For those who may not be aware, LeBron James is no stranger to sports ownership. The Ringer founder Bill Simmons says he has “intel” that the NBA will expand to Las Vegas, and that LeBron James will be apart of the ownership group.

“I have some intel,” Simmons said on the latest edition of The Bill Simmons Podcast. “I think the league is going to expand to Vegas and Seattle.”

Simmons then doubled down on his “intel” and claimed Lebron James will be a part owner of the new NBA team. “If I had to bet on a Lebron scenario, it would be for him to be involved with whatever happens with that. Where he is the point man of that Vegas team. And I haven’t heard that mentioned. I don’t care if it gets aggregated because I think I’m right.”

Simmons claimed he even has info on how much the two expansion teams will cost. “I heard combined we’re talking 6.5, 7 billon of the two teams,” he said.

“I’m just saying the Vegas thing I would watch that,” Simmons added. “I think it’s officially real — Lebron is definitely going to be involved in that.”

Lebron is always going to do something to stay in the headlines so if we didn’t talk about #6 he probably would announce he’s buying the Pelicans and relocating them to Mars as the Toon Squad or something. I wouldn’t rule that out by the way.

In all seriousness, I dislike when athletes change jersey numbers because it totally screws the fans who invested in their original jersey. Some of us cannot drop hundreds of dollars on jerseys every year because our favorite players changed their minds. This is more of a shot at the NFL’s new single digit number guys and not Bron for those wondering.

One of the guys who won’t give Lebron any credit is Paul Pierce who had to create a super team himself to finally win in the Eastern Conference. Now he says Lebron needed a super team? Did he forget that Lebron had already been in the finals? Did he forget that Lebron’s 2010 Heat were a respone to the 2008-2010 Celtics?

Wait a minute, so Lebron James who is from Akron, Ohio, United States is supposed to use his platform to speak on an issue he doesn’t understand in a country tens of thousands of miles away from him? What happened to the days of being quiet when you didn’t have anything productive to say?

Where were all these people when Lebron failed to make a comment on the Johnathan Crawford III case in Ohio? You know, the case where an unarmed young black man was gunned down by police for carrying a pellet gun around Walmart that he took off the retail shelf.

Oh yeah, because that doesn’t fit certain media agendas and because America in general doesn’t care for that demographic no one cares that Lebron also side stepped that one.

The point here is that if Lebron is given passes domestically to pick and choose when to speak out then by definition he should be given that same discretion globally. He doesn’t want to speak on China and HK. A lot of us don’t. We aren’t there, we don’t know what’s really going on. Its best we all leave the global politics to the politicians.

It kind of hurts to see Nip get all this love after his passing because he could have really used it while he was here on his mission, but it is a nice gesture from NIKE and Lebron’s team regardless.
