Is Josh Rosen getting traded? We don’t know, but we do know he is reporting for workouts in Arizona so maybe there isn’t anything to this whole trade talk… or is it?

If Arizona goes with Kyler Murray they indeed will have to trade Josh Rosen to recoup some of the draft picks they invested in him just a year ago. With Alex Smith suffering a likely career ending injury, how about Washington as a trade partner?

Draft expert danjr is back with his new projection predicting exactly that:

Redskins trade picks 46(2nd) & 2020 3rd to the Cardinals for QB Josh Rosen. 4/6

1. Cardinals: Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma

2. 49ers: Nick Bosa DE Ohio State

3. Giants: Drew Lock QB Missouri

***TRADE***Giants trade picks 6, 17(via Cle) & 2020 2nd to the Jets for pick 3. The Giants have been linked to Lock more and more recently as have the Raiders since the Senior Bowl. The Broncos have also been heavily linked to Lock so you can’t rule out another team trading up. The Giants are showing more signs of desperation regarding finding their next franchise QB so they get aggressive and trade up.

4. Raiders: Quinnen Williams DT Alabama

5. Jets: Josh Allen DE Kentucky

***TRADE***The Jets trade picks 6 & 105(4th) to the Bucs for pick 6. The Bucs have been heavily linked to Devin White, but they aren’t just going to give Josh Allen to Jets, so if they have to stay at 5 Allen would be the pick for the Bucs but if the Jets are willing to part with a pick to move up just 1 spot the Bucs will be happy to move back. As for the Jets this fills a massive need so parting with a 4th rounder is a no brainer.

6. Buccaneers: Devin White ILB LSU

7. Jaguars: Jawaan Taylor OT Florida

8. Bengals: Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio State

***TRADE***Bengals trade picks 11 & 72(3rd) to the Lions for pick 8 & 146(5th). The Bengals have a new HC & a QB that has no more guaranteed money plus the owner saying he needed to “re-establish” himself. Add up all that & it sounds like a change coming to the QB position. Dalton will start the season while Haskins learns & if he does “re-establish” himself they have a tradeable asset. If not, he gets cut and Haskins takes over in 2020. The Lions have been very public about their willingness to trade back.

9. Bills: Ed Oliver DT Houston

10. Broncos: Devin Bush ILB Michigan

11. Lions: Rashan Gary DT Michigan

12. Packers: TJ Hockenson TE Iowa

13. Chiefs: Montez Sweat DE Mississippi St

***TRADE***The Chiefs trade picks 29, 92(3rd) & 2020 1st to the Dolphins for pick 13. Similar to what the Saints did with the Packers in 2018

14. Falcons: Christian Wilkins DT Clemson

15. Redskins: Marquise Brown WR Oklahoma

FLIP THE PAGE FOR THE REST OF THE PICKS!!!!

The Murray talk is helping Joey Bosa, Josh Allen and Quinnen Williams get lost in the media shuffle. Someone is going to fall into drafting a great player if Murray goes #1.

He came, he saw, he conquered. Tyrann Mathieu was drafted in the third round to the Arizona Cardinals off the heels of a great combine.

The week opened a little bit weird for the “Honey Badger.” He tweeted out a club flyer for a first round draft pick party. Obviously tons of NFL Players use their images for club appearances, but you have to question if this is a little bit too soon?

During the draft we saw Tyrann looking uneasy during the first and second rounds. Maybe he shouldn’t have pressed those party flyers up so quickly. But then, the moment happened:

He looks the part of a man who’s rehabilitated but we all know rehabilitation is a ongoing process. Even if Tyrann has to submit to multiple drug tests, there is still no telling when he’s going to get weak and fall of the wagon, if ever.

Is this the type of player you spend a third round draft pick on?

Talent aside? No. Especially not if the 10 plus failed drug tests are true (source: Yahoo.) He’s a nice corner and will be a special team contributor from day one but as I’ve said: what will happen when he gets that urge? Who’s going to be there? What’s his fall back? Who’s his support system?

The Cardinals have drafted Kevin Minter as well from LSU and already have Patrick Peterson on the roster. From the outside looking in, this is going to create a “family” vibe for Tyrann but I have to beg the question hasn’t he already let this family down once before?

Tyrann can be a great player but it’s tough to predict what is going to happen when he falls into that dark place. Can he find his way to the other side?

Only Tyrann knows deep down inside what he’s going to do when his old habits call him. There are no amount of former LSU buddies that will stop his decision. Trust me, the decision is already made.

The Arizona Cardinals are hoping that he will truly turn the corner.

It is no secret. The 2013 Arizona Cardinals had a horrific season. As I type this the team is 5-10, with only one win coming after the month of October. As a matter of fact, four out of the team’s five wins in the first four games.

The biggest problem for the team has been their anemic quarterbacking. Kevin Kolb was pegged to be the starter but he’s only played six games. The team won four of the six he played but how reliable will Kolb be down the line? The reason Philadelphia traded him was because he got injured and then backup Michael Vick replaced him.

Kolb’s injuries opened the door for Josh Skelton and his 54% completion rate to take over. After throwing two touchdowns to nine interceptions the team turned to Ryan Lindley who didn’t do any better (52%, 0 td, 7 ints).

This display begs the question: How much longer will the Quarterback struggle last in Arizona?

If I am the Cardinals management I am making a phone call to the Philadelphia Eagles and that is to acquire the services of one man: Michael Vick and here’s why.

Statistically he is an instant upgrade. Vick has a respectable 58.5% completion rate, 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on the 2012 season. For his career Vick has 122 passing touches to 91 interceptions.

What Vick brings more than anything is a big arm for Larry Fitzgerald, and the big play ability at quarterback. Vick’s 301 yards in 2012 would have made him a close second leading rusher to LaRod Stephens-Howling who only has 57 more yards.

Larry Fitzgerald’s four touchdowns this season are a career low. You don’t think he would be excited to see Vick?

At whatever cost, the Cardnials need to upgrade the quarterback position. Kolb cannot stay healthy and while Vick has his share of injuries he always comes back sooner rather than later. His rushing yards alone are enough of a boost to this offense to win several more games.

We all agree that there is no quarterback in the draft valuable enough to take at the top 15 pick Arizona will land. There are other trade options but Alex Smith and Mark Sanchez are more of the same. There is only one Michael Vick. There is only one Larry Fitzgerald. There are only so many chances you get to put a tandem like this together.

Why not?

That has set a bit of a shock wave through the draft community. With the status of Robert Griffin III and Oklahoma’s Landry Jones up in the air the next quarterback on the list if you are looking is Arizona’s Nick Foles.

Foles is a hotly debated subject back and forward between many draft fans. The thing is, Foles could easily go in the 3rd round in the 2012 draft. However if Barkley, Griffin III, and Jones all stay in school then Foles could also easily go in the middle of the first round. Yes, the opinions on Foles range that far and wide.

What are my thoughts on this?

I believe that Foles will go somewhere in the top 55 picks. That puts him around the 18-20 spot in the second round. As a Broncos fan it does concern me that some believe that Foles could go in the middle of the first round because for some strange reason I believe John Elway is dying to draft Nick Foles. From eveything that I’ve read the Broncos seem really interested in Foles. Then again, they were also really interested in Cam Newton and you see how that panned out.

What is Foles’ value as a pro?

As you may know I do not like “scouting reports” because for the most part they are wrong. I will just tell you my opinion on Foles from the limited action I got to see of him.

To me he is a classic drop back passer. He isn’t going to run around the field like the “new wave” of QB’s. Foles is going to sit back comfortable in the pocket. Sometimes maybe a little too comfortable if you ask me. At 6’4 he is a huge target for defenders and he has a tendency to lock on to his primary target and wait for him to get open.

I am not sure if that is a product of Arizona’s scheme, or if Foles simply doesn’t like to look for his second and third options. Either way that is a very correctable problem. Mechanically he is very sound, and a near 70% passer. Though it was in the Pac 12, that accuracy is nothing to sneeze at. That may be the main reason the Broncos are so interested.

So where will Foles go in the draft?

All in all, I believe he goes in the top half of the second round. I think a team like Seattle or Kansas City that may not necessarily want to spend a top 10 pick on a QB will take him in the second round and develop him behind a veteran.

You remember Rich Rodriguez right? The head coach of the famed West Virginia team that featured Pat White and Steve Slaton who then flipped that season into getting the Michigan job only to be fired shortly after. His wide open option system did wonders with Pat White at the helm but with Denard Robinson and Tate Forcier it looked a little less than magical.

Well now Rich Rod is taking his talents to the University of Arizona and is kind of, sort of guaranteeing a National Title as well.

On Tuesday, Rodriguez was back in charge of a football program. He said his choice to take the Arizona job boiled down to a few things — that the school is located in a college community, that Arizona has good academics and a good athletics program, and that the football team can be nationally competitive.

“When this opportunity came up, there were maybe some other opportunities that came up and they were really neat,” Rodriguez said. “For me, and making this hopefully my last stop, you have to go where you can win a national championship. I don’t mind saying it. That’s hard to do. That’s really hard to do…but you can win one here.”

Quick, no one remind Rich Rod that Arizona has not had double digit wins since 1998.

Williams tore his patella tendon during a preseason game Friday night and will not be suiting up in 2011. Here are the details from PFT:

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Williams likely has a ruptured patellar tendon, according to multiple reporters on the scene. Coaches are always hesitant to say anything immediately after a game unless the injury is clear; Whisenhunt sounded pretty sure his versatile second round pick was done.

A lot of people were looking for Williams to make a huge impact for the Cardinals and their new ground heavy offense. Maybe they shouldnt have traded Tim Hightower so soon? Hmm….

Beanie Wells can breathe a breath of fresh air… for now.

All of the talk during the lockout is that we will see a furious four day free agent frenzy soon as operations are resumed in NFL front offices. The major domino that several teams are waiting to see drop is what happens to Kevin Kolb in regards to a trade.

The Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins could all be in the market for a veteran passer and Kolb fits the bill. He is widely regarded as the #1 veteran passer available over Kyle Orton, Donovan McNabb, Vince Young, and Matt Hasselbeck.

It is looking more and more that Kolb will end up in Arizona, and possibly in exchange for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

But a small detail may be holding up the deal.

Jeff McLane of Philly.com writes that “The Eagles want a starter in return – which Rodgers-Cromartie is – and more, possibly a 2012 second- or third-round draft pick.”

Considering that the Cardinals just drafted Patrick Peterson in the NFL Draft, it is likely they are prepared to lose a starter there. It is a matter of time before we see if Arizona is prepared to give not only their starting CB, but a draft pick as well.
