Scouts are calling for teams selecting in the top 10 of this year’s NBA Draft to trade their selections due to the thin talent pool.
The Charlotte Observer published a story that suggests that the Bobcats should trade out no matter where their pick lies. The reasoning behind this is that there are maybe four coveted players in the draft: Shabazz Muhammad, Nerlens Noel, Ben McLemore, and Alex Len.
If the Bobcats or any other team cannot get one of those four players then it’s looking like they could be in a hurry to unload their draft picks:
“I don’t think this is a good draft,” said one scout. “This is the year you should consider trading your draft pick – no matter where it is.”
It appears unlikely that any lottery-bound team in the upcoming draft will find a franchise difference maker.
“The draft lottery was always supposed to be about exceptional players going to the worst teams,” said one of the scouts. “We’ve eroded the concept of ‘exceptional’ – exceptional doesn’t really exist anymore.”
