Matt Barkley Injury: It’s a Wrap for USC

It has been quite the eventful year for Matt Barkley and USC. Remember it all started when Matt called that over celebratory press conference to announce he was coming back to do two things: Beat Stanford and win a National Title.

Then, Barkley was considered a top 4 NFL Draft pick depending on what mock you read. Most pundits had him slightly ahead of Ryan Tannehill and behind 2012 Heisman winner RG3.

However all of that seems for naught. Barkley and his Trojans have struggled to the tune of four regular season losses. The latest loss was last night vs. UCLA.

Barkley was injured in the contest and will miss some time. Has USC seen the last of him before the 2013 NFL Draft?

Barkley suffered an apparent right shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of USC’s 38-28 loss to UCLA. Depending on how serious the injury is, Barkley might miss next week’s season finale against Notre Dame, which might have BCS Championship Game implications for the undefeated Irish, and maybe USC’s bowl game too.
