You listed him as being “more NFL ready” and more “polished” than Cam Newton. His performance his first year was obviously not close to what Newton was able to accomplish. One of the positive qualities about Gabbert you stated coming out of college was that unlike some of the other QBs, he didn’t hold on to the ball (he attempted a pass or threw it away). In his rookie year in the NFL, other analyst, including former players attributed that same behavior to Gabbert being afraid to stand in the pocket and take a hit. Do you think your evaluation of that particular skill was inaccurate? I hope the young man plays better in his sophomore season.
