They say there is nothing like a woman scorned. NFL prospect Jonnu Smith learned the hard way.

According to sources, his pregnant girlfriend hit him with some boiling water and burned him so bad he is now out for the season. Yikes.

Here is the full report of the Smith’s domestic incident:

Jonnu Smith, a senior tight end at Florida International University, is done for the season after his girlfriend hit him with boiling water. According to the Miami Herald “Smith suffered severe burns on his head, neck, back, a shoulder and an arm. His girlfriend, Mary Gaspar, is 5-months pregnant with his child, and was charged with aggravated battery.

The two argued through the day over the attention Smith was paying her and their relationship. While in Smith’s dorm room and “feeling extremely emotional and stressed,” she told police, she boiled a pot of water. Then, she walked over to Smith and poured it on him.

When Smith didn’t react strongly enough for her, she started hitting him with her open hands, she told police.

The extent of the burns aren’t known, but Smith has been seen back on campus even though he’s not fit for the football field.

Smith has 39 receptions, 441 yards and 3 touchdowns this season and is a potential late round NFL Draft pick. Gaspar’s Twitter – as identified by the Miami Herald – has been deleted since the original story was published.

Men there is a lesson somewhere here. Buy your way out of the dog house before it costs you in a worst way. I hope they work it out for the sake of the child.
