Cam was out of the league for a few months but with Sam Darnold hurt and playing poorly, the Panthers are desperate to save this season with the 7th seed still in play for the playoffs.

Here are the details on Cam returning to Carolina:

As we all know Christian McCaffrey just signed a new deal that will net him up to $76 million if he hits all the qualifiers in his new 4 year deal. The first $32 million is fully guaranteed and is by far the most money a RB has gotten ever in the NFL.

So what are my thoughts on it?

Well first, let’s not frame this as a race thing. McCaffrey is one of the best players in the NFL regardless of being the lone starting white running back and does it from a position that you wouldn’t expect a 205 lb. player to be so dominant.

Secondly, what does this mean for the position? LeVeon Bell once freestyled in his driveway that he wanted $17 M’s when he was holding out. Derrick Henry was franchised and signed his tender without a hold out. We still have to see what Alvin Kamara gets.

And then there is Todd Gurley who signed a big deal just two years ago and is already on another team. This is my nightmare scenario for the Panthers. If the Panthers don’t change their offense there is no way McCaffrey can carry the ball 400 times a year for the next 4 years and make it worth the investment.

In a perfect world the Panthers will stock up the receiver core, get a extra lineman or two and find a way to replace Greg Olsen with another Pro Bowl type tight end.

If this contract is going to work Jerry Richardson can’t get cheap now. Yes McCaffrey is absolutely performing to get paid on that level but it won’t last long if you don’t get him any help.

Hopefully in the future more running backs will start to receive contracts in the range of 2 years/ $30M guaranteed. That will not only financially secure the player but also not commit the team long term financially to the skill player who gets hit the most. This is really the only thing that makes sense.

We’ll see how it all plays out but good luck to CMC and the Panthers in 2020.

Was there a conspiracy for the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton to lose Super Bowl 50?

If you ask me, of course not. The Broncos went out and executed the best “3 and D” game plan of all time, hid Peyton Manning, and let Von Miller do what he does best.

However some people in the #woke community think otherwise. Blogger/media personality Doggie Diamonds posted a very interesting video that highlights the parallels between the Carolina Panthers and the Black Panther Party.

Of course, take it with a grain of salt but there are some good points made including:

The Carolina team is the Panthers

The leader of the Carolina Panthers is Cam Newton

The leader of the Black Panthers is Huey P. Newton

…and more.

Click below to check out the similarities:
Probably a Livestream, but they aren’t retiring this year. Kris Jenkins, is.

He announced via Facebook:

“It is time for the torch to be passed to the younger players. I am going to hang up the cleats! The mind is always willing to play but my body deserves the rest. Thank you for the opportunites to play Carolina and New York,”

Jenkins was always one of the NFL’s most intense and most dominant interior lineman, but once he started having ACL problems he was on the sideline more than the field. You have to wonder what kind of push he could have gave the Jets last year if he would have made it all the way.

Jenkins retires a four time Pro Bowler.

This is a new series I am doing, called 32 in 32. We will break down every pick in the first round of the NFL Draft and give you the top 3 picks for every team! This should be fun. If you disagree, feel free to yell at me in the comments or on Twitter.

So who will the Panthers draft? This season the Panthers had one of their worst seasons in team history, and ended up securing the #1 overall pick in the draft. Long standing coach John Fox was booted and Ron Rivera inherited a team that is extremely young on offense with a 2nd year QB, two 2nd year receivers, and with his #1 offensive threat RB DeAngelo Williams a free agent.

So with all that said, Carolina is looking at the following options #1 overall.

1. Nick Fairley DT Auburn

Nick Fairley has absolutely dominated this year in the SEC, enroute to a National Championship. He looked like a man amongst boys, many times bullying other players with questionably legal hits, and changing the game with his ability to penetrate the pocket quickly. The Panthers need a force to go on the line with Charles Johnson, and a player to replace Julius Peppers’ dominance.

2. AJ Green WR Georgia

Jimmy Clausen absolutely struggled last year. This year will be the year he makes it or breaks it as a QB. The problem is that he played last year without more than half his starting offensive line, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Steve Smith played the entire season with a cast on his injured arm.

That lead to the Panthers primarily deploying Mike Goodson as their lead back with rookie WRs David Gettis and Brandon Lafell as the starters outside. The Panthers would like to add a young superstart at WR and trade Steve Smith to a contender so he’ll have a chance to win a ring. AJ Green would solve all those issues in one. But #1 overall, a WR may be too high a perceived risk for a new coach to start with.

3. Daquan Bowers DE Clemson

Once again, the Panthers are missing Julius Peppers in a big way. Ed Hardy and Everette Brown have not been able to replace the All Pro’s talents so far. Selecting Bowers puts a force across from Charles Johnson, and seemingly replaces Peppers. The only issue here is if the Panthers are convinced Bowers’ is worth the #1 selection. Many have perceived him as a “one year wonder.”
