I promise that I am writing from a place of reason and logic. Ever since the anthem protest grew, it was clear that it was only a matter of time before the right found a way to flip it on the “leftists” (aka n*****) and hijack the narrative.

That is exactly what happened.

The #BoycottNFL hashtag created by Shaun King and later promoted by Boyce Watkins has been tweeted out by President 45 himself. We all know that 45 only tweets dog whistles to rile up the conservative right, and that is exactly what happened. The narrative has flipped from the kneeling being about anti-black racism and police brutality and made about veterans and the flag.

People are burning jerseys over the protests and threatening to boycott, forgetting that Black Americans were already boycotting due to Kap being freezed out. Now, out of nowhere owners want to kneel but none of them want to sign Kap. Why is this?

If they are kneeling in support of Kap’s message, why can’t he be signed? Doesn’t a third of the league need a backup QB right now?

Why did Ben Roethlisberger apologize for standing with his team in the tunnel? Mind you they were already standing at attention of the flag and only stayed in the tunnel because Coach Tomlin not want any protests.

Why is Alejandro Villenueva being paraded around as a hero by the conservative right? Even after saying he SUPPORTS the protests?

I know. It all makes sense to me to.

The Las Vegas PD has responded to Michael Bennett’s letter and as usual they aren’t looking like they are interested in taking responsibility for the situation. Yes, a situation of “mistaken identity” that could have cost Bennett’s life and no one is even willing to apologize to the man.

Instead the PD wrote a letter about Bennett’s anthem protest, the NFL, and why the NFL should look into punishing Bennett for simply expressing what we all saw on TMZ video.

We live in some strange times. Hopefully one day society can exist in a space where citizens don’t have to be equally suspicious of potential rogue officers as they are of random black men.

Seahawks DE Michael Bennett was almost the latest victim of unnecessary police violence at the hands of two overzealous cops. Bennett just happened to be somewhere where shots let off and being a black man over 6 foot he was automatically treated as the main subject.

Will the NFL hire Colin Kaepernick? I’m going to go with no for 2017, but there is definitely one New York City team that surely could use his services.

The Jets have no QB, Hackenberg is getting benched at practice for breaking huddles incorrectly, and the alternative is… Josh McCown. The great Josh McCown that for some odd reason has played for 10 DIFFERENT TEAMS and those teams have a losing record with him just being on the roster. I’m going to hold the obvious point there for another day.

Here are New York’s finest risking their careers and reputation against racists to support Kaepernick, again, a man who did nothing but engage in a silent non-violent protest.

It’s obvious at this point that if you hurt middle America’s feelings you are a villain no matter what. I would be more mad at Josh McCown still stealing NFL money over Kaepernick kneeling but I don’t get to decide who gets attacked in this media….

The blackballing of QB Colin Kaepernick continues to be one of the biggest stories in sports no one is talking about. Kaep worked out for one team so far, the Seattle Seahawks, but they ultimately decided to pass and sign QB Austin Davis instead.

Yes, a player who went undrafted the same season Colin started in the Super Bowl got signed to a team over him. And we aren’t supposed to believe this isn’t collusion?

Well, some people have had enough. Prominent journalist Shaun King has announced that he will be boycotting the NFL and now prominent finance professor Boyce Watkins has decided to do the same.

Here are Boyce’s words on the situation:

So where do we stand now? It seems that as the sentiment of blackballing grows this protest will as well. We will continue to watch this situation closely.

Yesterday on twitter a horrific story trended over the assault of a mentally disabled man in Chicago. There was a Facebook video that depicted a horrible scene of teens jumping the other man and calling him names. After the story hit twitter all of sudden the criminals, who happen to be black, were instantly labeled as #BlackLivesMatter advocates.

Wait, what? Yes. Simply because the criminals were black all of the racists on twitter decided it was the right time to stir the propaganda machine and label them as #BLMKidnappers as if all black people are in on some secret plan to assault whites across the country.

But what if I told you there was the EXACT SAME incident already in the media with the races reversed and NO ONE called them #AllLivesMatterKiddnappers?

In 2016 A group of white men did the same thing to a disabled black boy and didn’t even serve time in prison:

A tiny Idaho town is in turmoil following shocking allegations of racism and a brutal rape ripping apart what many consider the heart of the community: its high school football team.

Three white football players in Dietrich hurled racist epithets for months at their black, mentally disabled teammate, a civil lawsuit filed earlier this month claims. The harassment then turned physical, escalating to the point where the three kicked a coat hanger up the teen’s rectum after pretending to offer him a hug last October, it says.

SOURCE: Idaho High School Football Players Accused of Raping Disabled Teammate: Lawsuit

John Howard pleaded guilty to a felony in this incident:

John R.K. Howard, 19, of Keller, Texas, pleaded guilty to a felony count of injury to a child and will be sentenced to two to three years of probation and up to 300 hours of community serve, according to the Idaho Statesman.

Of course, not a peep from the #MAGA anti-black anything crowd. See what this backlash about the Chicago incident really about?

All over sports media the story of Colin Kaepernick choosing not to vote in the 2017 general election has led headlines. Kaepernick has been going in this season, using his platform as a vehicle to speak about oppression in America.

Of course, the fact that Kaep chose not to vote was low hanging fruit for those that do not like him. However that should not have been a surprise as there are no public records indicating that he’s ever voted in a general election. I’ve noticed more and more that the more intelligent someone is, the less they interact with the political system. But that is another post for another day.

For the record your boy did vote but not for President of the USA…

Anyways, here are Kaep’s words on his non-voting stance:

“To me, the oppressor isn’t going to allow you to vote your way out of your oppression,” the NFL star commented.
San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick defended his decision not to vote in Tuesday’s U.S. elections saying that it would have been “hypocritical” for him to vote as that would have been a show of support for a “system of oppression” that he is against.

“You know, I think it would be hypocritical of me to vote,” Kaepernick told reporters Sunday night after his team’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

“I said from the beginning I was against oppression, I was against the system of oppression. I’m not going to show support for that system. And to me, the oppressor isn’t going to allow you to vote your way out of your oppression.”

The NFL star made headlines a few months ago when he kicked off a peaceful protest to highlight police brutality against Black people and other people of color by refusing to stand during the playing of the U.S. national anthem.

He has vowed to continue his protest until the end of racial injustice in the United States even after being attacked by some pro-police and pro-military people in the country who called his protest unpatriotic and an insult to the country’s army, which he denies.

The NFL star has also garnered tremendous support from current and former professional athletes as well as many anti-racist organizations around the country.

Kaepernick said he has received death threats over his protest and was even attacked by President-elect Donald Trump. “Maybe he should find a country that works better for him, let him try, it won’t happen,” Trump told a conservative Seattle radio talk show in September.

Yes people, that is the guy half the country voted as their President telling a (half) African citizen to get out if he doesn’t like it…

And that’s all I’m going to say on that.

People want to say that the NFL’s ratings are down because of the protests but that’s giving a lot of power to a knee. Quite frankly it is more about so many teams being awful right now (thirteen 1-3 teams after 4 weeks.)

Once again, this has nothing to do with the military.

Band members at East Carolina University have decided that they are going to join in Colin Kaepernick’s protest, because why not value human rights for everyone?

As an alum of that University I can tell you first hand that Greenville, NC is definitely not the racial utopia of the United States. If anything I’d say that it is closer to the exact opposite- especially if people don’t think you are a college student.

Protesting for human rights is definitely something that needs to be happening in Greenville. Again, this is coming from someone who lived there for five years.

However, because ECU students protested for human rights ESPN Radio will not play the game:

This is something else – ESPN Fayetteville radio won't carry ECU-USF because of the band protest pic.twitter.com/2UwHgkfZBZ

Someone told me today that people have the First Amendment rights to be #AllLivesMatter, intellectually dishonest, and flat out racist. And you know what? That person was right.

This is nothing more than the 2016 version of “your name is Toby” but there is nothing people can do if they don’t hold the power. In this position Colonial Media CEO Jeff Andrulonis has the power to block the ECU Game from ESPN Radio because he feels offended. You can guess why he might really be offended.

Just another reminder one can be fired, dropped, or fined for expressing support for the basic human rights of people in this country.

That is very sad.

And that is why this will never end.

Several ECU band members have followed Colin Kaepernick’s protest and of course all of sudden people want to get their panties in a bunch about it. We live in a country based off free speech… right?

So why is it an automatic outrage when someone exercises it in this manner?

Once again, these protests are not about the military or the flag. It is about unarmed black men and women being murdered by law enforcement and no one in this country doing anything about it on a legislative level. You’re offended they’re kneeling and guess what? They’re offended people are dying for broken tail lights, selling mixtapes, having car issues, or just being black.

Here are the band members kneeling:

As an alum and former resident of Greenville I will say that my five years in Greenville I experienced the worst racism I have ever received in my life. I totally applaud these students for standing up for their rights as AMERICANS because from first hand knowledge I know how they are treated in Greenville the minute they aren’t identified as ECU students.

I personally have had a crime I will not disclose happen to me directly in front of a police officer and never received justice. I know exactly why those students were compelled to knee. I know the exact mixture of emotions of helplessness, desperation, bravery and bravado that it takes just being in your skin at times at that University.

Those “offended” alums do not half of the problems some of us went through (and some still go through) living in a high crime town like Greenville as young black students. You want to fit in like everyone else but simply you are never treated as such. There is always an extra eye, an extra policy, or a flat out rejection of your presence.

If America was the place we all pretend it is to be there would be no need for symbolic gestures. There would be no need for an entire demographic of the population to feel terrorized by its own law enforcement. There would be no National Anthem written by an admitted racist and slave owner.

Until we fix these problems America, you better get used to seeing people take that knee.
