit in either San Francisco at 31 or New England at 29.

Why would a 24 year old wide receiver who hasn’t even entered his prime request to be traded? Is he not getting along with teammates? Coaches? Or does he feel he is underutilized in the offense?

With 87 catches, and 52 carries in 2011 I am sure Percy is getting the ball enough. It seems that something is brushing Mr. Harvin the wrong way:

I’ll just put it this way — it’s a lot of different things that have to be sorted out. Just haven’t been real happy lately. So, we’ve got a couple things to work on. I’m here in the classroom, so we’ll go from here.

We’re kind of keeping everything in house. If specific people choose to tell you the stories, then they do. I keep everything in house and we deal with things in house. So, that’s the way I keep it.

I’m just not happy. I won’t go into how unhappy. I’m just overall not happy with a couple situations.

Reading between the lines it looks like Percy wants a new deal, and the Vikings want to see what he plays over the next two years of the deal.

After a little over 20 days, Randy Moss has been traded and now waived by an NFL team.

The Minnesota Vikings, the team that drafted Moss and reacquired him in October, are a team in total disarray. Brett Favre still has sexual harassment allegations circling him, and now there is questions about his ankle and chin injuries. Percy Harvin is playing well but just got injured. And Sidney Rice has yet to play a down in 2010. The Vikings could not be in worst shape right now unless….

…nah I dare not type it.

Anyways, acquiring “The Boss” Randy Moss for a 3rd rounder was supposed to be a shot of adrenaline for an offense going nowhere fast. But just a few weeks in Brad Childress has had enough and cut Moss. Depending on what you believe, either Moss quit on the team or offended the entire locker room over an incident involving a catered team meal.

The problem with cutting Moss so quickly is that the Vikings can ill afford to be throwing away draft picks when they have to replace Brett Favre. It is no secret that the Vikings don’t have much confidence in the backup Tavaris Jackson and will likely look to add a QB to the roster then trade either Jackson or third stringer Joe Webb. If the Vikings end up selecting behind other teams that need a passer they may regret not having the third rounder they traded for Moss. You need firepower to trade up in the draft.

Speaking of firepower, the Patriots own two picks in the first three rounds of the NFL draft.

Salute to you Bill Belichick, and I love you guys.
