Could Brett Farve come out of retirement and play in today’s NFL? If the St. Louis Rams have their way, we’ll learn if the 44 year old can still put in that work. Just a few years ago he led the now disastrous Minnesota Vikings on a deep playoff run, and has kept a low profile since retirement in 2010.

After the Rams learned they have lost Sam Bradford for the remainder of the season they scrambled for a way to save their season. Could the man to do it be…. Brett Favre?

After the team lost Bradford to a season-ending knee injury, St. Louis called Brett Favre on Sunday night, asking whether the 44-year-old retired quarterback, who is now a grandfather, would be willing to leave his farm to plow through the back half of the Rams’ schedule, league sources said.

Favre hasn’t played since December 2010, but that didn’t stop the Rams from reaching out to Favre’s agent, Bus Cook.

Chances are that Farve won’t accept the first offer he gets but I don’t put it past him to get in shape in the next few weeks and attempt a comeback. The Rams have signed Brady Quinn in the meantime in between times.

But he did play 20 seasons in the NFL so his opinion holds some weight. No matter how you feel about the “old man’s” gunslinger style of playing you can’t deny he was one of the top 10 quarterbacks of all time. So with that said, the fact that he prefers Robert Griffin III to Andrew Luck is interesting.

Here is what Favre had to say:

Favre spoke to NFL Network’s Deion Sanders on Friday and said he’s a Griffin fan.

“Griffin, he’s smaller, but if I was starting a team, I’d probably of went with RG3 just because, if they can’t protect you, you got to protect yourself,” Favre said.

We now, twitter has exploded again because Favre may have a suitor in the Philadelphia Eagles. This makes sense because the Eagles are looking at trading backup Kevin Kolb reported for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and their only other QB is Kafka who doesn’t have much experience. When I say much I mean any experience. No one has as much experience as Favre, it would be his 21st NFL season.

Michael Vick has a lot of respect for Favre so it makes sense there. Not only is Favre a legend at the position, but he is also one of the few athletes who almost lost his career to go on to become a fan favorite and a legend. Vick could learn a lot from him off the field.

Vick tweeted this:

And then there is the money. Favre is going to get paid handsomely to hold a clipboard and drink gatorade for a few hours every Sunday. As I said in my previous article:

Don’t think for a second that Favre isn’t aware he can hold a clipboard and get around $2.5 million for it.Will he be back? Probably not. But if #4 suits up one more time don’t be surprised.

Favre is possibly considering another comeback for a 21st NFL season, according to NFL.com analyst, Gil Brandt.

The Vikings have already drafted Christian Ponder who is the heir apparent in Minnesota and are prepared to move forward with him as the starter. The whole “get a ring” thing has been thrown out, the rebuild seems to be on for the Vikes.

Does Favre have any value anywhere in the league? Of course he does. Carolina needs a veteran to sit behind Cam Netwon. Tennessee needs a veteran to help out with Jake Locker’s development. The Dolphins and Cardinals are in the market for a veteran as well. Don’t think for a second that Favre isn’t aware he can hold a clipboard and get around $2.5 million for it.

After a little over 20 days, Randy Moss has been traded and now waived by an NFL team.

The Minnesota Vikings, the team that drafted Moss and reacquired him in October, are a team in total disarray. Brett Favre still has sexual harassment allegations circling him, and now there is questions about his ankle and chin injuries. Percy Harvin is playing well but just got injured. And Sidney Rice has yet to play a down in 2010. The Vikings could not be in worst shape right now unless….

…nah I dare not type it.

Anyways, acquiring “The Boss” Randy Moss for a 3rd rounder was supposed to be a shot of adrenaline for an offense going nowhere fast. But just a few weeks in Brad Childress has had enough and cut Moss. Depending on what you believe, either Moss quit on the team or offended the entire locker room over an incident involving a catered team meal.

The problem with cutting Moss so quickly is that the Vikings can ill afford to be throwing away draft picks when they have to replace Brett Favre. It is no secret that the Vikings don’t have much confidence in the backup Tavaris Jackson and will likely look to add a QB to the roster then trade either Jackson or third stringer Joe Webb. If the Vikings end up selecting behind other teams that need a passer they may regret not having the third rounder they traded for Moss. You need firepower to trade up in the draft.

Speaking of firepower, the Patriots own two picks in the first three rounds of the NFL draft.

Salute to you Bill Belichick, and I love you guys.
