Travis Hunter has officially etched his name into college football history, winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy and cementing his place as one of the game’s most electrifying talents. From the moment he made the groundbreaking decision to flip his commitment from Florida State to Jackson State under the guidance of Deion Sanders, the world has watched Hunter’s journey with awe. Despite facing immense criticism for his unconventional path, that bold choice has now become a defining moment in his career.

Hunter’s rise to stardom is nothing short of cinematic. After following Deion Sanders to Colorado, Hunter not only thrived but achieved what few could imagine—becoming a Heisman winner. His 2023 season was a showcase of unparalleled versatility and dominance, a performance that harkened back to the days of two-way legends like Charles Woodson, the last two-way player to win the Heisman in 1997.

Hunter’s impact was felt on both sides of the ball, with stats that speak volumes about his generational talent:

92 receptions

1,152 receiving yards

14 receiving touchdowns

32 tackles

11 passes defended

4 interceptions

This season wasn’t just about the numbers; it was about redefining what’s possible in college football. Hunter became the first HBCU player to win the Heisman, a historic achievement that came mere hours after Jackson State captured its first HBCU national title. His Heisman victory also arrives just months before Shedeur Sanders, his Colorado teammate and son of Deion Sanders, is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, further underscoring the transformative effect Deion Sanders has had on college football in just two years at Colorado.

What Deion and Hunter have accomplished together is the stuff of legends. From the audacity of leaving Jackson State to the seismic impact they’ve made at Colorado, this story is one destined for the silver screen. Travis Hunter’s Heisman-winning season is not only a testament to his talent but also a symbol of breaking barriers and rewriting narratives in college football.

Congratulations, Travis Hunter, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner and one of the greatest two-way players the game has ever seen.

In a college football season filled with standout performances, one player arguably stood above the rest: Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Despite putting together one of the greatest seasons ever seen from a running back, Jeanty was left empty-handed at the Heisman Trophy ceremony, losing to Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter. Fans and analysts alike have taken to social media to voice their frustration, calling Jeanty’s snub a glaring oversight by the Heisman voters.

The numbers alone make a compelling case for Jeanty’s Heisman candidacy:

334 Carries

2,497 Total Yards

29 Total Touchdowns

What makes these stats even more impressive is that Jeanty sat out more than eight quarters this season, yet still managed to post figures that rank among the best in college football history. He showcased dominance on the ground, versatility as a receiver, and the ability to take over games—key traits of a Heisman-caliber player.

In comparison, Hunter’s two-way ability certainly brought a unique dynamic, but critics argue that playing more snaps in blowouts and benefiting from a hyped media narrative surrounding Colorado and Deion Sanders shouldn’t outweigh Jeanty’s unparalleled production.

A closer look at the voting breakdown reveals an interesting pattern: Jeanty won both the coaches’ vote and the fan vote, yet fell short in the media vote, which ultimately cost him the trophy. This discrepancy has led to accusations of media bias in favor of Hunter, who garnered immense attention throughout the season as the poster child of Coach Prime’s cultural revolution at Colorado.

Fans have pointed out that Hunter’s Heisman campaign was bolstered by relentless media coverage and the narrative surrounding his two-way play. While Hunter’s achievements were undeniably impressive, critics argue that Jeanty’s consistency and historic production were unfairly overshadowed.

One common rebuttal in Hunter’s favor is his ability to play on both sides of the ball, a rarity in modern college football. However, detractors argue that simply playing more snaps doesn’t equate to being the best player in the nation. “Just because someone plays two ways doesn’t make them the Heisman,” one fan tweeted.

Jeanty, on the other hand, delivered a season for the ages without the benefit of extra playing time in blowouts or a constant media spotlight. His efficiency, dominance, and game-changing ability were undeniable, and many believe these factors should have made him the clear winner.

The Heisman snub hasn’t just left Boise State fans disappointed—it’s sparked a broader conversation about how the award is decided. Critics of the current system argue that media narratives too often dictate the outcome, leaving deserving players like Jeanty on the outside looking in.

Jeanty’s incredible season will not be forgotten, and as he moves forward in his career, he’ll undoubtedly carry the chip on his shoulder from this perceived injustice. Whether or not he holds the Heisman Trophy, he’s already cemented himself as one of the most electrifying players in college football history.

For now, though, the debate rages on: Was Ashton Jeanty robbed? For many, the answer is an unequivocal yes.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has clinched the prestigious 2023 Heisman Trophy, capping off a season that showcased his exceptional skills and resilience. However, Daniels’ acceptance speech took an unexpected and heartwarming turn as he dedicated his final words to his teammate Greg Brooks Jr. and his family, emphasizing a different battle Brooks is courageously facing.

Throughout the season, Daniels consistently wore a “Pray For Greg Brooks” shirt, exemplifying his class and compassion both on and off the field.

Despite the recognition and accolades, Daniels’ journey has been marked by challenges. Following his decision to transfer from Arizona State, his former teammates dismissed him with a callous directive: “Clear his sh*t out. He sucks anyways.”

Contrary to the dismissive statement, the ensuing records tell a different story. ASU, post-Daniels, has faced struggles with 6 wins and 18 losses, while Daniels, leading LSU, has achieved an impressive record of 19 wins and 7 losses.

The crowning moment of Daniels’ exceptional season was capturing the Heisman Trophy, joining the ranks of LSU legends Billy Cannon and Joe Burrow as Heisman winners. The triumph not only underscores Daniels’ individual prowess but also serves as a testament to his ability to overcome adversity and prove doubters wrong.

As Jayden Daniels etches his name in LSU history, his journey stands as an inspiring narrative of resilience, sportsmanship, and individual excellence.

Louisville QB Lamar Jackson wasn’t able to complete the comeback Saturday night, as the Tigers prevailed 42-36 in the most exciting game of the year. It came down to Louisville’s final offensive play as Lamar Jackson hit his #1 receiver in open field who pulled a Terrance Williams and failed to gain a first down.

What shouldn’t be missed is that in the biggest game of his life Lamar Jackson lead his team back from a 19 point deficit. Behind the scrambling ability of Jackson, Louisville put up 26 unanswered on Clemson and came back to gain a one point lead.

They say Heisman’s are all about moments and I think so far this year there isn’t a play this year bigger than this (0:11):

Remember the Heisman isn’t a merit-based award (I.E. stats.) The trophy is a symbol of a selection into a club of the best players of all time. While Jackson may not finish the year with the best completion percentage or the most passing yards it is hard to deny what you see.

By my eyes there isn’t a better player right now than Lamar Jackson and it isn’t even close.

Louisville QB Lamar Jackson is one of the hottest prospects in America right now. Even NFL legend Michael Vick had to put some respek on this young man’s name after seeing him start the season like a rocket shot out of NASA.

Defenses simply have no answer for Jackson’s quickness and speed in the open field. He reminds many of a young Vick, being a QB that can defeat you with his feet in non-scripted running situations.

Last year the sophomore quietly rushed for 960 yards and 11 touchdowns, but it is nothing compared to the 464 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns he ALREADY has this year. At this pace Jackson is going to put together one of the most impressive statistical seasons in NCAA history. His passing has even improved from a 54% completion rate in 2015 to a 61% rate in 2016. Very impressive.

Below is the footage of Jackson going crazy for 605 yards and 5 touchdowns vs. Syracuse.

Who will win the Heisman Trophy? All eyes are on the running backs. Whether it is Leonard Fournette or Christian McCaffrey, they have a great chance to literally run away with the hardware this year.

What do the smart guys think?

Here are the current odds to win the 2017 Heisman Trophy:

Leonard Fournette, 9/2

Deshaun Watson, 5/1

Christian McCaffrey, 11/2

J.T. Barrett, 12/1

Dalvin Cook, 12/1

Baker Mayfield, 12/1

I still think McCaffrey has the best chance (a) due to scheduling and (b) because he can do everything. There are some good candidates on this list and everyone has a shot as long as they are healthy. We will see how the race plays out on the field.

1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel announces the three finalists for 2014: Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Alabama receiver Amari Cooper and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. -ESPN

So who will win?

I think it’s beyond obvious that Marcus Mariota will take home the hardware. Mariota boasts an impressive stat line of 3783 yards 38 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also put down another 669 yards on the ground with 14 touchdowns. The Ducks are also #2 in the country with a 12-1 record.

Melvin Gordon is your likely second place runner up. Gordon has 2336 yards and 26 touchdowns of his own, but he’s shown an affinity to fumble the ball which voters will likely hold against him. #13 Wisconsin also finished up the season with a 59-0 loss at the hands of Ohio State which does Gordon no favors (76 yards.)
