The Raiders took a big risk last year, clearing the team of big names and big salaries and mortgaging the next decade of Raider football on how well Jon Gruden evaluates talent in the next two drafts. Well, we will have to wait and see how that pays off but what better place to gamble than in Vegas? The team is moving into a new stadium next season (if its gets finished in time) and the fans need something to root for.

What is there to say about the Raiders’ season that hasn’t been said? Jon Gruden came in and made the team into his image for better or worse. Gone is Khalil Mack, gone is Amari Cooper. In is… we’ll find out in 2019!

Draft expert Cowboysfan1993 is back with his picks and this time it’s for the silver and black!

Check out the 2019 Raiders mock below:

1. Raiders: Nick Bosa DE Ohio State

Round 1 Original Pick The Raiders are projected to be picking at pick 2 as of right now, but if they get that pick or the next and Bosa is still available it’s a no brainer. Nick is a more natural athlete and pass rusher than his brother. He’s strong, well built, and naturally quick. Sure the injuries could hurt him a bit, but I don’t put too much stock into that. Don’t make this hard Raiders, and just draft this guy and replace Mack.

2. Raiders: Devin White ILB LSU

Round 1 (Dallas Cowboys) Dallas is projected at the 10th slot, and I would have liked to mock Deionte Thompson here, but he was gone to the Bucs, so they take Devin White. Josh Allen was here, and I do think he is a better player, but I doubt Oakland double dips into pass rushers back to back. White is a great athlete compareable to Roquon Smith. He has ability to cover, and knows how to get through traffic in the run game. His size could deter some teams, but again don’t make this hard, just find football players and call it a day. Too many times players were knocked for athletic profiles. Desmond King 2 years ago was slow and short, and is now one of the better slot CB there is.

3. Raiders: Jeffery Simmons DT Mississippi St

Round 1 (Chicago Bears) Bears are picking around the 20s here. They could go OT, but none left would be compareable to Simmons who compares favorably to Fletcher Cox. He’s a big dude, who will wreak havoc in the run game. He’s got some pass rush ability, but it’s not what he’s best at. Sure the off the field issue could cause him to drop, I think he’ll be okay.

4. Raiders: Amani Oruwariye CB Penn State

Round 2 Amani is a big CB at about 6’1″ and 205 lbs. Great size and weight for the position, is pretty physical in press, and is a good leader. This is only his first year starting despite being a senior, and his speed is going to be a question mark. But Oakland should be fully committed to improving their defense in a loaded defensive class.

5. Raiders: Yodny Cajuste OT WVU

Round 3 Donald Penn is getting really old, and the O line has been getting worse, so adding Cajuste is a big plus this late. I really like this guy due to him being a very good pass blocker and average run blocker. Originally I had a 2nd round late first round grade on him, but the more I watched the more I saw inconsistency, there are times where his technique is perfect, but then other times where you wonder if it’s the same player or not. He’s got to be better, but this is a good choice in the third round.

6. Raiders: Parris Campbell WR Ohio State

Round 4 Another inconsistent player, but has really good speed. His hands are okay, not great, but Raiders have always liked athletes, and he provides a deep threat for a team’s QB.

7. Raiders: Hunter Renfrow WR Clemson

Round 5 Renfrow is a nice slot WR, providing a reliable prescenece in the underneath game.

The Oakland Raiders are a team in a bind right now. They need a new stadium but they are allegedly no where close with the city of Oakland on coming to an agreement. The team flirted with moving to Los Angeles, but the St. Louis Rams already took the opportunity to play in the new LA Stadium and the Chargers are right behind them.

So where does that leave the Raiders? They have to find another option. So far we’ve heard about San Antonio being a destination but a developer from another city has popped up to put his cards on the table:

According to a story on Thursday in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Raiders owner Mark Davis is scheduled to meet Friday with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, “possibly to discuss stadium details,” the story said. Adelson is head of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., which owns several large casinos, and Adelson is also the new owner of the Review-Journal.

A Raiders official refused to comment on Davis’s reported meeting with Adelson, or on its subject matter.

It would be kind of cool to see a NFL team in Las Vegas. I’m not sure how well they’d do in the long run but the NFL is the country’s most popular sport by a LONG WAY and its a pretty safe bet you’ll get some tourist traffic to the games as well.

They have had the talent to get it done for years, and 2011 was the year it all cam together. Darius Heyward-Bey finally started logging 100 yard games, Jason Campbell had a plus 90% QB rating several games, and the defense is playing as if they never missed Nnamdi Asomugha.

But what will they do in 2012? A lot of people are predicting that they will reload in that defensive backfield. But what about building an offense for Terrelle Pryor?

Member of the site, raidersfan1985 has posted his third Raiders mock. Check it out and let us know what you think:

Fear not because Curry is now wearing that Silver and Black. The Raiders sent a 7th round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft and a conditional pick in 2013 based on playing time. He will rotate with Rolondo McClain and friends in the middle of that Oakland defense.

Maybe Hue Jackson can get something out of this guy and turn it around. Or maybe he is just a huge bust. We will see.

Head coach Hue Jackson broke down in tears after the win. The whole organization past and present shared in some very emotional moments after the game.

The team will also be getting a lift when their rookie Quarterback Terrelle Pryor comes off his NFL mandated suspension for “circumventing his collegiate suspension.” I didn’t know that if the NCAA suspends you for getting tatted up it applies in the NFL as well… never mind.

Either way don’t expect to see much of Pryor or if any of him at all when the Raiders play next. Jason Campbell is having a career year and is a steady hand at QB they haven’t had in a while. Pryor probably has a bigger upside but has less experience as a passer, especially in the screen heavy offense he ran at Ohio State.

Pryor is Al Davis’ last draft pick.

I actually like Terrelle Pryor, contrary to popular belief. I just want to see him play WR for my own selfish reasons. I think he can be a very good receiver with his skill set, and having him play QB could be wasting valuable time that could be spent developing into a true terror at WR. Like Jon Gruden told him “that guy Hines Ward, do you know what he played in college? Thats right- Quarterback. And he’s going into the Hall of Fame.”

Not saying that Pryor has HOF WR talent.. but we don’t know, he just might be the next Brandon Marshall or Mike Williams waiting to happen. The kid is 6’5 and runs a 4.3. You’re not finding athletes like that just anywhere.

Anyways off the rant and on to the news. Pryor allegedly scored a 7 on his Wonderlic test. Here is what PFT had on it:

According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor also received a seven.

McGinn suggests that the low score explains Pryor’s bad on-field and off-field decisions at Ohio State. We’re not prepared to make that leap, even though McGinn may be right on the money.

Most QB’s score in the mid to high 20’s. Donovan McNabb and Vince Young both scored in the teens, so it isn’t an indication of a QB’s value at all. Matt Leinart and Alex Smith have the highest scores recorded on the test if that is any indication we should take this with a grain of salt.

More commentary on Pryor in Oakland if you need it.

Then I saw it…

Raiders select Terrelle Pryor in the third round of supplemental draft

At first I was worried, as I am a Broncos fan. Then I quickly realized this is Al Davis and the Raiders we are talking about. How long has the QB position been a mess in Oakland? Pretty much since 2006-07, whichever year was Rich Gannon’s last year playing. Selecting Terrelle Pryor is just another hasty move in the same vein of Jamarcus Russell, Josh McCown, Jeff Garcia, Willy Wonka, Homer Simpson, and whoever else has suited up for the Raiders these past 6 years.

The thing is I like Pryor. I like him alot. Just not as a QB, and not on the Oakland Raiders. Even if he gets a chance to play at QB the Raiders are going to throw him into the fire too soon and too early and never give him the chance to sit and develop. I call that “Alex Smith’ing” a QB’s career. It’s a shame that Terrelle will be looked upon to work miracles in Oakland when he really should be looked upon to study film and train privately for at least two years.

Terrelle Pryor has the physical ability to be a great WR. It’s just a shame we may never see that pan out. Going to the mess that is the Oakland Raiders’ QB situation is not good for any football player. I hope Pryor cashes in on his potential eventually but I am not betting on it. Good luck, you’ll be needing it.
