Marcus Mariota is the only unsigned player from the 2015 NFL Draft class. Will he sign with the Titans or will this thing drag out into the preseason?

From what’s being reported it seems as if Mariota and the Titans cannot agree on the details of the language in his contract. Mariota wants no offset language meaning that if for some reason he ends up on another team before his contract is up BOTH the Titans and the other team have to pay him.

“We’ve always had offset language in our player contracts. It’s nothing new,” Titans’ interim CEO and president Steve Underwood said. “I think it is important where a high first-round draft pick is concerned, because it’s the precedent. Everything that we do is precedential for the next round of contracts.

“So keeping the offset in place is something we want to be able to do going forward. And the minute you back away from the contract principle then you no longer are able to assert it going forward.”

Paul Kuharsky/ESPN

Call Mariota a lot of things, but you won’t call him broke or stupid.

Will Marcus Mariota become the latest Oregon to Philadelphia connection? If some wishful fans have anything to say about it, the Ducks quarterback will spread his wings in the City of Brotherly Love next year.

Some fans absolutely could not wait and have already begun to sell their own Mariota Eagles jerseys on eBay. Just check out the photos above. The seller, leafs81, is from Belmawr, New Jersey and has fetched $30 per for the jersey shirts. Not a bad flip.

Just in case you need a visual of how Marcus would look in his new threads, here are some Photoshops from across the web:

A lot talks and debates are going around the NFL News, with several players already declaring their entries for the 2015 NFL Draft. With the shake-up of both professional NFL players, Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston, a month ago, the upcoming NFL Draft for 2015 has finally revealed its top prospect player who will be soon be absorbed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their consensual pick.

Although, previously, Todd McShay of ESPN, has pointed Mariota as the top pick during his mock draft in December for the upcoming NFL battle for this year, rumors have been confirmed that it will be Winston instead for this coming season.

This has not been the paths for the two professional players; just recently, Jameis Winston has dramatically fallen down on his feet as he was suspended for one game as punishment for an uncontrolled scenario when he shouted out obscenity on campus. Almost everything did not go in favor of Marcus Mariota, on the other hand, as scouts were disappointed about his performance during college football championship game.

After grabbing his attention with his recent actions, Winston is apparently making some changes about his off-field concerns, which is evidently acknowledged by the scouts through his budding chance to play as the number 1 pick for the NFL 2015 Draft.

Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com, Charlie Campbell of WaterFootball.com and Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com have, all together, realized Winston’s promising performance in the field if his personal issues as well as battles were to be set aside.

Kiper even said that Winston is the most advanced on-field quarterback in the draft but until he realizes this fact and try to deal with his off-field matters, he may, somehow blow the opportunity to convince the teams that he can actually be the franchise leader.

Furthermore, Winston’s as well as Mariota’s performance were even paralleled citing that the former is a better prospect if given the chance to prove himself. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com stressed out further that having ideal size, arm, touch and strength, Winston is, undoubtedly, ready to play on Day 1 of the most-awaited NFL Season this year.

However, looking into Mariota’s place, experts felt that he has gone so far down as he may be the second pick for the Tennessee Titans or he may fall at no. 6 for the New York Jets. This is a brighter side for other interested teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles and Chip Kelly’s, former head coach of Mariota as they will be having a great chance to take the pick for his professional play in the field of football.

This is relatively a much easier as well as achievable move for Mariota as he can definitely wing for No. 4 or 5 as compared to swaying for the No. 1 pick.

As the NFL 2015 Draft nearly approaches, experts, fans, sports enthusiasts as well as the NFL teams are keeping their strands on the news for Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as with Mariota’s fate with his play in the field. With this interesting news, it is understandable how people are craving for updates every now and then.

Now that Oregon Junior Marcus Mariota has declared for the NFL draft, rumors are ablaze regarding the quarterback’s future. Can he make it in the league? Is he better than Jameis Winston? Should the Buccaneers pass on the Heisman winner?

A big rumor that has come out is one regarding the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are coached by Chip Kelly who just happens to be the same man who recruited Mariota to Oregon and started him as a freshman quarterback.

Will the Eagles pull the trigger? Should the Eagles trade up for Marcus Mariota?

If you ask me the answer is a resounding NO.

The Eagles under Chip Kelly have managed to win 10 games in two different years using a combination of Michael Vick, Nick Foles, and Mark Sanchez at quarterback. Those aren’t exactly first ballot hands down hall of famers I just mentioned. Not taking anything away from their talent, it’s just the facts of the situation.

If Mariota slips down within a few picks of the Eagles then by all means give up a miniscule amount of value to get him. But to trade the farm when you are one step away from winning your division? It doesn’t make sense when the Eagles can simply use those picks to sure up their offensive line and find a reliable young safety on defense.

This wraps up a week of your questions on the 2015 NFL Draft class. We have chopped it up right here on MDHQ on a lull of topics regarding this class including sleepers, my favorite players, and players who are going to be very risky picks in 2015. There is talent there, but also a lot of risk in this year’s class.

Here is the question:

if you’re a GM and your team REALLY needs a long term solution at QB… who do you draft?

Now first and foremost, there isn’t an NFL team that is brave enough to give YA BOY a shot at general managing. It goes without saying that this is totally hypothetical.

The correct answer is that I wouldn’t pick ANY of them. There are too many questions with this class. Jameis Winston can’t stay away from the bul#### in his life. Love him on the field but I can’t give him the keys to the franchise.

Marcus Mariota comes from an offense that relies on simple pre-snap reads (hence why he struggled with Arizona who disguised coverages with a 3-3-5.) Colin Kaepernick also came from an offense that didn’t require him to make detailed post snap reads now he struggles at finding receivers as a pro.

Brett Hundley has inconsistent mechanics and that’s already lead “Mr. 6 Players Traded for Me” Robert Griffin III to the bench in his third season. The rest of the quarterbacks have red flags and are excellent at one thing or another but very inefficient at everything else. Connor Cook is staying in school as well which doesn’t help round out the class.

If I HAD to pick someone I’d guess you’d trade the farm and get Mariota. He has the elite dual-threat skill set that has taken over the league and zero character issues. I’d want to bring in a coach with him that knows how to use such players without asking them to make a quantum leap in their processing of the game. Mike Shanahan’s first year with RGIII and implementing the pistol in Washington is a great example of this concept.

Check out the other questions that were answered this week: here.

And as always, check out the latest mock drafts here and here.

Thanks for the question:

1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel announces the three finalists for 2014: Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Alabama receiver Amari Cooper and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. -ESPN

So who will win?

I think it’s beyond obvious that Marcus Mariota will take home the hardware. Mariota boasts an impressive stat line of 3783 yards 38 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also put down another 669 yards on the ground with 14 touchdowns. The Ducks are also #2 in the country with a 12-1 record.

Melvin Gordon is your likely second place runner up. Gordon has 2336 yards and 26 touchdowns of his own, but he’s shown an affinity to fumble the ball which voters will likely hold against him. #13 Wisconsin also finished up the season with a 59-0 loss at the hands of Ohio State which does Gordon no favors (76 yards.)

Pencil him in as the top pick in 2015. This was a great decision especially with the sheer amount of passers that will be in the 2014 NFL Draft. The man who benefits the most from Mariota’s absense will be Johnny Manziel, if he declares as well.

One of the most interesting prospects in the 2014 NFL Draft is Oregon’s Quarterback Marcus Mariota. He is one of the most efficient passers in the nation, a Heisman frontrunner, and one of the best quarterbacks in general.

The only question is where does he go in the draft?

If you notice in our 2014 Mock, we don’t have Mariota mentioned. But why?

Before you cry and whine, it is because personally I believe Mariota comes back in 2015 and goes #1 overall then. It’s not because I’m throwing shade on his talent. As a matter of fact here is an excerpt from the first article I wrote on him two years ago:

Granted he’s a freshman, and not eligible until the 2015 Draft at the earliest but keep an eye on Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.

Yes he plays with insane talent in the backfield. Yes it is one game against Arkansas State. But you cannot deny the accuracy displayed in 18 of 22 passing, with 200 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

So you can imagine I was the least surprised when I saw him go #1 overall in The Big Lead’s latest mock. Here is what they had to say:

Right now, I give him the nod over Bridgewater. At 6-foot-4, 210, Mariota is the better athlete, and looks a bit like Colin Kaepernick at times.

I agree that Mariota is a better runner than Bridgewater and very accurate in that system. It’s looking like the new improved version of Colin Kaepernick may be here.

Yes I am aware Darron Thomas went undrafted and Jeremiah Masoli is out the league as well…. but keep an eye out.
