Will Kyrie take the jab? Will James Harden get in shape? Will Harden like the Philly night clubs?!!

All of that is fun to see how it plays out but there is a deeper issue at hand. BOTH PLAYERS numbers are retired by their new franchise.

James Harden’s #13 is retired on the 76ers.

Ben Simmons’ #25 is retired on the Nets.

It is time. The NBA needs to be the first league to implement this. Ban retiring numbers. This is out of hand. Create a patch that honors the legendary players but put the damn number back in circulation. As a fan I’m tired of seeing players in numbers I know they’d rather not wear. It’s just a bad business practice to take product off the shelf.

Don’t get me started on how bad the NFL is with their new single digit number rules. Just un-retire the numbers and enforce the uniform code. I don’t know about you but I’m already tired of seeing defensive players running around in #3 and #1.

That’s just my thoughts on this. Basketball wise the Nets fleeced the Sixers because they got two first round picks on top of Seth Curry and Andre Drummond being added to the pot. Ultimately Brooklyn knew that Daryl Morey loved James Harden too much and the party that can’t walk away will lose the trade every time. But that’s just the trade on paper. We still have to see how it all plays out.

Until then, let the guys wear their darn jersey numbers. Please!

Apparently, the Pacers hit the NBA 2k trade sim in real life and actually offered the trade to the Philadelphia organization who decided to decline the offer for the former #1 overall pick.

Here is the alleged rejected Simmons for Brogdon trade:

I’m not sure what Daryl Morey’s longterm plan with Embiid and Simmons is, but Malcolm Brogdon is a proven shooter in the league and brings the exact guard skills that Simmons lacks. Now Simmons is the better overall player but until the Sixers get a real point in there and let Simmons play a point-forward role they will forever have this problem and the trade offers will continue to fly.

Should the Sixers trade Simmons? It’s a delicate position because they cannot get a better player but may receive a player who’s a better fit with their current core. Do you dump Simmons and make a run in Embiid’s prime? Keep him and wait to see if the shooting improves?

We’ll see what the Sixers decide to do.

In today’s news, we have Philadelphia sports radio personalities reporting a fun rumor: new head coach is looking to trade Ben Simmons from the 76ers for the #1 overall pick and Lamelo Ball.

I am not sure how this works salary wise as the Wolves already have D’Angelo Russell and Karl Anthony Towns under nice contracts but NBA teams always seem to find cap space to make room.

If the Wolves say yes the 76ers should pack Ben’s bags before they get off the phone. Not only does the move get rid of one of your roster problems (what to do with a 7′ quasi point guard who won’t shoot threes with Embiid on the floor) but it also clears a ton of cap space to fix the bench.

I wouldn’t get too happy 76ers fans. We all know no matter what Doc is going to blow another 3-1 lead.

I don’t know what he’s thinking but if it were me I’d be somewhere getting rested and hydrated in anticipation of having to get a win over Kawhi Leonard for four games.

Again there is no proof it’s him but there just happened to be a tall light skin guy up in the club hours before game one. Coincidence? I don’t know.
