That’s right, Michael Jordan’s former prized #1 overall draft pick Kwame Brown is back like he left something.

Here are the details on Kwame’s comeback:

Kwame Brown never really deserved the literal and metaphorical beatings he took during his disappointing NBA journeyman’s career. He didn’t ask to be the No. 1 pick in the 2001 Draft, and he certainly didn’t ask for the burden of expectation that came along with having to make front-office neophyte Michael Jordan look like a competent NBA executive.

His career was more or less doomed from the beginning, both by small hands (he might be the second-most maligned person after Donald Trump for that accident of genetics) and by the relentless psychological abuse he endured from the then Wizards president (and again later in Charlotte). Brown finally faded out of the league a few years ago, but according to a new report, it appears he’s trying to revamp his basketball career. According to theInterperformances website, Brown has signed on with their sports agency in hopes of landing another NBA gig.

Kwame wasn’t that terrible when he made his rounds through the league as a role player. He is a serviceable big, and after all Mozgov just got $60 million in guaranteed money.

The 49ers have traded for the Jaguars former first round pick, Blaine Gabbert. It seems the Jags have decided to give up on the 10th pick in the 2011 draft.

The Jaguars will receive a 6th round pick for the quarterback’s services.

The No. 10 overall pick in the 2011 draft never became the franchise quarterback former general manager Gene Smith envisioned when he traded two picks to get him and on Tuesday the Jaguars traded him to San Francisco for a sixth-round pick in this year’s draft and a possible conditional pick in 2015.

In his four years in Jacksonville, Gabbert threw for 4,357 yards 22 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

I am removing the bust label from Aaron Maybin. Yes, Maybin tied me for sacks the first two years of his career, but it seems like all it took was a change of scenery to turn that light bulb on. I remember watching the Jets game versus Buffalo this year thinking “Aaron Maybin can’t be blocked. Wait, did I just think that?!”

Maybin has rejuvenated his career with the New york Rex’s (6 sacks in 2011) and has been rewarded with a new deal. Hopefully he keeps playing up to his potential with the new deal.

The Bengals announced the signing of Derrick Harvey on Friday and they closed out the day by adding another former eighth overall pick in the draft.

Like Harvey, Jamaal Anderson is a defensive end and, like Harvey again, he hasn’t lived up to his lofty draft status.

Drafted 10 overall from USC in 2006 after shunning the 2005 draft where he was expected to be the #1 overall pick, Leinart’s career has been a story of a player who just could not stay on the field. Whether it was getting beat out by a veteran, getting injured, or losing his spot to a rookie things just haven’t gone Matt’s way. Hopefully he has something lined up off the field because his career could easily be over now.

Bears released former Jets LB Vernon Gholston.

Basically Gholston was over drafted for a guy that played the disappearing acts he played in the Big Ten.  Why did the Jets think they were going to draft him and suddenly he was going to turn into a different guy?  I don’t know.  Even if a guy looks like he can play his butt off, if you haven’t seen it on tape there is no reason to lie to yourself or the player in question.  So far in his career Gholston is tied with the great sack artist, me, for career sacks (zero). Kudos to Lovie Smith for taking a look at Gholston and giving him a chance to compete.  That’s all you can ask for if you’re Vernon right now. A chance to compete somewhere.

This is why you have to do your homework in the draft. As you can see, the collective busts have cashed checks close to some small countries GDP. Your average draft pick here signed a contract that was valued at over 25 times your average college graduae’s lifetime salary. That’s’ insane. At least there is a salary cap, to protect some teams from their own mismanagement.

And boy, have the busts piled up. Limas Sweed is another name on the list.

Sweed was once an awesome receiver down at the University of Texas. Many felt he was even better than Roy Williams (overpaid, but not a bust IMO.) In 2008 the Steelers took Sweed in the second round with the 53rd overall pick.

Know what kind of production the Steelers got for that pick?

That’s it. 7 catches. Achilles injuries have been the reason behind Sweed’s lack of time on the field.

To put things in perspective, Ray Rice and Jamaal Charles we BOTH selected after Sweed. That hurts me to type, and I’m not even a Steelers fan. Here’s hoping Sweed catches on somewhere. We may possibly see him in the UFL or CFL or in the Arena League if he cannot convince another NFL team to give him a shot.

But it is true. The #11 overall draft bust out of Penn State, who JUST got released by the Bills yesterday already has a suitor in tow after clearing waivers. Rumor is that a few other teams like him as well. I don’t know how these guys can be so bad at their jobs but paid so well sometimes.

Aaron Maybin is a guy who obviously has the weight room dedication you want in an athlete. He isn’t going to eat himself out the league. But you have to wonder why it never clicked. Why couldn’t he crack one of the worst defensive lineups in the league?

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have offered Maybin, who cleared waivers earlier today, a one-year deal. Per Mehta, five or six other teams have made a similar offer.
