As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, speculation continues to grow around the future of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. If the Cleveland Browns were to select him, the reality is that there would be little his father, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, could do to alter the outcome.

No Option to Return to College

Unlike previous years when players could decide to return to school if they didn’t like their draft position, that window has officially closed for Shedeur. His eligibility is up, meaning there is no option to head back to Colorado or transfer elsewhere.

The UFL Is Not a Viable Alternative

While alternative professional leagues like the UFL exist, they simply don’t have the financial power to lure Shedeur away from the NFL. Given his marketability, talent, and projected contract value, playing in a secondary league isn’t a realistic possibility.

Trade Market Would Be Steep

If Shedeur were to refuse to play for the Browns, any potential trade scenario would require a significant return. Cleveland would likely demand at least a first-round pick or more in exchange for his rights, making it a costly move for any team hoping to acquire him.

Could He Just Sit-Out?

The final option—sitting out—rarely works in a player’s favor. Holding out would mean delaying his development, missing valuable playing time, and potentially hurting his draft stock in the long run. While players have tried this route before, it’s a risky gamble with no guaranteed success.

If the Browns draft Shedeur Sanders, the path forward is relatively straightforward: either he plays for Cleveland or another team meets the Browns’ demands in a trade. With no realistic alternatives outside of the NFL, the decision will ultimately come down to how Sanders and his camp choose to handle the situation.

The Browns finally traded Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers after months of trade rumors. The Panthers will give up a 5th that could upgrade to a 4th. Mayfield will take a slight pay cut but can earn it back via incentive.

Cleveland ruined the relationship with Mayfield after openly inquiring on availability of Deshaun Watson. There was no choice but to move on from Mayfield who at this point in his career is a decent starter but not a franchise QB.

Here is the news:

The Browns have found a new team for Baker Mayfield. Cleveland is trading the quarterback to the Panthers for a conditional fifth-round pick

Unfortunately, beloved Cleveland Brown receiver, Josh ‘Flash’ Gordon, has reappeared in the news with his name AGAIN related to marijuana. On Memorial Day, Gordon was pulled over for going 74mph in 60mph zone. However, the speeding was insignificant compared to the marijuana found in Gordon’s Mercedes. The passenger inside Gordon’s vehicle whole-heartedly claimed possession of the marijuana, but nonetheless this incident just diminishes Gordon’s chances of having his 2014-2015 season long suspension withdrawn.

The Cleveland Browns have high hopes for rebuilding the franchise. Whether it is Johnny Manziel or Brian Hoyer quarterbacking the Browns’ offense, both potential quarterbacks would love to have Josh Gordon as their target. It is sort of ridiculous that Gordon led NFL in receiving last year, even though he served a two game suspension. Last season he totaled 1,646 yards, which beat the second most leading receiver, Antonio Brown, by 147 yards. In fact, the second leading wide receiver on the Browns, Greg Little, totaled 465 yards last season, which is a diminutive 28% of Gordon’s total yards.

Not only does Josh Gordon’s potential absence directly impact the Browns, his absence indirectly impacts fantasy football owners – especially in keeper leagues. Despite sitting out weeks one and two of last season, Gordon averaged 13.8 points a week for fantasy owners. After the Browns’ week ten bye-week, Gordon went on a hot streak and averaged 20 points to close out his monstrous season. I was fortunate enough to have Josh Gordon on my team last season, and I was tremendously grateful for Gordon carrying my team some weeks.

It would be a shame to see Josh Gordon’s career be halted because of poor personal decisions. It would not be the type of ‘flash’ that Josh Gordon would want to be remembered for.

Johnny Manziel is a confident young man, you can’t take that away from him. The youngest man to ever win the Heisman Trophy has declared for the 2014 Draft and is making no doubt about it- he wants to be successful right off the bat.

Manziel says that his goal is to step right into the league and win the Super Bowl in his rookie year. You know what they say about goals, they all begin in the mind.

Johnny went on to say that even if he was drafted by the historically underachieving Cleveland Browns he will maintain the goal of winning the 2015 Super Bowl Championship.

“People can call me crazy, and it’s not cockiness [but], I’m going to put myself in [position] to win the Super Bowl every single year,” Manziel said. “A 5-foot-10 guy [Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson] just won the Super Bowl in his second year in the NFL. That’s unreal. I want to be the first rookie to win the Super Bowl.”

“If something happens, and it’s the Cleveland Browns, I’m going to pour my heart out for the Dawg Pound and try to win a Super Bowl for Cleveland,” Manziel said. “I don’t care if they’ve had 20 starting quarterbacks since 1999. I’m going to be the 21st and the guy that brought them the Super Bowl.”

What do you think? Can he do it?

I personally wouldn’t bet against him!
