The Deshaun Watson story is over. The Cleveland Browns QB is now clear to continue his life after settling 23 of 24 cases (one thrown out) and settling on a punishment with the NFL. The NFL has decided to hand Watson 6 games of suspension which is basically a slap on the wrist in a 17 game season.

Here is how the NFL came to 6 games for Watson:

More than two years after the first civil lawsuit was filed against Deshaun Watson, disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson has suspended the Cleveland Browns quarterback for the first six games of the 2022 season, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Robinson, jointly appointed by the NFL and NFL Players Association to rule on the case and administer any punishment, listened to arguments from the league, the union and Watson’s attorney during a three-day hearing held in her home state of Delaware in late June. The NFL had been pushing for a suspension of at least a year, while the union and Watson’s attorney argued that the quarterback should not be suspended at all. The sides discussed a potential settlement all the way up through the hearing, but they could not agree to a deal.

In the days leading up to Robinson’s decision, the league and Watson’s side engaged in further settlement talks, sources told ESPN’s Dan Graziano, but neither side ever felt they were close to an agreement. The most Watson’s side indicated it was willing to offer was a suspension in the range of six to eight games, according to sources. The best the league indicated it was willing to offer was a 12-game suspension and a significant fine — in the range of $8 million, sources said. While the NFLPA said it will not appeal the decision, the league.

The problem people are having is that Watson’s suspension doesn’t seem to be in line with other suspensions that the NFL has handed down.

Hopefully Watson can stay out of trouble now. The Browns need him on the field and available.

The NFL is handling the Deshaun Watson situation with careful hands and it seems as if they are ready to start handing down consequences. Soon the NFL will argue that Watson should receive and unprecedented amount of suspension time and word is that it will be a year or even possibly more.

This trade may backfire in the Browns face as Watson’s contract is fully guaranteed but we’ll see.

Here is the news on Deshaun Watson’s possible one year suspension:

The NFL will argue that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson should receive a “significant” suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, multiple people familiar with the case said Friday.

The league “probably” will seek a suspension of one full season for Watson, a person on Watson’s side of the case said Friday. A person familiar with the league’s view of the case cautioned to be “careful” about specifying a precise length at this point for the suspension the NFL will seek. But that person also said: “Significant would be the proper term.”

Deshaun Watson attended two hearings today regarding his issues down in Houston and here is the rundown. On the criminal side there was not enough evidence to indict him. That means that he didn’t necessarily not do anything, but that the state cannot see themselves winning due to lack of evidence and will not move forward on the case.

Deshaun is a lucky guy as that means his NFL career is now free to resume. There aren’t going to be any police waiting to put him in cuffs after any games in the future.

Deshaun pleaded the 5th on every question in the civil hearing which is not done. He will likely have to give up some money to settle those cases but it is a small price to pay to get an NFL career back.

Here are the details:

A grand jury on Friday declined to indict Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson following a police investigation sparked by lawsuits filed by 22 women who have accused him of harassment and sexual assault.

Prosecutors from the district attorney’s office in Harris County, Texas, presented evidence and testimony to the 12-person grand jury for over six hours on Friday related to nine of the 10 criminal complaints filed against Watson. The grand jury, which does not require a unanimous vote, rejected all nine cases; prosecutors did not present the 10th.

Rumor has it that if Watson could have settled with his 22 accusers before the 2021 deadline the Dolphins were ready to trade for him but ultimately that did not happen.

At this point I’m wondering if we’ll ever see Deshaun play football any time soon.

Deshaun Watson is looking to get out of Houston soon. According to sources he will be going to the Dolphins but now we know what happened between the Houston Texans and the Philadelphia Eagles in previous trade talks.

According to Texans reporter, Aaron Wilson, Watson let it be known that he would NOT be removing his no trade clause to join the midnight green.

Here are the details:

“At one point, Philadelphia was really aggressive in this, to the point where Howie Roseman had even contacted Deshaun’s legal team, he sent an investigator down here… He had done a lot of leg work on this. Eventually what he ascertained, and I reported this back in August and late July as well, was that Deshaun wouldn’t waive his no trade clause for the Eagles,”

Wow, the Eagles have really fallen that far. It is amazing to think about how quickly they fell off after the Super Bowl LII win. Maybe sooner rather than later they will find a franchise quarterback, but for now we know it will not be Deshaun Watson.

Here are the details:

The Texans and Dolphins could have a trade done by the end of the week, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. If they’re unable to complete a trade this week, they hope to have it done by the NFL’s Nov. 2 trade deadline.

What will become of Tua? It looks like he isn’t currently a NFL starter but then again consider the scheme and team around him. He may do better on a team that has a deeper commitment to running the ball and putting Tua in situations where he gets the ball out of his hand faster. Could that be a team like The Washington Football Team?

We’ll see.

Well, new news that came out this weekend says that the Texans have set the asking price for their former starter at 3 first round picks and 3 third round picks. That’s SIX players!

That’s crazy considering everyone knows you have to trade the guy. If anything the Texans should ask for two picks and a good young player and call it a day.
