NIKE is letting their creative flags fly in the NFL. Similar to what has happened in college ball with NIKE’s influence, teams in the pros are starting to experiment more with their color palettes and uniforms.

The NFL is behind this new “color rush” campaign that has teams wearing solid colors complete with solid color socks. The Bills unveiled a red/red combo last night along with the Jets who donned kelly green/green.

And now one more team will join: the Jacksonville Jaguars and their new gold uniforms.

Check out the photos of these interesting jerseys below:

Rumor is that the 49ers were looking to bring in some quarterbacks, and now they’ve got one of many players who will compete to play behind Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers have traded for the Jaguars former first round pick, Blaine Gabbert. It seems the Jags have decided to give up on the 10th pick in the 2011 draft.

The Jaguars will receive a 6th round pick for the quarterback’s services.

Here is the info:

The No. 10 overall pick in the 2011 draft never became the franchise quarterback former general manager Gene Smith envisioned when he traded two picks to get him and on Tuesday the Jaguars traded him to San Francisco for a sixth-round pick in this year’s draft and a possible conditional pick in 2015.

In his four years in Jacksonville, Gabbert threw for 4,357 yards 22 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

That is his right, but Mr. Blackmon is the lone unsigned top pick with a second year QB waiting on him to come in and work.

Here is the thing. When you do something dumb like get a DUI before signing a contract the other party has leverage on you. Plain and simple. The Jaguars know Blackmon won’t hold out the entire season and eventually will sign his deal with the protective language involved.

Shaid Khan isn’t playing around. Ask MJD, who is also unsigned and chilling away from Jaguars camp.

It’s widely believed that the Jaguars and Blackmon are far apart on how much of that money would be fully guaranteed even in the event that off-field trouble derails Blackmon’s career. There were already some league observers who thought the Jaguars were taking a chance on a character risk when they drafted Blackmon, and when Blackmon was arrested for drunk driving, those concerns were amplified.

If Blackmon needs some advice here it goes: sign the deal, get your butt in camp and work. If you are truly a changed man then the protective language won’t matter because you won’t be in trouble!

Justin Blackmon was arrested on his second DUI charge in two years, which is already a bad way to start a career. However what is even worse is that the problem is compounded by the fact that he hasn’t signed a NFL contract yet. Thus some are speculating the Jaguars will use the arrest as leverage to lowball Mr. Blackmon.

Due to all this, some people have begun posting rumors that Blackmon will hold out all of 2012 and re-enter the draft in 2013. Didn’t we hear something similar about Michael Crabtree and his rookie deal? Why is it always the receivers rumored to hold out an entire year?

This is not going to happen, point blank period. Blackmon will sign his deal, serve whatever suspension Godell serves up and play for the Jaguars.

This is not the best way to get a career off the ground.

Allegedly he blew a .21, so clearly he was in the wrong:

Talented receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested in the early hours Sunday morning on complaint of aggravated DUI, according to The Tulsa World. Blackmon was picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the fifth overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft after a glittering career at Oklahoma State University.

According to a Payne County Jail spokesperson, Blackmon was taken into police custody in Stillwater, Ok. at about 3 a.m. local time. The law in Oklahoma states that “aggravated DUI” is defined as the driver’s blood-alcohol level being at .15 or higher.

Credit: SI.com

There were talks of “character issues” surrounding your boy Blackmon going into the draft so its sad to say I’m not totally surprised. I just hope that someone lets him know that in the future he should call a cab if he’s going to get his drink on…

Here is what I wrote, exactly:

Tebow apparently is the one factor that can save the sinking ship that is the Jacksonville Jaguars fanbase.

Now that sad day has come as the Jaguars are imploding.

With Tim Tebow doing in Denver that which few believed he could do at the NFL level, Weaver undoubtedly is stewing about the failure of his football people to recommend drafting in 2010 a guy who not only would have easily filled the home stadium in the short term, but whose success could have allowed Weaver to permanently remove the tarps from EverBank Field.

“Star power is incredible, and Tebow is an iconic figure,” Weaver said in 2009. “That’s very compelling. He clearly is an outstanding football player and would be an asset to any football organization. . . .

“The game is such an important part of this community, and Tebow is such an iconic figure that people would legitimately think, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if he was a Jaguar,’” Weaver added at the time. “I’d be silly to sit here and think that’s not going to be a huge thing.”

So what happened in early 2010? With Weaver excited about the ability of Tebow, a Jacksonville native who played college football up the road in Gainesville, to sell tickets and strengthen the ties between team and community, someone had to talk Weaver out of drafting Tebow, from a football standpoint.

That someone most likely was Del Rio or G.M. Gene Smith, or both.

And now that Tebow has won five of six in Denver and the man for whom the Jaguars traded up to draft — Blaine Gabbert — has looked a lot worse than second-rounder Andy Dalton, Weaver’s blood likely boils every time he sees Tebow lead the Broncos to an unlikely victory, and every time he sees Del Rio lead the Jags to an inevitable defeat.

(Source: PFT)

After shunning an injured David Garrard for a raw rookie in Blaine Gabbert you knew the Jags were on their way to imploding. This team cannot sell seats, wins games, and has the smallest fan base in the league.

You have to believe that new ownership will do whatever it takes to correct Wayne Weaver’s mistake, bring Tebow home, and save the franchise. John Elway wants to move on, and the Jaguars need new blood in their franchise. It’s a deal you have to start putting together the first day on the job if you are Shahid Khan. You can figure out what to do with Blaine Gabbert later.

The Jaguars have all of the pieces on offense to be a great team, but the defense is another issue. The recent draft picks of Terrance Knighton and Tyson Alualu went a long way to fixing the defense but there is still more to be desired as the Aaron Kampman acquisition hasn’t worked out as planned.

So where will the Jags go in the draft?

1. JJ Watt, DE Wisconsin

When its all said and done JJ Watt will probably not last until this selection, but if he does there is no way the Jaguars can afford to pass on him. Aaron Kampman only posted just 4 sacks last year.

2. Ryan Kerrigan, DE Purdue

Kerrigan projects as a 3-4 OLB, but there is always the chance that the Jaguars could still select him in the focus that he adds weight to play the 4-3 DE position. Kerrigan is a fantastic prospect and may be the best value pick at this point in this draft.

3. Adrian Clayborn, DE Iowa

If Adrian Clayborn is available at this point, then there is a chance that he is the highest rated prospect left on the board. At 6’3, 283 lbs. Clayborn is a bigger prospect than Kerrigan and looks the part of a true 4-3 DE. There are character concerns but as long as no taxi drivers give him slack I think he will be alright in that department.
