Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Doesn’t Want to Declare For the Draft

For the past what, five years(?) John Calipari has been sending top 5 NBA Draft picks into the league from his programs. That includes two #1 overall picks in John Wall and Derrick Rose. So if you’re a kid playing for Coach Cal there is a good chance the NBA is in your near future.

Except for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who recently said that he does not wish to declare for the draft any time soon.

“I’m graduating. I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying at Kentucky and I’m dead serious.”

It is likely that Calipari sits Kidd-Gilchrist down and tells him that he needs to turn pro and not risk injury or being lost in the shuffle over the next few years. There is only one chance for you to get your draft stock right, and you cannot mess that up no matter how much you love college. Michael can always come back to Kentucky and get his degree in the offseasons.
