In a crucial moment during Super Bowl LIV, Jimmy Garoppolo narrowly missed connecting with Emmanuel Sanders on a deep throw. The ramifications of this missed opportunity were significant, potentially altering the course of NFL history in several ways.

Had Garoppolo completed the pass to Sanders, the San Francisco 49ers might have emerged victorious in the Super Bowl. This outcome would have had far-reaching effects on the league landscape:

Mahomes’ Legacy: Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, would have fallen to 0-2 in Super Bowl appearances. This outcome could have led to questions about his ability to win the big game, impacting the narrative surrounding his career.

Belichick’s QB Decisions: Bill Belichick, head coach of the New England Patriots, would have appeared even more remarkable for losing two quarterbacks who went on to win Super Bowls—Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady, who won back-to-back championships with different teams.

Impact on Draft Picks: The trajectory of the 49ers’ franchise would have been different. Without the need for a quarterback, they might not have traded up to select Trey Lance with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The trade to acquire Trey Lance from the Miami Dolphins involved significant draft capital. The 49ers parted ways with multiple first-round picks and a third-round pick to secure Lance’s services:

49ers received: 2021 first-round pick (No. 3 overall)

Dolphins received: 2021 first-round pick (No. 12 overall), 2022 first-round pick (No. 29 overall), 2022 third-round pick (No. 101 overall), and 2023 first-round pick (No. 29 overall)

Examining the players selected with the draft picks traded away by the 49ers underscores the impact of the decision:

Micah Parsons: Selected with the 2021 first-round pick (No. 12 overall) by the Dallas Cowboys.

Cole Strange: Chosen with the 2022 first-round pick (No. 29 overall) by the New England Patriots.

Channing Tindall: Drafted with the 2022 third-round pick (No. 101 overall) by the Miami Dolphins.

Bryan Bresee: Taken with the 2023 first-round pick (No. 29 overall) by the New Orleans Saints.

The ripple effects of Garoppolo’s missed throw in the Super Bowl extend beyond the game itself, shaping the futures of multiple teams and players across the NFL.

In the latest twist of the NFL offseason, the San Francisco 49ers have surfaced as a potential destination for New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. The speculation comes amid rumors circulating around Wilson’s future with the Jets and the possibility of a trade.

Wilson, who was selected as the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of BYU, has faced scrutiny and inconsistency during his rookie season with the Jets. As the offseason progresses, trade rumors have swirled, with various teams reportedly expressing interest in acquiring the young quarterback.

Breaking Rumor: Zach Wilson to the 49ers “Very Close”

Sources close to the situation have revealed that a potential trade involving Zach Wilson and the San Francisco 49ers is “very close” to materializing. While details of the deal remain undisclosed, it is believed that the 49ers are exploring the possibility of adding Wilson to their roster.

Expected Compensation and Trade Details

As discussions between the Jets and the 49ers progress, the expected compensation for Zach Wilson’s services is rumored to be a seventh-round draft pick. While this may seem like a minimal return for a highly touted quarterback, it underscores the uncertainty surrounding Wilson’s value in the current trade market.

The potential move to the 49ers could provide Wilson with a fresh start and an opportunity to rejuvenate his career under the guidance of head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers’ offensive system. Additionally, the 49ers may view Wilson as a developmental project with significant upside, making him an intriguing prospect for their roster.

As the NFL offseason unfolds, the speculation surrounding Zach Wilson’s future continues to intensify. With the 49ers emerging as a potential suitor, all eyes will be on the ongoing negotiations between the Jets and the 49ers, as they could shape the landscape of the league for years to come.

Following the San Francisco 49ers’ devastating Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, tensions within the team are brewing, with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s future with the franchise called into question.

Aiyuk’s best friend, whose identity remains undisclosed, took to Instagram to express frustration over the star receiver’s lack of involvement in the championship game. “Why does your all-pro receiver have 3 catches in the Super Bowl?” the post read, hinting at underlying issues within the team.

Despite a commendable performance by quarterback Brock Purdy, who led the 49ers admirably throughout the game, the team fell short in overtime against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Aiyuk, who was reportedly wide open during the 49ers’ first overtime drive, missed out on a potential game-winning touchdown when Purdy opted to throw the ball away, ultimately resulting in a field goal.

This pivotal moment allowed Mahomes and the Chiefs to seize the opportunity, with Mahomes delivering a decisive touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman, securing victory for Kansas City and earning Mahomes the Super Bowl MVP title.

As the offseason looms and emotions run high in the aftermath of the heartbreaking loss, speculation mounts regarding Aiyuk’s future with the 49ers. Will the star receiver choose to part ways with the team in pursuit of greener pastures, or will he remain determined to bounce back stronger in the quest for Super Bowl glory? Only time will tell as the offseason drama unfolds in the NFL.

In a surprising trade move, the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to send their former No. 3 overall pick, Trey Lance, to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a mid-round pick, according to reliable sources. This trade deal marks a significant shift in Lance’s career as he embarks on a fresh journey with the Cowboys.

Trey Lance, who was once a highly touted prospect, had his start in San Francisco after being selected as the third overall pick. However, as the dynamics of the NFL can often prove unpredictable, this trade has caught many off guard. The 49ers’ decision to part ways with Lance suggests a strategic recalibration of their team composition.

On the flip side, this trade provides Trey Lance with an opportunity for a new beginning in Dallas. The Cowboys, known for their fervent fan base and historical significance in the league, could serve as an ideal platform for Lance to showcase his skills and potential. The move to Dallas could potentially reinvigorate his career trajectory and offer him a chance to thrive in a new environment.

Details about the mid-round pick going to the 49ers haven’t been fully disclosed, but the fact that they are parting with a player once hailed as a top pick indicates a shift in their team strategy. On the other hand, the Cowboys are making a calculated move to acquire a young talent who could contribute to their roster in meaningful ways.

As NFL enthusiasts process this unexpected trade, the spotlight will undoubtedly be on Trey Lance as he adapts to his new team and endeavors to make a mark in Dallas. The transition will not only test his playing abilities but also his adaptability and resilience as he integrates into the Cowboys’ system.

In summary, the NFL landscape has witnessed a significant trade as the Dallas Cowboys secure Trey Lance, the former No. 3 overall pick, from the San Francisco 49ers. This move presents a fresh opportunity for Lance to redefine his career trajectory and make his presence felt in Dallas. As the league and fans alike anticipate how this trade will unfold, one thing remains certain: Trey Lance’s journey in the NFL has taken an unexpected turn, and the excitement surrounding his performance in a Cowboys jersey is palpable.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the 54th edition of the NFL’s Championship game in epic fashion. The Chiefs came back from 10-20 to win 31-20 over the highly touted 49ers.

The streets are talking about the 49ers and it isn’t good. Is coach Kyle Shanahan a choke artist? With the Falcons, Shanahan’s offense historically blew a 28-3 lead and now the 49ers blew a 20-10.

I think the fact is that with the NFL you have to keep scoring. Running the clock out doesn’t work if you aren’t getting first downs. No lead is truly safe the way that WRs and QBs cannot be touched.

All in all the 49ers had a chance on a late 3rd down while behind 20-24 but Jimmy Garappolo couldn’t hit a wide open Emmanuel Sanders for the game sealing touchdown. If your offense is built off getting out to leads quick you have to keep adding points even if they are FGs in this era. Guys like Mahomes and Tyreek Hill are a few seconds away from 7 points at all times and that’s exactly what happened.

The 49ers will probably be back as all their players are young and under contract. The Chiefs will have to pay Mahomes and we’ll see how that contract looks but if I was a betting man I’d say that the 49ers have the better long term prospects.

Don’t call them choke artists, just call them not the Champs. Because the champs are in Kansas City, Missouri. Not Kansas.

The season of giving is here! Of course NFL fans want to know what gifts their favorite teams are getting. Who better to tell you than our community of draft experts?

Cowboysfan is back with his projections for all 32 NFL fan bases!

Check out the latest NFL 2019 mock draft below:

1. Cardinals: Jonah Williams OT Alabama
The Cardinals should do everything within their power to trade out of this pick. If they are unable to do so, they have a big decision to make. To take the top OT or to take the best overall player. In this case, Cardinals simply need O line help, and if it were feasible, they would draft 5 Offensive linemen in this draft. It’s an embarrassment how bad they are. Williams isn’t a road grader, but is techinically sound and has battled the best pass rushers out there. Williams would be a great addition and a building block for the Cards.

2. Raiders: Nick Bosa DE Ohio State
Raiders traded away their best pass rusher, and they have a chance to draft the next best one. Bosa is more athletic than his brother, and is NFL ready in terms of size. He’s technical, but also has a very good first step. Some may question the injury though.

3. 49ers: Josh Allen OLB Kentucky
I think the 49ers could definitely use CB here, but they have a chance to form a formidable defensive front with Allen as the primary pass rusher. Buckner has been good and Armstead is a solid guy as well. Allen helped himself tremendously. He was more of just a jack of all trades guy, but has developed into a true master of a player. You need a pass rusher on third down he’s your guy, you need someone to set the edge for your defense, he’s your guy. You need a guy who drop into coverage, once again he is your guy. Don’t make things harder, just take the guy and don’t look back.

4. Jets: Greedy Williams CB LSU
The Jets need talent everywhere, but I think they could and should add a CB to their team that can take advantage of the S play they have. Williams is a very talented CB. Has elite length and speed. Doesn’t have the best hips, but covers well. He needs to be more physical, and wrap up when tackling.

5. Lions: Quinnen Williams DT Alabama
The Lions need to get some help on defense, and Williams is a monster. The current NFL is starting to shift towards DT collapsing the pocket and Williams is a guy who can bull rush or finesse his way to the QB. He dominates every O lineman he’s played.

6. Buccaneers: Byron Murphy CB Washington
Bucs are one of the worst defenses there is. Defense should be the priority. Murphy in my opinion is better than Greedy, but he doesn’t play in a high profile school like LSU. Even though it is pretty high profile. He’s 6’1″ 190. He has good speed, but is more importantly techinically sound. He doesn’t give ground in coverage and will tackle.

7. Bills: Ed Oliver DT Houston
The Bills are somewhat devoid of talent. They could add a defensive player to build around. Oliver is a pass rushing DT, who can also play some DE. I think his overall size is a bit of a question mark, but it never really presented a problem in college. He’s not really just a finesse player, he can really bully guys when needed. He’s very talented, and he would be a building block for the Bills.

8. Giants: Greg Little OT Ole Miss
QB and O line are imply everything the Giants need. Their O line is bad, and unless they want to draft an average QB, they take the O line. Little isn’t as good as Williams, but he’s a big guy who is pretty nimble. He isn’t a road grader despite his overall size. He’s not as good in run blocking as I would think, but he’s a good pass blocker which spells good things for Eli Manning and the passing game.

We are at the midway point of the year. Around this time of the year the NFL season begins to shake out. Some teams are blowing it up like the Giants and Raiders, while some teams have hit a stride like the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers.

What if your team is struggling? Well, then draft season comes early. Check out what draft expert CowboysFan thinks your squad will do in his new 2019 NFL mock draft below!

1. Cardinals: Jonah Williams OT Alabama

The Cardinals need to find a way to protect Josh Rosen. You want to surround him with talent on O line and at WR. Sure I think Nick Bosa is a better player right now, but Jonah Williams isn’t a bad pick either. Williams has been a long time starter for Bama, and has obviously helped pave the way for the Bama ground game, but due to the emergence of Tua, we have seen him as a pass protector. His massive frame allows him to anchor with ease, and has great technique pushing rushers wide and away from the QB. No it’s not flashy, and no he’s not going to get stats, but if Josh Rosen ends up with 4000 yards passing next year, Williams will be a key reason why.

2. 49ers: Nick Bosa DE Ohio State

The 49ers just need to add talent all around. They do have Buckner, and have added Fred Warner, which has helped them, but adding an edge rusher like Bosa is a big deal. Bosa has natural bend and quickness as a pass rusher. He has an NFL body type. I have a higher grade than I had his brother, and I was very high on Joey. Bosa may have to answer questions about injury, and why he declined to play this season, but I don’t doubt his passion for the game.

3. Raiders: Quinnen Williams DT Alabama

Quinnen Williams is a big guy at 6’4″ 290 lbs. He’s both strong and quick for a guy his size. I’ve heard Dane Brugler compare him to Gerald McCoy. While I wouldn’t go that far, it’s not hard to see the potential this guy has. He is so fast off the line OG don’t really have the time to set up their blocks. He could improve as a run defender though. He isn’t bad, but you can see him being a little too eager to pass rush, he will abandon his assignment.

4. Giants: Greg Little OT Ole Miss

In this mock Justin Herbert returns to school which is why you see an OT here. Getting Greg Little, a talented and large OT to help pave the road for Saquon, and being the blindside protector of the heir apparent. Sure you want a QB here, but why reach and make things hard. Take a guy who can help your QB and be a big piece going forward.

5. Bills: Ed Oliver DT Houston

The Bills are still looking to replace a few guys they’ve lost. They need to surround their young QB with talent. I do not think there are many guys worth a first round pick at WR especially this early. Oliver is a player who can play inside or outside at the next level. He’s physical, quick, and strong. He is equally good in run and pass defense. I would love for the Bills to get this player and build around him.

6. Browns: Byron Murphy CB Washington

Byron Murphy Washington Murphy is the next in line to come out of the new DBU. Byron isn’t the biggest guy, but don’t let it fool you into believing he can’t or won’t tackle. He is very physical, even though he’s only around 185 lbs. Exceptional coverage skills, allow him to put WR on lockdown, and with the size to hang around with some TEs. Browns were criticized for taking Ward last year, well they add another guy to that secondary in Murphy who can be the opposite WR.

7. Jets: Clelin Ferrell DE Clemson

The Jets are another team that simply needs to add talent, and Ferrell is one who can add pass rush outside and let Williams wreak havoc inside. Ferrell is an elite pass rusher, who is also a good run defender. He’s simply good all around. He isn’t small, and he can win with power and finesse.

8. Colts: Greedy Williams CB LSU

By year’s end the race to be the top DB will come down to Williams and Murphy. In this scenario Murphy edges out Greedy. Greedy is an elite cover corner with speed. He’s also around 6’2″ which gives him much needed size outside. He excels in man, has good turn of direction skills. His weaknesses are that he is quite light and isn’t really physical as a tackler or run defender. But if you just want coverage guys he’s your man. The Colts can really bolster their defense with this pick. Sure O line could be an option, but I don’t really have an O lineman that’s similar in talent to Greedy left.

9. Falcons: Deandre Baker CB Georgia

Falcons have been comprimised on defense through a lot of injuries. Adding a guy like Baker can help mitigate some of that with his play. They already have Trufant, but there is nothing wrong with Baker. Baker is only about 5’10”, but his tackling ability are second to none in this class. He’s a coverage corner who can be excellent in zone or man, which is highly beneficial to a Falcons defense that takes pride in flexibility. The issue for Baker will be size, but also his lack of athletic ability, I don’t think he’s that fast. Neither was Desmond King and look how that turned out. Chargers got a first round talent in round 5, and everyone in the league is scratching their heads.

10. Buccaneers: Deionte Thompson S Alabama

6’2″ 195 lbs. The Bucs are a mess defensively, currently the worst defense in the league. Thompson will help Tampa use the cover 2 they covet. Thompson is a free range safety, able to go from sideline to sideline and makes use of his coverage skills to make plays on the ball. He can be a bit wild as a tackler, throwing his body around which could cause injury. He can play in the box or out in coverage, which gives him the ability to be a force as a defender.
