Donovan Edwards is a talented running back from Michigan who possesses a diverse set of skills that make him a valuable asset to any football team. Edwards is a well-rounded player who excels in both the running and receiving aspects of the game. He is a patient runner who is able to read his blocks and make decisive cuts to hit the open field. Once he reaches the second level of the defense, he has the speed and elusiveness to break away for big gains.

In addition to his skills as a runner, Edwards is also a very good pass-catcher out of the backfield. He has good hands and is a natural receiver who can make catches in traffic and create yards after the catch. He is a willing blocker in pass protection, showing good technique and effort.

One area for improvement in Edwards’ game is his ability to consistently break tackles and finish runs with power. He can sometimes get brought down by arm tackles or go down too easily in traffic.

In terms of player comparison, Edwards’ skill set is reminiscent of Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints. Both players are versatile backs who can make plays in both the running and passing game, and possess similar elusiveness and speed in the open field. Edwards has the potential to become a valuable asset to any team at the next level.

The Michigan Wolverines are headed in the right direction under Jim Harbaugh. With a few top prospects already in Ann Arbour, all Harbaugh needs to do is lock in is another top class or two to bet back to the top of the B1G.

With that said, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get those signatures. Even if it includes having a “slumber party” with recruits’ younger siblings.

Here are the details of Harbaugh pulling sitter duty while recruiting current recruit Connor Murphy’s older brother:

Eight years ago, when Harbaugh was coach at Stanford, he recruited Connor’s brother, Trent, to the Farm.

When Harbaugh made an in-home visit, Murphy’s mother thought she was in labor with her daughter. Harbaugh was put on babysitter duty while Murphy’s father rushed mom to the hospital.

“Coach Harbaugh sat on my living room floor with me and we drank milk and played chess,” Connor Murphy recalled, saying he was 11 or 12 years old at the time.

LA TIMES

Milk, chess, and late night chit-chat? Sounds like something straight out of Ms. Doubtfire to me but I’ll let him cook. Hopefully Harbaugh doesn’t have to re-up on that milk or offer a rematch this time he visits Connor to get that commitment.

The NCAA Football franchise is a glimpse of hope in what has been a pretty bleak generation of football gaming. While Madden has pretty much been the same offering since 2007-2008, the EA team seemingly puts more innovations into the NCAA franchise.

While the NCAA franchise is always getting better and better, they have given the cover to a deserving athlete every year. Last year it was Robert Griffin III of Baylor. This year is will be Denard Robinson of Michigan.

Congrats to Denard and all of the fans who voted him in. Hopefully in NCAA 2014 we get the bowl subdivision teams, a feature that’s been missing since the Playstation 2 days.

While his passing was never the strong suit of his game, everyone can agree that he is an extremely talented runner and possesses rare speed.

In an article last year, I compared him to Chris Johnson and predicted he would be a kick returner/WR developmental player on the next level.

Related: Denard Robinson’s NFL Chances

Well, one NFL Ex-GM is making news saying that not only would he not draft Robinson as a Quarterback, but that he would remove him from offense completely!

“I’d draft him to be a cornerback,” Brandt said. “A quarterback never wants to be told he’s going to have to play another position, but I don’t think he can play quarterback in the NFL. I do know teams are always looking for cornerbacks, and I think Robinson could do it because of his quickness and speed. But he’d have to want to do it to make it work.”

This is a joke right? As the article over at BSO said, this is just like Jamie Foxx/Willie Beamen in Any Given Sunday. One of his coaches moved him to defense because he had quick feet and Willie messed his shoulder up tackling 220 pound running backs. This sounds like a horrible idea, with all due respect just let Denard run the ball.

It’s not because he isn’t talented. It’s because who knows what position he will play?

Robinson may be a wide receiver, running back, kick return specialist, who knows? We all know he won’t be a quarterback on the next level.

To add fuel to that fire, Robinson isn’t even starting at QB for his Michigan Wolverines anymore. This Saturday Robinson got the start at running back with Devin Gardner getting the start at quarterback.

What does this do for Denard Robinson’s draft stock? It probably kills it, at least as a QB. Robinson has been banged up lately which is why Devin Gardner began to play quarterback (he was previously a receiver), but it looks like the switch has been made. It’s Gardner’s job to lose right now.

On a pro level it is seriously doubtful if anyone has Robinson on their radar as a QB. The player he most recently compares to is former Appalachian State QB Armanti Edwards who went in the third round to the Panthers in 2010. Edwards is yet to log any significant professional stats. I think Robinson will be drafted in the fourth to fifth round as a developmental slot receiver. Will he make a bigger impact than Armanti and the other recent QB’s turned WR?

We’ll see.

Sad to say… that didn’t exactly happen. Robinson, who has been criticized for throwing “fair catchable” passes seemed to be his old self for better or worse. Alabama’s super talented defense made short work of the man known as Shoelace.

Denard finished the day 11/26 for 200 yards a touchdown and two interceptions. He still has a way to go as a passer and his most efficient way of moving the ball is still running it.

We will see how he rebounds…. just dont expect to see him in the 2013 NFL Draft as a QB…
