n a stunning legal development, the renowned brand Kool Kiy has faced a significant setback, conceding victory to industry giant Nike in a recent trademark dispute. The outcome of the case has left Kool Kiy with no option but to acknowledge their wrongdoing and accept the consequences.

The central points of Kiy’s defeat are as follows:

Nike’s Trademark Ownership Upheld: The legal proceedings have upheld Nike’s ownership of all relevant trademarks. This vital decision reinforces Nike’s exclusive rights to their established brand elements, a cornerstone of intellectual property protection.

Kool Kiy’s Trademark Infringement Confirmed: It was established through legal analysis that Kool Kiy had indeed infringed upon Nike’s trademarks. This ruling underscores the importance of respecting intellectual property rights, particularly within the competitive landscape of the fashion industry.

Prohibition of “Air Kiys”: As a direct consequence of their trademark infringement, Kool Kiy is now prohibited from producing any further “Air Kiys” – a product line that had been at the heart of their dispute with Nike. This marks a significant blow to Kool Kiy’s creative and commercial aspirations.

Counterclaims by Kool Kiy Dismissed: Furthermore, all counterclaims that Kool Kiy had brought against Nike have been dismissed. This legal decision emphasizes the thoroughness of the judicial process and the careful consideration given to all aspects of the case.

This outcome underscores the importance of due diligence in intellectual property matters, as well as the critical role that legal processes play in resolving disputes within the business world. The ruling serves as a reminder that even well-established brands must remain vigilant in safeguarding their trademarks and creative assets.

The ramifications of this legal battle are expected to resonate throughout the fashion industry, prompting discussions about the protection of intellectual property, fair competition, and ethical practices. As both Kool Kiy and Nike navigate the aftermath of this landmark case, the business world will undoubtedly be closely watching how they adapt their strategies and approaches.

Kool Kiy’s loss to Nike in the trademark dispute stands as a significant turning point with implications that extend far beyond the legal realm. It underscores the importance of respecting intellectual property rights, while also serving as a lesson for brands to ensure they operate within the boundaries of the law and ethical business practices.

This move is effectively a arbitrage of older, conservative customers for younger, “urban” customers. Younger customers will not only will live longer & buy more product but this campaign will also resonate a deep emotional connection.

Wow, just wow. No other words can really explain my thoughts as I got the text message from one of my buddies.

NIKE announced today that the new face of their brand is non other than former NFL QB Colin Kaepernick.

It seems like every time we hear Kap’s name it is due to some sort of “controversy.” Words are that the NFL may or may have not blacklisted him for doing a season long protest of police brutality during the National Anthem.

Two years later the biggest American sportswear brand makes him the face of their brand. There is something to be said for being on the right side of history.

Kap risked it all and while this is a “W” in the short term, there is still a long road ahead of him. Now that he is with NIKE, the resources are there to really make changes in how we all engage with the athletes and sports we all love.

Just do it?

I think they just did it.

I hate to say it, but the NIKE brand may be dead family. Adidas has shifted their focus to fashion and exploded back into the popular culture where NIKE is still hanging on with big endorsers and performance gear. Under Armour is lagging behind with the lack of a spectacular Curry shoe, but NIKE may be joining them in the loser circle with this latest Lebron.

The Lebron 15 looks terrible. Just look at it. I don’t know what they were going for but no, just no.

Kanye West is back on the music scene after going into the fashion world for what seems like the better part of two years. West famously ranted about fashion companies not giving him a fair shake until Adidas gave him an offer he could not refuse to manufacture the now infamous YEEZY line.

So how would Ye’ follow up his success in the fashion world? Of course by doing what a rapper does: putting out a diss track.

It’s not another rapper that Yeezy dissed on his latest track, #FACTS, instead its corporations such as Nike that didn’t give him the help he needed making clothes. Kanye throws a bunch of jabs their way including name dropping Lebron James, Drake, James Harden, and Swaggy P during his assault on the Swoosh brand.

Check out a segment from the This is Ruck & Dwash Podcast in which we break down Kanye’s #FACTS:

Lebron James may be suffering from a lull in popularity on the court, but off the court things couldn’t be any better for King James. Lebron has starred in movies, created a media company, and invested in many other businesses.

One of the most successful business ventures James has been involved in is his NIKE deal which he signed before playing in the NBA. The deal expired and was extended nine years, but as of this week Lebron has said forget that and went ahead to form a lifetime partnership with the brand:

Would not be surprised if LeBron's lifetime deal exceeds $1 billion.

— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) December 8, 2015

Giving LeBron $1 billion over, say, 30 years, is a drop in the bucket for Nike, which will pull in north of a TRILLION over that time.

— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) December 8, 2015

The deal allegedly pays Lebron $30 MILLION PLUS A YEAR for the REST OF HIS LIFE! Just think about that. That is generational money this guy is getting for wearing shoes and headbands.

A low-end estimate of this deal combined with his basketball contacts and other deals will net Lebron’s career earnings easily into the billionaire status. Like the great Kevin Garnett once said, “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEEEE!”

Salute to the King.

I feel sorry for whoever has to break this to Kanye. The NBA and NIKE have announced a partnership for the apparel maker to supply the association with jerseys starting in –YEAR–

BREAKING: Nike and NBA to announce new 8-year deal to become official uniform of NBA. Will start in 2017-18. Adidas is out.

Unlike Reebok & adidas, Nike logo will appear on NBA uniforms when new uniform deal starts in 2017-18.

Judging by reaction of relief by NBA fans about Nike replacing adidas, adidas has a long, long way to go to establish credibility in the US

8-year deal between Nike & NBA that makes Nike official uniform supplier is worth approximately $1 billion.

Nike will pay NBA about $125M a year for official uniform supplier deal, which is a 245% increase from what adidas paid for previous deal.

SOURCE: @darrenrovell on Twitter

Hopefully this marks the end of those horrid Christmas jerseys and sleeved jerseys. It will be every interesting to see what NIKE cooks up for the NBA.

As usual, NIKE has decided to put it’s thumb on another historic college fooball game by ways of uniforms. NIKE will be providing Oregon and Ohio State each with 1 of a kind uniforms to display during Monday night’s title game.

Here are my thoughts:

Oregon: I like the white on white clean look. I was worried for a minute that NIKE would go crazy with the yellow and neon green, but the white and steel combo works. I like these MUCH better than the “highlighter socks” uniforms they wore during the LaMichael James era.

Ohio State: Nothing much to see here. NIKE kept it real simple, which I like. OSU has a classic look that shouldn’t be altered with in my opinion. The only thing NIKE really did was raise the location of the shoulder stripes a tad and add black to the TV/shoulder numbers. Other than that, these look just like the normal uniforms.

Both teams have a new sleek look for the title game. Who will prevail? We shall see!

Power is meant to be tested. @WinTheDay and @OhioStAthletics will clash for the title in Nike Mach Speed uniforms. pic.twitter.com/fHTPdaxqan
