With that said, the wise guys are saying that the Ducks are the way to go this year:

In the latest set of Bovada.com odds, top-ranked Oregon is the new scratch favorite to win the 2012 BcS championship at 1/1. The Ducks were 3/1 last week after beginning the 2012 season at 10/1.

Here are the details:

“I came to this decision on behalf of myself and my family,” Thomas said in a prepared statement released by Oregon. “I have a dream of playing in the NFL and I’m going to pursue those dreams.

I believe Thomas will be a 5th round pick at best. He is accurate with the football and mobile. There are questions about his ability to adjust to a pro style offense along with his slight frame that will be a liability when he starts taking professional hits. Some also feel he may be a product of the system.

You have to imagine why would he declare so suddenly? A rumor going around is that Oregon may be hit with NCAA regulations regarding the recruitment of several of their current players… I hope that is not true but it sounds about right.

Did he just see Fast and Furious 5 or something? There is no reason to be driving that fast around Portland.

According to ESPN, Cliff has over $8,000 in unpaid fines. The NCAA is already checking out Oregon for their use of a “scouting service” and now this. For a team that may be in the National Title picture they have got to clear the off the field distractions.

Hopefully this is the last time we hear about something going on with the Oregon program, but for some reason I don’t think so…
