The Denver Broncos finally have their franchise quarterback in tow. The blue and orange made a huge trade today to acquire the services of one Mr. Russell Wilson, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks.

In the deal Denver is sending three players and five draft picks to Seattle in exchange for Wilson and a fourth round pick.

Here is how it plays out:

DEN trades:
Shelby Harris
Drew Lock
Noah Fant
First round pick
First round pick
Second round pick
Second round pick
Fifth round pick

SEA trades:
Russell Wilson
Fourth round pick

That is a lot to trade but Denver was out of moves. Teddy Bridgewater cannot last 17 games, Drew Lock is too inconsistent, and it is looking like Malik Willis & Kenny Pickett will both be top 3 selections in the 2022 NFL draft.

A silver lining is that Seattle will take on a cap hit of $27 million in the deal.

I am excited for the season. In my best Russ voice, GO BRONCOS.

It is time for the Fangio era to finally end. The defensive coordinator who should have never been made a head coach is finally (hopefully) on his way out after Denver’s 7-10 campaign for 2021. In what will likely be his final press conference as coach, Fangio decided to throw not one but both of his quarterbacks under the bus on his way out.

Here is Fangio saying the Broncos don’t have a “top shelf” quarterback:

Well Vic, if you felt like this why didn’t you tell management you needed a QB?!!! Why did you let them draft a cornerback over BOTH Mac Jones and Justin Fields?

The Broncos are in win now mode and do not have time to see if Trey Lance can stay out of Liv Cowherd’s DMs long enough to be a good QB (it’s a joke relax.)

Seriously, Vic Fangio is going to draft Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah with the 9th overall pick. I never thought Trey Lance or Justin Fields was a realistic option. Fangio is a defensive guy and can win with a QB that just doesn’t make mistakes and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah fits the scheme like a glove.

I’m probably 100% wrong but that will not stop me from celebrating like I have the Powerball numbers if the Broncos really do draft Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on Thursday.

We’ll see!

I like to highlight how my favorite team, the Denver Broncos, wins at drafts so it is only right that I highlight when the team makes moves that work out less than expected. Yes, the NFL Draft is an inexact science and when dealing with later picks anything can happen but we can still get a gauge of the team’s ability to scout talent by checking back on an entire draft class.

And the 2017 draft class is just purely brutal when you look back at it.

Here are the moves the Broncos made along with the very next players at the position taken. It is not pretty.

All of this happened in the 2017 draft:

OT Ryan Ramczyk was the very next tackle taken after Denver took Garett Bolles. Even at the time drafting Bolles high was considered a huge risk and the Broncos still took him with a first round pick.

Bucs WR Chris Godwin was the very next receiver drafted after Carlos Henderson.

Then the big one: NFL 100 #7 overall player George Kittle was the next tight end taken after Jake Butt. But no, it gets worse. He was the very next pick after Butt!

Imagine that offense with a half competent quarterback. And that is why drafting matters so much. That is how teams that draft well like the Patriots built a 20 year dynasty off 4th and 5th rounders while other teams have to spend crazy in free agency or do risky trades to stay above water.

Hopefully the 2021 NFL Draft is not one Elway throws away because all of the foundation is built for a potential dynastic team going forward.

The 2020 NFL draft was very uneventful. So uneventful there was actually no real reason to do a full recap. The Dolphins got Tua, the Bengals got Burrow, the Packers didn’t draft a WR, and the Eagles reached on a bunch of guys that they could have had a round later.

But one team, one GM/President that did well as usual is John Elway. Full disclosure this is extremely bias but it’s pretty obvious Denver is one of the teams that won this 2020 NFL Draft.

First of all Denver stood pat and didn’t spend any capital to get the highest rated WR in the class. Yes the fanbase had their hearts set on Ruggs and his incredible speed but that was because no one expected Jerry Jeudy to fall to 15. Elway raised the roof and selected the highest guy on the board with no hesitation.

Drew Lock and John Elway in the hallway when they see each other for the first time after this draft:#Broncos #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/Y5KMpfOVGA

Then a round later Denver double dips in the WR class with KJ Hamler. Elway again doesn’t reach, stays calm and simply picks again from the deepest draft pool of receivers ever:

The Human Joystick @Kj_hamler pic.twitter.com/mlxBHt5K39

— Barstool Penn State (@PSUBarstool) October 14, 2019

But it keeps going. Denver then comes back with the 83rd pick and grabs Lloyd Cushenberry. Who’s that? Oh just the athletic 315 pound center who kept Joe Burrow off the turf all last year.

That’s potentially three starters. But with the 77th pick they grab Michael Ojemudia, a quick corner who will contribute from day 1. McTelvin Agim comes on board with the 95th pick and will have a great chance to start as well.

That’s potentially four starters in the first 100 picks. You’re not supposed to draft this well. To top it off Denver grabs Albert Okwuegbunam TE from Mizzou to pair back with Drew Lock. The TE group is crowded but he has a chance to make the main roster and contribute as well.

If Lock is competent this is going to be a scary team along with the additions of vets AJ Bouye, Jurrell Casey, and Melvin Gordon III.

It’s time to put on.

.@DrewLock23 rapped to "Put On" and @Jeezy couldn't get enough pic.twitter.com/0h3MZDXZEs

Kaepernick made the news last week after having a open workout streamed on Youtube for all 32 teams to attend and view at their convenience. He looked in good shape and still had the strong arm that made him famous back in the days when the 49ers were on the cusp of a Super Bowl victory. We all know the Broncos have attempted to trade for Colin in the past, will they sign him now?

What should John Elway do? The Broncos are in a unique situation where they are unable to find a true franchise QB and in a NFL where it’s harder and harder to rely on dominate defense. It is time for the Broncos to enter the new era of football and compete.

Kansas City looks dominant but with a few changes Denver can be right there.

So what should they do? YA BOY has got you covered. Someone print this out and mail it to John. Championship guaranteed… or maybe not.

Check out my Denver Broncos 2019 Mock Draft below:

NOTE: In this projection, Broncos release Chad Kelly and sign one or both of Teddy Bridgewater & Tyrod Taylor. Yes, I know QB is still an issue but you’re paying Case Keenum like a starter and realistically there isn’t a Andrew Luck in this class.

Round 1. Noah Fant, TE Iowa

With the above said, Denver turns their eye to a sore spot no one really wants to talk about. There is no TE on this team that can get vertical or create true matchup problems.

Round 2. Deebo Samuel, WR/RB South Carolina

Deebo is still on my board as a first round pick so I qualify this as a steal! I know he suffered an injury last year and isn’t as explosive as last year but another year away from the injury and he will be right back. This NFL more than ever requires anytime players on offense and Deebo is the best one in this class. Plus, you know… they’re trading DT.

Round 3. Chris Lindstrom, OG Boston College

You can never go wrong getting younger at the interior line. He may not come in as a starter but you cannot miss a chance to add depth.

Round 4. Derrick Baity, CB Kentucky

Several CBs on the Broncos are free agents and will likely be gone. Baity is a 6’3 ball hawk that will probably not be here but if he is, get him.

Round 5. Mark Fields, CB Clemson

See what I’m trying to do? Another big physical corner to go with Baity.

Round 5. Jalen Hurts, QB Alabama

Hear me out. Jalen won over 25 games, two chips and is the only player to throw for 300 and rush for 100 in a game at Alabama. I know he just got injured with an ankle sprain, I know Tua is better. He isn’t asked to do anything here but come to camp healthy and soak up knowledge from Case Keenum and Bill Musgrave. The physical talent is there. If he works out it could be an all time steal.

For those that are skeptical, let me ask you this: how much of a difference is there in Jalen Hurts’ and Dak Prescott’s potential at this same point?

FLIP THE PAGE FOR THE FINAL THREE PICKS!

That is Mozgov money for an outside linebacker. Simply unheard of in modern NFL times. Von absolutely deserved it after single-handedly bringing Denver it’s third Super Bowl in franchise history.

Former Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno had a pretty bad break towards the end of his young career. Then on the Miami Dolphins, Knowshown tore his ACL for the second time and hasn’t played a lick of football since.

That is unless he completes a comeback effort this summer. That’s right, Moreno is looking to comeback to the NFL and is eyeing an opportunity to prove he’s healthy and ready to contribute.

Possible destinations include Denver and Miami:

“I plan on coming back,” Moreno told TMZ earlier this week. “I feel good. I feel healthy. I’m fully recovered. So I’m just doing the things I have to right now, just staying in shape and seeing where that goes.”

Moreno was a star on Denver’s record-breaking 2013 squad, totaling 1,586 yards and 13 touchdowns as a dual-threat out of the backfield. Never an explosive speedster, though, he couldn’t afford to leave any of his talent on the operating table.

It’s no surprise that Moreno is eyeing his two former teams as potential landing spots. Even if the Broncos and Dolphins lack an established star at the position, it’s unlikely they will turn to Moreno barring a training-camp injury this summer.

Should the Broncos sign Knowshon Moreno? There really is no harm in this. At the very least it will create competition for rookie Devontae Booker.

Put some respek on Sam Bradford’s name. At least that’s what Tom Condon, his agent, wants you to do.

Condon recently hit the media trail to explain why his client was ready to make a business decision and force his way out of Philadelphia during the 2016 NFL Draft. Obviously plans have changed and Bradford is pretty much stuck where he is but it is interesting to hear what happened the moments after the Eagles officially drafted Carson Wentz.

Bradford attempted to get himself traded to Denver but the Eagles weren’t able to make it happen:

“When [the Broncos] couldn’t make a deal and then drafted the quarterback in the first round, at that point they are no longer interested in Sam,” Condon said. “And so our next best move is for Sam to go back to Philadelphia and learn the system, play like he’s capable, and I think play really well this year and potentially next year, and then be available for either trade or free agency.”

Sam ain’t going to say it no’ mo. Put some respek on his name. All tree of ya’ll.
