The 2018 edition of the NFL Draft was one to remember. A crock of QB’s that most people did not grade out as generational talents were all coveted as if they were the direct descendants of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Will one of them prove to be the heir apparent to the GOAT? Time will tell.

What we do know know is we can grade each NFL team on their 2018 draft selections and how they played out versus all the projections. Here is Cowboysfan1993 with his strong analysis:

1. Browns: Baker Mayfield QB Oklahoma

I like the player, but I thought maybe he would go a bit later. Mayfield is very mobile, with an adequate arm. I feel that his confidence may be taken for arrogance, but this is a very talented player that can help the Browns going forward. Grade: A

2. Giants: Saquon Barkley RB Penn State

The Giants get a very good player in Barkley. Barkley is one of the best RB in a while. He’s big, fast, and shifty. I love his demeanor, and I think he will be rookie of the year. The Giants went with the 2nd best player on my board, but I am concerned that they do not have an offensive line. The player receives a high grade, but the fit is questionable considering how much they need O line. Grade: B+

3. Jets: Sam Darnold QB USC

The Jets obviously need talent everywhere. They went Darnold to get their QB of the future. Darnold can make all of the throws, is more mobile than one would think, and is a high character guy. The issue is that he is a bit innacurate and turns teh ball over too much. They need to surround him with more talent at receiver to get the most out of him though. Grade: B

4. Browns: Denzel Ward CB Ohio State

The Browns just need talent. I would have gone with Chubb, but they do have Garrett and Ogbah. I think Ward is very talented and upgrades one of the worst secondaries in the league. Ward isn’t the biggest guy, but he’s fast, and is the best man coverage corner in the draft. He upgrades that defense. Grade: A

5. Broncos: Bradley Chubb DE NC State

This is a bit suprising considering I was expecting Nelson or a QB here. They added the top pass rusher in the draft to pair with Von Miller. I think he’s similar to Bosa in that he isn’t twitchy, but is technically sound, and plays with a relentless motor. While surprising, this is a very good pick for them. Grade: A

6. Colts: Quenton Nelson OG Notre Dame

I just have a few words. Andrew Luck says thank you. Quenton Nelson is the best player left for me. It may be a bit early for an OG, but Nelson is an elite player that could turn out better than Zack Martin. They needed to protect Luck, and they did that with this pick. Grade: A+

7. Bills: Josh Allen QB Wyoming

I do not like this pick especially considering that they gave up their 2 2nd round picks. Allen is physically very gifted with a rocket arm. He was innacurate in a not so strong conference in college. I think this was a huge reach. Grade: F

8. Bears: Roquan Smith OLB Georgia

I felt that the Bears needed a WR, and someone to captain their defense. They get Smith. I think this is a very good pick, it fills a need, and is a very smart and instinctual player. He in my opinion is similar to Derrick Brooks and at worst is Jonathan Vilma. He covers a lot of ground and will make every tackle. Grade: A+

9. 49ers: Mike McGlinchey OT Notre Dame

This was the first big surprise all night. The 49ers do need help at OT and they definitely need to protect Jimmy as well. I think this is a bit early for him. McGlinchey is a big OT who excels in the run game, but it will help Jimmy. Grade: B

10. Cardinals: Josh Rosen QB UCLA

The Cardinals needed a QB, who they had on the roster was not going to get it done. They didn’t give up a whole lot for this pick. Rosen to me is the best QB in the draft, but has character issues. If they can reel him back, he can be a great pick for them. The character concerns do worry me a bit, but the talent is there. Grade: B

11. Dolphins: Minkah Fitzpatrick S Alabama

The Dolphins decide to go with Minkah Fitzpatrick. They decide to get a physical player with some versatility. I never thought this man would fall this far, but he did. I think this is a huge steal that will help cover the back end for their defense. Grade: A+

12. Buccaneers: Vita Vea DT Washington

The Bucs go Vita Vea. This is a very surprising pick. I for sure thought they would go Derwin, but decide to draft a big DT instead. Vea is a very good player, and I like the fit. They pair McCoy with a space clogger with strong ability to stop the run. A bit early, but like the pick. Grade: B+

13. Redskins: Da’Ron Payne DT Alabama

The Redskins take Payne, I think this is a slight bit of a reach, but he is still a good player. He isn’t going to offer much in terms of pass rush, but he will destroy the run game. The Redskins needed help in this area too. I feel they could have traded back to get him. Grade: B-

14. Saints: Marcus Saugen OLB Eastern Washington

Marcus Davenport was the pick. Considering the Saints traded up this far to take a DE is a bit concerning. Davenport is physically gifted, but he isn’t a complete product. Often he looks lost on the field. This is just way too high to take him. They hope he can play outside on their defense. Grade: F

15. Raiders: Kolton Miller OT UCLA

Miller is highly athletic. But this is a major reach in my opinion. He has no real technqiue and lacks strength. He will get abused early on. Grade: F

What will the Redskins do? In one year we’ve seen DC’s team lose their speedy veteran WR and engage in a stalemate with QB Kirk Cousins that will likely end in Kirk leaving the team. With Matt Stafford just signing for the most QB money EVER, it is very unrealistic to envision Washington handing over even more money than they refused to this offseason to Cousins.

Here are the 2018 draft projections from DraftP, one of our veteran members of the draft community. Check back for more of his mocks during the year.

2018 Redskins mock draft below:

In this mock draft I’m working it as if the Skins finished with an 8-8 record that puts them at 16 in every round.

I have two trades, (1) The Browns trade up to get the Redskins Rd. 1 pick 16 and in return the Skins get Rd. 1 pick 26, Rd. 2 pick 58 & Rd. 4 pick 110.

(2) The Colts trade up to get the Redskins Rd. 3 pick 80 and in return the Skins get Rd. 3 pick 85 & Rd. 5 pick 159.

Team needs; QB, WR, CB, G, S, RB, C

1. Redskins: Quenton Nelson OG Notre Dame

(From Browns) Rd. 1, pick 26 The Redskins select G Quenton Nelson 6-5, 325 Lbs. from Notre Damn. Nelson is the top inside offensive lineman in the 2018 draft. He is a strong mauler that is very good in both run and pass blocking. The Redskins need an immediate upgrade over Shawn Lauvao who has been the weakest link on the O-line and is poised to become a FA in 2018. Nelson should be a day one starter.

2. Redskins: Luke Falk QB Washington State

Rd. 2, pick 48. The Redskins select QB Luke Falk 6-4, 225 Lbs. from Washington State. With Kirk Cousins future with the Redskins in question it only makes since that the Skins would spend a high draft pick on a talented prospect that they can groom into a future starter. Falk has a very accurate arm with solid deep ball strength, good mobility and pocket awareness.

3. Redskins: A.J. Allen S Northern Iowa

(From Browns) Rd. 2, pick 58. The Redskins select FS/SS Armani Watts 5-11, 205 Lbs. from Texas A&M. While Watts only has average size for the position, he does have exceptional range and is a fierce hitter. Watts can play either safety position and some corner as well. Outstanding ball skills, great speed, very athletic.

4. Redskins: Corey McBride WR TCU

(From Colts) Rd. 3, pick 85. The Redskins select WR Danta Pettis 6-1, 192 Lbs. from Washington. Pettis played second fiddle to 2017 1st round pick speedster John Ross but this year he gets to strut his stuff as Washington’s #1 wideout. Pettis has great speed in his own right and the ability to make acrobatic catches. Also, Pettis is a dangerous punt and kickoff returner. Deep threat.

5. Redskins: Frank Ragnow C Arkansas

(From Browns) Rd. 4, pick 110. The Redskins select C/G Frank Ragnow 6-5, 319 Lbs. from Arkansas. The Redskins currently have Spencer Long a converted G playing only his 2nd season at C penciled in as the starter who is set to become a FA in 2018. The Skins also drafted in the 6th Rd. of this years draft Chase Roullier from Wyoming which word has it the Skins are high on but in my opinion lacks the mobility to be a starter. That brings us to Frank Ragnow who has the size, speed and mobility to become a day one starter. Strong run blocker that gets to the second level to make key blocks. Good in pass protection, has a low center of gravity to help absorb bull rushers.

6. Redskins: Cameron Smith ILB Southern California

Rd. 4, pick 118. The Redskins select ILB Cameron Smith 6-2, 245 Lbs. from USC. Smith is one of the best linebackers in college football and he only falls to the Redskins here if he posts what I figure to be a slow 40 time at the combine. Smith looks like middle linebacker with excellent instincts. The Skins currently have 3 ILB’s set to become FA so selecting a solid player like Smith only makes since.

7. Redskins: Jacob Sobotka OLB Iowa

Rd. 5, pick 154. The Redskins select ILB/OLB Jacob Pugh 6-4, 247 Lbs. from Florida St. The Redskins are currently a bit thin at OLB. Pugh has good speed and high energy nonstop motor. Pugh could move inside if needed.

8. Redskins: Sony Michel RB Georgia

(From Colts) Rd. 5, pick 159. The Redskins select RB Sony Michel 5-11, 222 Lbs. from Georgia. Michel is basically a change of pace/ 3rd down back at GA. He has excellent hands and break away speed plus solid build to take a pounding if needed. The Skins currently don’t have a guy like this on the roster. He kind of reminds me of Redskins great Terry Allen.

9. Redskins: Pat Porter CB Jacksonville State

Rd. 6, pick 195. The Redskins select CB Priest Willis 6-2, 205 Lbs. from Texas A&M. Willis is a solid press corner with very good length and size. Highly competitive corner.

10. Redskins: Frederick Jones DT Florida State

Rd. 7, pick 238. The Redskins select DT/NT Joshua Frazier 6-4, 315 Lbs. from Alabama. The Redskins are still looking for a NT and although they are hoping former 1st round pick Phil Taylor can resurrect his career in Washington, at 29 and his long ranging history of injury doesn’t make Taylor a long term fit. Frazier is a solid run stuffer that has been a backup for his collegiate career is finally getting the opportunity to start for the Crimson Tide this season. His stock should rise if he can show some pass rush.

What will happen to the Cowboys? The Dallas Cowboys are facing a six game suspension of superstar RB Ezekiel Elliot in a year in which they are favorited by many to come out of the NFC. Will this derail Dallas’ 2017 season? We’ll see.

Cowboysfan1993 has his thoughts on the matter. He recently dropped a brand new Cowboys mock draft with the picks Dallas may make in 2017.

Here are his picks below:

This is a mock draft that is determined by the rankings of the players on CBS sports. I feel that the Cowboys can once again make the playoffs. So they will at least be drafting in the 20s.

1. Cowboys: Cameron Smith ILB Southern California

Round 1: The Cowboys have a few issues at LB. Sean Lee while an excellent players, gets hurt and is on the wrong side of 30. When healthy he’s one of if not the top LB in the NFL. Anthony Hitchens has been an iron man. Not missing games and playing fairly well when called upon, but isn’t truly a special player, and his contract is coming to a close very soon. He may or may not be resigned, and if not the Cowboys are left with a void at the LB position and lose a lot of depth with it. Jaylon Smith is an exciting player, but in his first preseason game, I still feel he has a very long way to go. There is a chance he may never be a special player. And finally the Cowboys potential starter Damian Wilson was arrested for a weapons charge. At some point the Cowboys need to start cutting players who put themselves in bad positions. Dallas cannot afford to have suspensions every season. Cameron Smith is a player that compares favorably to Sean Lee. He’s a good sized LB who is capable of doing it all in coverage, run support, and as a blitzer. He is an incredibly smart LB weaving in and out of traffic and getting to the ball carrier. He also features quality athleticism. At this spot the Cowboys are getting a starting LB that can fill the needs going into next season.

2. Cowboys: Sam Hubbard DE Ohio State

Round 2: This is another issue the Cowboys face which is DE. The Cowboys did draft Charlton, but I do not feel he is a RDE. He’s more of a LDE, and the Cowboys have a lot of depth there. The strength of the D line is at the DT spots. Tapper and Moore have some ability, but I am not sure if they are the answers there either. Again Moore and Irving cannot be relied on, while also being suspended. The Cowboys have to start moving on from guys who continuously get in trouble for off the field issues. You can’t help the team if you can’t make the games. Sam Hubbard is a very good run stuffer, while being equally as good as a pass rusher. He possesses a very good first step ability while using a lot of pass rush moves to get to the QB. The issue is more so that he’s not super flashy and isn’t what one would consider a star pass rusher. He’s a very smart player who is assignment sound, and when you play in the Marinelli system, you do not have to be special, but you do have to give max effort and Hubbard does that just as well as anyone.

3. Cowboys: Trey Adams OT Washington

Round 3: It is a bit of a surprise, but O line could be a need going into next year’s draft. Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Travis Frederick are all very good to great players, but the other two spots are a little harder to determine. Collins hasn’t found a home yet, while he’s shown flashes, he hasn’t been consistent enough as a player. As far as LG is concerned, I am not sure any of the guys on the current roster are good enough. Byron Bell has been awful. Cooper has been slightly better, but his injury history is very concering. They may need to draft an O linemen in Trey Adams. Adams has played OT at Washingotn, but arm length may force him to move inside to OG. However, even though he’s 6’8″ and about 320 pounds the guy is very athletic, able to get out in space and pull, while not having many issues making blocks at the 2nd level.

4. Cowboys: Myles Gaskin RB Washington

Round 4: The Cowboys need a new RB, not to replace Elliott, but to be a backup that has ability. McFadden and Morris are getting older and McFadden isn’t very explosive, and Morris is a volume runner who needs a bulk of carries to be effective. Rod Smith as flashed, but is still a questions mark. Myles Gaskin is an effective runner that”s more quick than fast, and may not possess a lot of power running ability. However, his shiftiness and ability to find the hole make him a valuable runner. He may not be elite as a pass catcher, but has done well when asked to. However, his blocking is what separates him from most of the RB in this class. He is capable of picking up blitzers and that is valuable in the Cowboys offense. He is rarely out of position, and his technique is sound. Gaskin may not be a special RB, but he is a very solid one. If Elliott were to get hurt or suspended, Gaskin is capable of taking over especially in pass protection.
