After incidents involving marijuana and an altercation with his girlfriend DGB was kicked off Mizzou’s squad and thought about sitting out for the 2015 draft. Maybe the structure of Bob Stoops program is what he needs right now.

With Byrant McKinnie hitting the road after the Super Bowl there is an opening on the offensive line for the Ravens. Is Lane Johnson on his way to Charm City?

With the draft rumors flying fast and furious on the day before the first round, here’s one we hadn’t previously heard: The Ravens like former Oklahoma left tackle Lane Johnson so much that they’d be willing to trade way up in the first round to get him.

That’s the word from Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun, who got the team “pissed off” at him the last time we linked to one of his reports, which was about John Harbaugh supposedly not wanting Ed Reed back. This time, Preston reports that the Ravens might trade up for Johnson, if they can make such a trade at a reasonable cost.

Blacksportsonline brought this story to my attention in which a NFL Scout says that Jones is destroying his stock game-by-game despite his team’s W-L record:

He shows he can do everything we want him to do, he just hasn’t shown he can do it consistently in pressure situations. He’s great if his team gets a lead early and mixes it up on offense. If they get behind, and he’s got to lead them back with a defense pinning their ears back, he struggles.

My take: Landry Jones will be a developmental QB for a team that needs a capable backup. I’m thinking someone like the Jets, Raiders, etc. should take Landry and develop him behind the guys they already have. One day in the future he will probably be a starter but he will need to have some elite talent around him to minimize those perceived faults in his game.

The truth of the matter is that LSU, USC, and Oklahoma are all good but they all have to prove something.

LSU needs to prove they have a capable quarterback.

Oklahoma needs to prove they can win the games they are supposed to win *side eye at the Dec 1 TCU game*

USC needs to prove they won’t lose a random weekday road game. This years trap is Thursday Oct 4 at Utah.

With that said, a lot of players have peaced out from Penn State. Rob Bolden is now a LSU Tiger, Silas Redd is a USC Trojan, and now one more joins the list:

As has been rumored for the past several days, wide receiver Justin Brown has decided to leave the Nittany Lions and will play instead this season for Oklahoma. The Sooners were one of the first schools to contact Brown after the sanctions were announced last week and offer him a scholarship.

Brown flew into Oklahoma City Monday night, per a tweet from the player, and was on the practice field with his new Sooner teammates Tuesday morning.

Anyways, Landry Jones will be returning to school which is good news for Bob Stoops and crew.

The least excited person to hear that news was probably backup QB Blake Bell who has been used pretty much exclusively as a goal line FB this year. That sound you heard was Josh McDaniels falling out his chair. Oklahoma stands to be a National Title contender with Landry Jones returning to man the QB position. Along with Oklahoma you also have to like USC that will have the combination of Robert Woods and Matt Barkley for 2012.

It is very interesting that more and more quarterbacks are choosing to return to school. You have to wonder why? Maybe the new NFL CBA has reduced the immediate financial incentive, and guys are opting to extend their college careers and hone their skills for another year now. That is actually a good trend because it results in much better prospects down the line.

The 2013 draft just got real interesting! Jones, Barkley, Logan Thomas, Tyrann Mathieu, Sammy Watkins… I’m more excited for next year than this year!

Say what you will about Griffin and his hitchy delivery, there is something about this guy that just flows.  Not in the sense that “he’s a winner” but in the sense that RGIII has an Aaron Rodgers like calm to him that makes his ability to make big plays look routine.  Check out how nonchalant Griffin walks to the sideline.

BALLGAME.

To be honest, this was pretty much expected. K-State has been a remarkable story, and Bill Snyder has done an amazing job coaching this team up to play beyond their abilities, but there’s no denying the superior talent of OU. It’s felt on more than one occasion this year like Oklahoma was playing to the level of their competition. Not today. Sooners quarterback Landry Jones was unstoppable, tossing for over 500 yards and five touchdowns.

In the process, Jones passed the previous school record for yards passing of 468, which he had shared with Sam Bradford, and moved atop the Oklahoma career passing list with 90 touchdowns.

Landry will probably still go in the top 20 picks if he chooses to come out in the 2012 draft. With the logjam at the top it may better serve him to come back to school, and compete with Tyler Bray for the #1 spot in 2013.

Lewis, the preseason Big 12 defensive player of the year, will not require surgery. OU head athletic trainer Scott Anderson said the treatment for the injury will consist of rest and immobilization.

Lewis stands to be a top 50 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. He may have been a first round selection in the 2011 draft. We’ll see if he can come back and light it up for a few games in 2012.

5. Matt Barkley QB USC

Funny that the second best Quarterback in this class, and probably the one that will have the best career in the NFL  is so far down on this list (remember Luck is going to go to the worse team in the league and struggle for five years).

4. Denard Robinson QB Michigan

With his yardage totals, you have to put him in this list.  Although he is like Ted Ginn at QB.

3. Landry Jones QB Oklahoma

Currently has seven career games with four plus touchdowns.  Allegedly Bob Stoops calls him the next Sam Bradford.

2. Kellen Moore QB Boise State

He will beat Colt McCoy’s all time win’s record this year.  That alone means allot.

1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford

The best QB since John Elway?  That’s what Colin Cowherd said.  Once in two decades type of prospect.
